Maximo TV: Tinsel Korey Talks Role Prep

Are any of you Halo fans like Tinsel?

Tinsel Korey, Julia Jones, and Alex Meraz Grab Some Sugar in Las Vegas

Our friends over at the Quileute Wolfpack site (which by the way is an awesome site for anyone who is Team Jacob focused!) were in Las Vegas to cover an in-store appearance by Alex Meraz, Tinsel Korey, and Julia Jones.

Here’s part of the account:

“I had rushed to Planet Hollywood at a little past 2:00pm, thinking I was going to be really late for the Sugar Factory appearance, and it didn:t help very much that I had my 16-month old in tow. I found “Princess Parking” on the 4th floor and expertly unfolded the stroller. So there I was, rushing through the Miracle Mile Shopping area, pushing the stroller like a professional F-1 racer through the crowds. But when I got to the Sugar Factory at a little past 2:30pm, I discovered that there was still an awaiting crowd.

I leisurely got tothe back of the make-shift line, and as unsuspecting tourists walked by, they all asked the same question – “What’s this line for?” to which I answered, “Some of the actors from Twilight are here .”

Reactions varied from “OMG! I have to take pics!” to “Twilight? Meh” to “What’s Twilight?” (Seriously? Are you just visiting our planet?)”

Booboo Stewart and Tinsel Korey Punking Each Other

At the Parsippany, New Jersey stop of the Official Twilight Convention by Creation Entertainment, Booboo Stewart and his dad decided to pull a prank on Tinsel Korey.  Booboo and his dad constantly do things behind the scenes to trick the members of the wolfpack. It’s hilarious to watch them plotting because Booboo has this angelic, butter-won’t-melt-in-his-mouth innocent expressions and his dad (a stuntman, who is the size of an NFL linebacker) turns into this giddy, 13-year-old boy.

Anyway, the two of them get it into their heads that they are going to sneak into the back of Tinsel Korey’s Q & A session and then hit her with a prank question when it goes to questions being opened up to the floor. What they didn’t anticipate was the instead of staying on the stage, Tinsel decided to walk around the audience as she answered questions. So, she spotted them and turned the tables.

We got tipped off to what was going down about 10 seconds before Booboo snuck in. We had to record it all on Laura’s IPhone because there was no time to get a better camera.

So check it out. The audio is really clear. The video wobbles a bit because Laura was laughing really hard.

Booboo is winning us over in a really Mike Welch entertainer sort of way. You may just spot Laura wearing a Team Booboo shirt in the future.

Alex Meraz, Julia Jones, and Tinsel Korey at Tao in Las Vegas

Alex Meraz, Tinsel Korey, and Julia Jones hung out with fans at the beach party at the Tao Beach yesterday. There are some great pictures here. Interesting random fact, Alex apparently has some seriously intricate ink on both his feet, who knew?

A reporter also interviewed the trio on career vs celebrity and being in the public eye.

What’s the testosterone level like on the set?

Collider: Tinsel Korey Opens Up About About Playing Emily

Christina Radish is now writing for Collider, and this is one of her debut interviews. As usual it doesn’t ask the same old questions.

Once you were cast, were there specific things you wanted to make sure you did with this character?

Tinsel: I just wanted to honor who Emily was. She’s just a strong woman. Through my journey of playing her, I found a lot of strength, and I think that I’ve changed, as a female, in the way that I carry myself. To go through something traumatic, like getting your face scarred, it made me analyze vanity a lot. When you have a little pimple and you’re like, “Oh, my god, there’s an alien on my face!,” you feel like it’s magnified.

Even though she’s dealing with a scar, Emily just carries on with life. It’s not a big deal. While we were shooting the scene, I tried it different ways. I tried it where I was hiding my face, and Chris [Weitz] was like, “Let’s try it where she doesn’t care,” and that’s who she is. She doesn’t care what anybody else thinks. She stands proud in who she is. And, I met this girl who had a huge scar on her leg from a car accident. She was talking about how, after it first happened, she would always wear long pants and cover it up. But, as she started to grow into it, she decided that that’s just her now. It’s just a part of who she is. She wears skirts and she shows it off now.

I just thought there was something so beautiful about that. No matter what happens to you in life, you just roll with it. And then, when we went back to shoot Eclipse, I went to Quileute and taught some acting to the kids, and just got to spend some time in the community, which was great because it gave me an idea of where Emily came from. And, I also went to the Makah Nation ‘cause that’s where Emily is originally from and spent time with them too. Seeing the whole spectrum of who she is as a being was cool. And, I miss it. It’s beautiful. I miss the kids a lot. I miss everything about that whole entire adventure.”

The Wolfpack Goes InStyle

JuliaInStyleTinsel Korey, Chaske Spencer, Julia Jones, and Alex Meraz are all featured in the current InStyle.

““This is you. This is your role.”

The Eclipse casting directors weren’t the first to think Jones, a part-time model and Columbia graduate, was perfect for the part of Leah, the only female wolf. “One of my closest friends read the books before the first movie came out,” she reported, “and she always said, ‘This is going to be you. This is your role.’” Nevertheless, Jones admits to some trepidation about taking on Twilight. “Everybody has an idea of who the character is in their mind, and there’s no way I’m going to be that person for everyone,” she explained. “I just have to hope that the way I bring Leah to life wins people over.”
Tinsel, Alex, Chaske, and Julia all have individual coverage. See the entire write up on InStyle.
