What’s Missing From the Meet Jacob Black Trailer

MTV has a rundown of missing elements from the most recent trailer from the Volturi to the elusive Quil:

“Shirtless Taylor Lautner? In-costume Dakota Fanning? Strung-out-looking Robert Pattinson? Check, check and check. But although the “New Moon” trailer entitled “Meet Jacob Black” gave us plenty of fun things to look at — again, and again, and again — it also continued to omit plenty.

Depending on your point of view, the two “New Moon” trailers have either held back all the best stuff or done a good job of giving us glimpses at just enough to get our butts in theater seats. But at the risk of paraphrasing Veruca Salt: We want it all, and we want it now!”

So agree or disagree with MTV, did you like what you saw, or did you like Veruca from Willy Wonka want more?

Twilight Themed Yearbook Photos the Latest Rage

TY to Tori for the tip on this one.  The photography magazine, Rangefinder, has an entire feature on how Twilight themed photoshoots are becoming popular.

Photographer Hernan Rodriguez explains how he went about getting the look (see page 5)

“The Twilight craze is huge with the young generation. Teen guys are hip
to this style, and girls want a guy who looks like this. We were after a shot
with senior Jason that had a dark, mysterious look with blue undertones,
which presented an interesting challenge. We couldn’t shoot Jason in
the middle of a dark mystical forest. We would have had to scout a place
and bring in generators to light it up like a Christmas tree, so instead we
brought the forest to our senior in postproduction.”

Bobby Long in Memphis

Bobby Long’s Dangerous Summer Tour made a stop in Memphis today where Bobby did an interview with WREG Live at 9 News. Check out the clips below. In the first  Bobby performs Sick Man Blues and is interviewed. The second is him singing Left to Lie.

Bobby continues to tour the states through September.  If he is in an area near you it is totally worth checking him out.

Yahoo Talks about the Meet Jacob Black New Moon Trailer

Now with the New Moon  trailer released on the internet everyone is abuzz about how Taylor-centric  it is. Yahoo featured the trailer and a piece discussing Taylor. Warning if you are avoiding spoilers read no more!!

After watching this trailer (only about a hundred times!), there’s no doubt in my mind that “New Moon” is poised to be Taylor Launter’s turn as the saga’s new leading man. But can the 17-year-old actually pull it off? And will it leave fans asking RPattz who?

Creation Entertainment Partners With Summit

It’s no secret that the Lexicon has been enjoying doing presentations at Creation Entertainment’s TwiTour this summer. We just got back from Phoenix where we had a blast this past weekend, and we are looking forward to the next sold out spot on the tour in New Jersey. Well they just surprised us with this announcement.

Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions

Los Angeles, CA  August 17, 2009 – Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment today announced a partnership to produce a series of Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions over the next three years.

The unprecedented success of both the Twilight novels by Stephenie Meyer and the feature film adaptation of the first book has created a worldwide following of passionate fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, the second movie in Summit’s TWILIGHT film franchise, which will be released theatrically in North America on November 20, 2009.

Chris Weitz: Rotten Tomatoes Gives An Up Close Look

In today’s New Moon Monday,Jen Amato of Rotten Tomatoes takes a look at the career of the man helming New Moon, Chris Weitz.

“During our visit to the set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, we watched from afar as director Chris Weitz ran a seemingly tidy ship. His quiet, polite mannerisms, even during take after take, and his relative expedience moving from one set up to another spoke to a sea change from the type of set Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke reportedly ran: the focused, well-mannered workman vs. the wonderfully eccentric artist. The fans will be pleased, we thought to ourselves. Weitz looks like he knows what he’s doing.”

Bandslam: No Twilight Boost?

Bandslam opened this weekend and it hasn’t had a Twilight landslide at the box office. In honesty, we don’t know that anyone quite expected that, but our poll earlier in the week indicated that about 20% of those participating in the poll had not initially intended to see Bandslam, but were because the New Moon trailer was running in front of it and/or because of all the additional PR had sparked their interest.

Various reviewers talk about the film. Most seem to think that critically(not that it’s about to win an academy award), it was a much better script than they anticipated for something billed as a teen summer movie:

Hit Fix: “Another film hoping to generate some buzz was Summit Entertainment’s “Bandslam.” The universally well-reviewed teen rock band flick found only $880,000 at the box office Friday.  That was even more disappointing for the mini-major taking into account “Twilight” fans were forced to see the picture to get a sneak peek at “The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s” new trailer.  It’s clear many of the passionate fans were willing to wait until it debuts online next week or even longer (it may have been in Summit’s best interest to insist the trailer would never be available outside of theaters).  In any event, the Vanessa Hudgens picture is hoping to inch toward $3 million for the weekend.”

On The  Flix: “Summit Entertainment’s new Bandslam flick finally hit the the theaters this weekend,and after watching it, I must say, I felt good. It was a feel good type of movie that brought a good mixture of comedy,drama, and inspiration.”

Stephenie Meyer: “And finally movies. Mostly when I get out to a movie, it’s a kid’s movie. So Pixar’s Up was the highlight of my summer. And then this Saturday I went to see an actual grown-up people movie, yay! Admittedly, I went to see the New Moon trailer on the big screen (yes, I’m a total dork. Who cares? It was worth it). But then I stayed to see Bandslam because the reviews were so good, and I was glad I did. With my hopeless love of music coupled with my total lack of musical ability, I really dug Will. He’s my hero right now. It had a good soundtrack, as one might expect, a lot of very quotable one-liners, and it turned upside down some of those lame female-interaction stereotypes. It’s a good time.”

Taylor Lautner: Holding Up Under Pressure

Buddy TV has a great article up on how the pressure of New Moon shifts from Tylor Lautner to Robert Pattinson.

“I’m guessing you’ve already picked up the latest copy of Entertainment Weekly, or at the very least, saw the magazine’s feature on New Moon online, as part of their fall movie preview.  To be honest, there weren’t really many new details on the article: it’s stuff we’ve already heard about, from Chris Weitz coming in as director to Taylor Lautner buffing up to become a bulkier Jacob.  And then there are the behind-the-scenes stuff which actually sound fun.  But, in a pretty odd manner, I realized that–unlike in Twilight, where the attention was on Robert Pattinson–this time around, it’s Taylor’s turn on the hot seat.”
