Octopus Weighs In on Team Edward vs. Team Jacob

Apparently there’s this psychic octopus (no that isn’t a typo and no we haven’t been drinking) who gives World Cup Football and now Twilight predictions. Go figure.

TY to Matt for the heads up.

EDITED: Judging from the comments we got punked! Pel will take the blame on this one, she doesn’t speak German, Alphie does and she’s busy at the Indy convention. However, manips or not it’s still pretty funny. So whether the person who tipped us off punked us or someone else, hats off prank well done!

Real Estate Tycoon The Latest Twi-Guy

This is one we would never have predicted. It’s a fascinating read.

“Tom Barrack is one of the biggest real-estate deal-makers in the world. His investment firm, Colony Capital LLC, has raised $16 billion from pension plans and other big investors to buy properties like gaming company Station Casinos Inc., Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, and possibly even Walt Disney Co.’s Miramax movie studio.

But recently, it turns out, Mr. Barrack has also been doing some soul-searching—thanks to Stephenie Meyer’s popular vampire-novel series, “Twilight.”

In a July 2 memo encouraging his employees to consider outside points of view—you can read it in full at the end of this post—Mr. Barrack describes a lonely evening on a yacht in Turkey after a cancelled business meeting. In the yacht, Mr. Barrack writes, he came upon a book on which “were written the words that strike terror in the hearts of every macho, red-blooded male…TWILIGHT.” He goes on:

As I sat there with nothing to do the book kept taunting me. I began to think that there must be something I don’t understand. What could it be? What is it all about? Women don’t just read these books, they live them. They become each paragraph. I picked it up, but then immediately dropped it like a hot coal. What if someone saw me reading this? My macho reputation would be finished! I would be kicked out of the bench press section of the gym. My polo compadres would send me packing to the pony rides and my surfing buddies would exile me to the kiddie pool.

But it was a long night and there was absolutely nothing, and I mean NOTHING else to do. Long story short—not only did I read Twilight, I read the other two as well!! I was fascinated, captivated even. However, what intrigued me was not the same thing that hooked the millions of women whose lives and had been changed by this series, but something else entirely.

Mr. Barrack argues that the “anticipation” in the romantic relationship between a teenage girl and a vampire has made the “Twilight” series compelling to millions of women.

Men, however, are all about the destination, the result, the speed and the outcome. The journey is merely penance to get to the destination. Which is why despite the vampires and werewolves, this book is kryptonite to most men.”

See more on the Wall Street Journal. It’s some of the best in depth Twilight discussion from a guy who “gets it”.

LiL C is on Team Edward

LiL C, who many know as one of the judges from So You Think You Can Dance, has now professed his Twilight Team. Last night LiL C tweeted:

My #twilight allegiance liez w/???????

Drumroll pleaze!!!!!

TeamEdward!!!!!!!!!!!!

LiL C is not the only So You Think You Can Dance Twilight fan. Last year Mary Murphy walked the New Moon Red Carpet and we got her to put New Moon on the Hot Tamale train.

There have also been several dancers Mollie, Jeanine, Randi who have been Twilight fans. In fact Jeanine, the season 5 winner tweeted, ” After Eclipse I’ve derived a new plan to find my dream man… Making arrangements to convert my living room to a field of purple flowers.”

In the past there have been Twilight inspired dances, and given that Summit Entertainment is the studio behind Step Up 3D (did you catch that preview when you went to Eclipse) maybe there is more to come.

Breaking Dawn Filming Locations Confirmed

This just in from Summit:

Summit Entertainment’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will be filmed in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Vancouver over the next year starting this fall. The next chapter of THE TWILIGHT SAGA will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011.

Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

There is no specific information as to exactly what will be filmed in which location.  There is speculation that since Jacob’s House, the Quileute beach, and the meadow physically exist in the Vancouver area that those locations would likely be used again. Interiors could obviously be built in either location. Bella’s house is a modular, transportable unit. It too could be in either location. Scene on Isle Esme and in the hunt for Cullen supporters in the confrontation could lend themselves nicely to Louisiana geography.

EW: The Costume Process in Eclipse

EW had a chat with designer Tish Monaghan on how the clothing has evolved in the third movie. Tish Monaghan was also the costume designer on New Moon, whereas Wendy Chuck was the designer for Twilight.

• Robert Pattinson wanted to wear karate pants for the training sequence. “So we got him some karate pants, and it’s like the crotch hangs down to the knees, and I just thought, Ugh. Who’s gonna go for this? Because everything has to be approved by Summit,” Monaghan says. “We took them in a little bit, and they loved the karate pants. Who knew? I was so surprised.”

• Even at the film’s premiere, people squealed when Taylor Lautner turned around in that black T-shirt. “It was almost embarrassing. I felt so bad for him,” Monaghan says, with a laugh. “They were screaming and going ‘Wooooo!’” As she’d done on New Moon, her M.O. was to put him in smaller size Gap or Banana Republic T-shirts to emphasize his biceps, tightening the tees around the arm holes and taking them in down the side. (Pattinson wore Gap T-shirts, exclusively, she adds. “They were what fit him best. They had the best colors. So that’s what he ended up wearing, even when Edward takes Bella up to the tent. It may strike people as odd, but he doesn’t feel temperature, so that’s why we only put him in a shirt, and Bella’s all bundled up, and Jacob, of course, is running around shirtless.”
