Chaske Spencer to Headline Earth Day Festival

On Saturday, April 23rd, 2011 Chaske Spencer, star of The Twilight Saga film series: New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn pt. 1 & 2 is set to host Earth Day Festival San Francisco at the San Francisco Civic Center Plaza. He will be the headline speaker at the EcoSpeaker’s Stage along with Amanda Cryer and the United Global Shift/Be the Shift Campaign.
The Earth Day Festival in San Francisco features a sustainable living roadshow with international keynote speakers, eco-zones with leading activists, workshops, non-profit organizations, green business, indigenous community leaders, civic agencies, and youth groups along with great multicultural music, food and drinks. The focus is to empower the public to pursue green solutions to their everyday lives and address local and global environmental challenges.
Spencer is a co-founder of the Be the Shift Campaign and spokesperson for United Global Shift, which is an organization dedicated to fighting poverty and creating sustainable communities. United Global Shift’s mission is to cause a shift in what is possible for humanity, focusing on the environment, employment, entrepreneurship, health and education by using media outlets to promote entertainment projects in film, television, fashion, sports, advertising, and internet. By promoting these projects the goal is to cause a shift in the way people think and live their lives.

Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide Giveaway—Outside the USA
We’ve been getting a lot of tweets and emails from people who have to wait days, weeks, or moths for the guide to come out in their countries. Usually the email have been coming in with multiple : ( after their sentences. We always feel bad when we have contests that are USA only (never our choice the supplier’s choice). Last week, we promised that we would do a giveaway for the people who live outside the USA and here it is.
If you live outside of the territories and states of the United States of America, we are going to pick a random two people from the comments, and we will send the guide to you. The version we have at our disposal is the American version, which we will ship to the winners. We don’t have any foreign language versions.
So, in the comments, just tell us what you are looking forward to in the guide and in what country you reside. We’ll pick a random two winners on Friday, April 15th at 11:59 pm eastern.
We don’t care if you are on the science station in Antarctica, Northern Siberia or points in between we will ship it to you!
The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide–Fan Artist Highlights
The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide is now on shelves or you can get it via Amazon.com. Aside from fabulous information that tells the backstory of fan favorite characters like Alice, we now also have details on our favorite villains like Victoria (or maybe she’s not such a villain after all). We also now get all the history of all of the Volturi coven members and the covens that came to be witnesses for the Cullens. Wolfpack people, no fear, there’s lots of new info on Emily, Sam, Leah and other pack members.
Now aside from all of those juicy details, there are fabulous illustrations through out the book of characters, places, cars, clothing, etc.
One of our favorite sections was the section designated toward fan artists! There is an entire collection of fan art that illustrates different moments in the Twilight Saga. The media and style is different artist by artist. Some are charcoal, some are watercolor, some are abstract, etc. regardless they are all fantastic!
We’d like to call attention to two of them who we have known about for years. They were two of the very first artists to be part of the Ramblings And Thoughts fanfic and fan art site. To our knowledge, this was the first site to recognize fanfic and fan artists side-by-side in the Twilight world.
The first is Darcy Ripley whose fan name is Tainted Tea. Darcy leans towards a surreal style. Below is a picture of Darcy’s of Edward and Bella that doesn’t appear in the guide, but she has two others that do. The next is Kim Kincaid whose fan name is Fatty Lumpkin. Kim works in several media and does mostly portrait work. Below is one of her pictures or her vision of Edward that doesn’t appear in the guide, but she also has two others that do(portraits of Emmett and Jacob). Team Twilight Interviews Judi Shekoni
Team Twilight has a great interview with Judi Shekoni who plays Zafrina in Breaking Dawn
“TT: It’s funny, because reading the cast’s Twitter updates, it kind of seems a bit like summer camp. Was that the kind of experience it was? It is just so many people working every single day together. I am curious what that was like.
JS: It must have been really interesting for you guys reading all the Twitter. That makes me realize that I know only what I write, really. But if you seem them all together, you probably have a better idea of what it was like for everyone than me, who was in the middle of it. It was really to see that everyone’s opinions of what went on kind of built up a true picture. I think it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity where I got to be with a group of like-minded individuals. Everyone around about the same age. Everyone on the same journey together. And also, all of us doing an interesting, cool film. We aren’t doing one where I’m pregnant and my baby’s ill,and it’s not something that is like torturous to shoot, and super highly emotional. It was one about relationships and we kind of felt like that by bonding with each other we were adding tot he film.
TT: Did you do any physical training?
JS: I did some training, yes. And also, for me, I felt like Zafrina has a toughness about her, and also a strength, coming from the rain forest and being self-sufficient out there, and being of nature, so for me it was really important to build up a physicality that represented that. So I definitely was putting myself in the gym a lot. Whether you see the results on camera is the question, but I was there pretty much every day. I felt like a girl’s gotta do her bit. Now all of these guys have these amazing bodies in this film. I don’t think I quite achieved a Taylor or a Kellan body.
TT: I don’t think you want to have a Taylor or Kellan body, as a woman.
JS: That would be scary.”

100 Monkeys Hits the Road on a 2011 Tour
According to MTV’s Hollywood Crush:
“Get ready to go bananas, Crushers: Jackson Rathbone‘s band 100 Monkeys is not only gearing up to release their second full-length album, but they’ll be hitting the road this summer to promote it!
It’s refreshing to see that the “Twilight” star, despite being busy finishing up the second half of “Breaking Dawn,” hasn’t neglected his funky, eclectic band that caught our attention in 2009 (he was even kind enough to do a video diary and debuted one of their music videos exclusively for Hollywood Crush!)
The band announced on their official website that their upcoming record, which is aptly titled Liquid Zoo, will be released on June 28, which just so happens to be the same day they head out on tour!”
They are playing all over the US and Canada. Some of the venues have great history behind them. For example they are playing The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey which is the club Bruce Springsteen started out in. Most of the venues are for all ages, so no worries about under 21′s having no chance of getting in.
Twilight Fan Goes For MTV Movie Awards Spot And Needs Your Help!
The MTV Movie Awards is having a contest to send fans to the show and a Twilight fan made the final cut of entrants! Audrey wrote to tell us:
“I am so obsessed with the twilight world that with my friend we chose Stephanie Meyer’s characters to make a spoof for the MTV MOVIE AWARDS 2011 contest. Taylor and Rob are perfect as Jacob and Edward but they can’t compete with these 2babies 
(check out her video and you’ll see what she means) And for sure, ECLIPSE is going to win the best line so we put in the video hehe if you like our video, can you vote for us?”
Audrey did a really cute stylized spoof instead of the traditional “here are the 3 reason to vote for me” routine. If you like her video, please give her your vote!

Only Hours to Go Until the Official Illustrated Guide Releases
While we wait for the Breaking Dawn movie in November, fans can sink their teeth into the anticipated The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide which comes out TOMORROW April 12th.
Given the wealth of Twilight information the Lexicon has cultivated over the years, Lori and Laura were pleased to work with Little, Brown in providing research and data for the initial draft of the Guide.
We’ve really been looking forward to the Guide, and were even more excited when it was announced by Little Brown that there were extensive illustrations, and the title was revised from the “Official Guide” to the “Official Illustrated Guide”. We’re sure you’re all going to adore the Guide as much as we will. Once it releases tomorrow, please stop by our forums the discuss all the details.
