Fanjunket Friday: Apples Are Everywhere

Twilight Series Theories has a huge 15 minute segment of the fan junket interview transcribed. It is mostly about Stephenie’s interactions with fans.

Fansite: And then we just want to know, out of all the things we’ve touched on today is there anything that maybe you want to say to the fans that you haven’t been able to say?  Any message or…

SM: You know, I feel like the fans, they know, they know me.  I feel like they kinda know who I am and that I appreciate them.  I write for myself, and I have to, but I appreciate them because having an audience is a gift and I do not take that for granted.  It is really amazing to sit in a room with people and talk about people that you made up: “Hey, let’s talk about my imaginary friends!”  And you guys care about my imaginary friends, and that’s weird, but…

(chatter and laughter)

Fansite: At least you don’t have to take medication for it.

SM: Exactly! [inaudible] I get to talk to people about it.  I’m not a therapist.  No, it’s cool because writing is—for me, everybody has something different for them.  And you guys all write, in a different way, but I’m assuming there’s a lot of pleasure in it for you or you wouldn’t do it and so you know what it is to have somebody read what you’ve written and enjoy it.  It’s a really big deal, and so I just hope that people keep reading.  I hope they give me a chance.  I hope when my next book isn’t Midnight Sun that people still will give it a chance.  I feel bad that that’s a negative for the fandom and it’s something I that I want to do, but I want to do it right, and that’s just how—and I only write when it brings me joy.

Fansite: Your happy place.

SM: It is my happy place.  And having readers is a different happy place, but a really fun one. And as you can see from the books I love reading.  I love books.  I love being in that world and one of the coolest things with helping, you know making people happy, is [for] a lot of people this is the springboard and then they go on to bigger and better and exciting books.  There’s so many cool things out there.  People that—being a reader is who I am my whole life—and that people haven’t discovered that makes me a little crazy.  It’s like: “No! There’s so much!”  I remember talking to a guy when I was touring for The Host and he was mic-ing me up for the Glenn Beck thing that I did, which was weird.  I haven’t done that a lot where you’re looking at a camera and you’re supposed to be talking to them…and oh it’s creepy.  We’re talking and he’s like: “So you wrote a book about aliens?” And I’m like: “Yeah.”  And I said, “What do you like to read?”  He says, “Oh I don’t read books.  I’ve read maybe three books in my life.  I hate reading.”  And I thought, “That’s because they gave you the wrong ones!”  They gave him the wrong ones and he has no idea of all the stuff that he’s missing.  It makes me a little crazy.  I just want everyone to go out and find Jasper Fforde.  And I want [them] to go out and find Mark Zusak and I want them to find these amazing books and go to the young adult section and find what’s out there.  There’s so much.  If you haven’t read Suzanne Collins, oh my gosh, do it!”

Rachelle Lefevre Interviewed in Montreal Gazette

Photograph by: Maude Arsenault, The Gazette
Rachelle talked about her upcoming film Barney’s Version (the film that was in conflict with the Eclipse shoot schedule)

“We’re sitting in a typical hole-in-the-wall café in Little Italy, the cement floor amplifying the noise of the cappucino machine and old men gossiping at a back table, when a young man approaches and says he thinks he knows Rachelle Lefevre.

The Montreal-born, Hollywood-based actress handles it well, even when he sits down uninvited at our table; she’s gracious and kind, asking if they’ve met. They haven’t. The obvious is left unsaid: he probably recognizes her from Twilight, the wildly popular vampire film franchise in which Lefevre played evil Victoria in the first two of three movies. Welcome to the downside of celebrity in its most benign form, a small intrusion into everyday life.

Lefevre, 31, was in town this summer for Eyes Wide Open, the extravagant masked ball to benefit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She agreed to play model for us and talk about fame, film and fashion.”

Team of With Peter Facinelli and Cookie Baking to Fight Cancer

The folks at Glad products (the sandwich bag people) have a regular charity outreach program called Glad to Give. It is currently focusing on cancer. According to their press release:

“Sometimes people can change the world—one cookie at a time…

That’s the idea behind Cookies for Kids’ Cancer™, a non-profit organization founded by parents inspired by their young son’s ongoing fight against cancer. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer™ inspires individuals, organizations, and businesses to join in the fight against pediatric cancer by raising funds and awareness through local bake sales and online efforts.

Today pediatric cancer is the number 1 cause of death by disease of children in the U.S., due in large part to the need for funding for research into new and improved therapies. Host a bake sale and raise funds to join Cookies for Kids’ Cancer™ in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Glad is teaming up with three celebrities this fall:

  • Jayma Mays, everyone’s favorite high school guidance counselor from “Glee”
  • Joan Cusack, Hollywood’s funny woman and resident “mom
    on a mission”
  • Peter Facinelli, the hottest doctor on TV and star of
    The Twilight Saga

This November, Jayma, Joan and Peter will go head-to-head in a celebrity cookie challenge where they will compete to raise the most money through a month–long online bake sale.

Show your support by joining your favorite team at www.facebook.com/gladtogive and learn more about the upcoming challenge.”

Peter also Tweeted about his involvement.

Twilight Crew Member Passes Away

Our friend, casting director Lana Veenker, just let us know some sad news. A member of the Twilight crew, Bradford Turner (props assistant) passed away unexpectedly. Some of you who visited the Twilight set in Portland may have encountered Brad who was always friendly towards the fans. Part of his obituary on Oregon Live reads:

“(He)pursued his love of film at Portland Community College and University of Oregon. He loved fishing, hunting, skiing, and especially his time at the family home in Gearhart. His motion picture work in Portland eventually took him to Hollywood, where he worked on many film and TV projects as a property master. After 10 years in Hollywood, he returned to Portland and worked on projects that included “Twilight,” “Extraordinary Measures,” and “Leverage.” His spirit touched the lives of many friends and fellow workers in the industry.”

It was the work of many people like Brad, working on a small, independent film that no one in Hollywood cared about or took seriously that helped to launch the twilight films to where they are today.  For our part, his work was appreciated.

Lana also told us that “the family has suggested donations in his name to the Pixie Project. This organization helps the homeless who have dogs care for them and find housing that will accept dogs.  It helps dogs and cats get vaccines, spaying and neutering, and runs an animal adoption service and day care.”

Pittsburgh Area Fans Peter Facinelli Heading Your Way

Taylor Lautner isn’t the only Twilight fan heading to your town.

Slow Start

Hi All,

Sorry for the lack of news posting yesterday and the slow start today. We’ll be posting shortly. Sometimes real life gets in the way and family and our day jobs take precedence.

If I could just take a moment to ask if you are so inclined to keep Lori’s (Alphie’s) mom in your thoughts and prayers. Those of you who have won giveaways, it’s Lori’s mom who picks the random winner. She gets a real kick out of doing that.  In fact, Lori’s mom gets a real charge out the the whole Twilight hoopla. When she went to her first convention, she just loved looking at all the dedicated fans and enjoyed interacting with them. Unfortunately, Lori’s mom hasn’t been doing too well over the last few weeks.  Lori has no idea that I’m writing this and she’s probably going to kill me later, but if you could leave a pick me up message for Lori’s mom and Lori in the comments it would mean a lot.

Live Near Los Angeles? The Scream Awards Need You!

The below offer just came in from the folks who run the Scream Awards. Twilight is up for a TON of awards this year! In addition to the info in the graphic, they wanted us to note that:

“People wanting to attend, should put “Twilight Lexicon” in the subject line as well. Also, the flyer mentions putting their “School”…that can be disregarded. As long as they are 18+, they are good to go!”

Don’t forget to vote for Twilight at the Scream Awards!

FearNet: Hopes For the Eclipse DVD

ECLIPSE-Special-Edition-DVDFearNet talks about the possibilities that an Eclipse DVD might have to offer:

“What’s a Twilight fan to do during the long, agonizing wait until Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters in November 2011?

If you’re like us, you’re obsessing over the newly announced home video release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which hits shelves December 4, 2010 packed with special features, commentaries, and more on DVD and Blu-ray.

In fact, the list of extra material was so tantalizing that it momentarily distracted from reading the Stephenie Meyer-endorsed The Hunger Games, and we started thinking… what do we really want to see in the Eclipse bonus features?

The Gore We Were Promised, Kinda

Eclipse director David Slade, who made all sorts of delicious red stuff spill in the snow in his other vampire flick 30 Days of Night, kept things pretty PG-13 for the Twilight crowd. But back in June, he told us that at least one of his vampire battle decapitation shots was too hot for the MPAA’s sensibilities. (“We had this one part in the battle where Emmett just tears someone’s face off,” he said. “The face kind of breaks off into pieces of crystal that shatter.”)

Will we get to see extended, unused footage of Emmett ripping some vampire faces off on Blu-ray, even if they shatter bloodlessly like pieces of marble? Let’s hope.”

See more on FearNet.

We are personally hoping for the Rosalie scene where she attacks her attackers, and the hopes of a Bella scene where she considers her options with Jacob.

Troix Magazine Launches Today

Troix Magazine launches today. They have been teasing us over the past few weeks with some outtakes of footage with Jackson Rathbone. Here’s what they describe in their press release:

“…The digital debut of TROIX Magazine launched today.

TROIX (which means “Three More” in French slang) is a leading-edge digital magazine featuring young personalities of screen, teleision, music, and more.  From inside their comfort zones; un-rehearsed, un-censored, and free to be who they are.
This month, we feature 40+ must see pages on Jackson Rathbone, known mostly as the contained vampire in Twilight.  TROIX brings you Jackson—the multi-talented, chameleon of a person; and as you’ve never seen him before.
We also bring you Britney, Christina, Ke$ha, and a dead bird (on a slab in the morgue)—all in one video. That one you’re just gonna have to see for yourself.
TROIX will not overwhelm with content.  You come, you see, you listen.  Then you go on with your busy young life.  A life we hope will be just a bit more fulfilled after getting a “FIX” from TROIX.  Come back one month later, but in between, we’ll be feeding you a few morsels.  After all, we wouldn’t want you going into complete withrdrawals.
Check out the issue and let us know what you think!”
Lexicon note: Please be advised that some of the images in the magazine are skirting the PG-13/R line and are on the boundary of work safe images.
