Glad things worked out for Judi Shekoni who plays Zafrina! On a personal note, never let anyone give you the details of their lasik. Lori and Stephenie thoroughly scared Laura from ever having lasik when they compared their procedures during a car ride a few years back.

Peter Facinelli Hooks Up With Fantapper to Fight Cancer
This press release just in from Fantapper:
Actor Peter Facinelli, star of THE TWILIGHT SAGA and “Nurse Jackie,” has launched a new effort to raise funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer through an online experience. With the help of Fantapper, Peter has invited fans to submit photos for a special vampire treatment which they can share digitally with their friends. Once the campaign reaches two million viewers, the Southern California Foundation will make a $50,000 donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
A longtime supporter of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ASLF), Facinelli hopes to bring new awareness to the organization while engaging with fans through Fantapper.
“Fans can support ALSF without spending a dime – and have some fun in the process,” said Facinelli. “Fantapper gives me a way to connect with people directly and share the things I’m passionate about – like supporting kids and families struggling with childhood cancer. And who wouldn’t want to be turned into a vampire for a great cause?”
People can email their photos to [email protected] and watch for the results by downloading Peter’s free Fantapper app at www.ifiwereavampire.com.
“We have been so thrilled to have the continuing support of Peter Facinelli in the battle against childhood cancer,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mom. “We are hopeful that Peter’s fans – and everyone interested in supporting kids facing childhood cancer – will participate and share #ifiwereaVampire with their friends and family. We think the Fantapper campaign is a win-win opportunity to support our efforts.”
The campaign is currently live and will run through Monday, June 27; full details are available at: www.fantapper.com.

Mixed Results in Summit Music Lawsuit Case
![]()
Remember when we told you back in February about a musician who attempted to market his songs to Twilight fans and had his music pulled? It sparked legal action, and now there’s more to the story.
According to Reuters:
“Matthew Smith, created “Eternal Knight” in 2002, several years before the “Twilight” novels and films appeared in the marketplace. But late last year, Heart engineered a bold marketing campaign to make his music popular. He posted the song on YouTube and had it for sale in iTunes and other outlets. He paid to promote the song in movie theaters for 28 weeks and — perhaps most controversially — he commissioned CD cover art that showed a moon similar to “Twilight’s” logo with a note that the song had been inspired by the “Twilight” saga.
Summit’s lawyers seemed to think this was an attempt to trade off its intellectual property in a brazen effort to reach “Twilight” fans, so they registered takedowns at various websites. The song was removed.
Heart then sued, claiming that he had a legitimately copyrighted song and Summit was committing fraud and misrepresentation and interfering with his relationships with vendors.
In a decision last week, Ohio federal judge James Carr dismissed Heart’s allegations that Summit committed fraud and induced emotional distress because Heart couldn’t sufficiently show a cause of action and enough specificity in his injury.
But Judge Carr allowed Heart’s main allegations to continue — that Summit sent a takedown notice even though it didn’t have any copyright interest in Heart’s song.”
Alex Meraz and Chaske Spencer Film May Shoot in Montanta This Summer
According to the Billings Gazette:
“An independent feature film focused on a fictional Crow youth and his family will be made in Montana this fall, if funding can be secured.
The producer of “Last Man Stands” is Petra Ahmann of Silverline Cinema in New York City. Ahmann is a 2004 graduate of Laurel High School.
Alex Portugal, also of Silverline, wrote the screenplay and will direct the full-length film.
Locations for the movie could include Laurel, Hardin, the Crow Reservation and other local spots. Ahmann and Portugal were in town for about 10 days to solidify more of the production details.
Most of the cast is already in place, Portugal said, with Alex Meraz, one of the wolves from the “Twilight” movies in the lead role of Taylor Brewer. Irene Bedard, who plays the part of his mother, is best known as the voice of Pocahontas in the Disney movie of the same name.
Raoul Trujillo, who has a part in the upcoming “Cowboys and Aliens,” has been cast in the role of Taylor’s father, and Chaske Spencer, another “Twilight” wolf, has the role as Taylor’s older brother.”
Taylor Lautner the New Face of Bench in the Philippines
“Bench has followed in the footsteps of other local brands by hiring a Hollywood star to endorse its products.
According to The Philippine Star entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, Bench tapped American actor Taylor Lautner to become its newest endorser.
Lo’s source, however, did not say if Lautner, who rose to fame by playing Jacob Black in “The Twilight Saga”, would model its shirts, pants or underwear.”
It’s not unusual for American actors to do commercials in the Asian market, but not to do them in the USA. In the USA, a-list actors doing product promotion (other than voiceover work) has largely been frowned upon as taking a career step back. However in Asia it’s a whole other story. Some notable examples are Brad Pitt, Jodi Foster, and Christina Aguilera.
Hourglass by Myra McEntire
We here at the Lexicon would like to wish Myra McEntire a very happy book birthday on June 14th. Myra has been an incredible supporter of the Lexicon for years and has helped at several of the movie events in Nashville.
I’ve had the chance to read Hourglass and trust me this book makes for an excellent summer read. The writing is witty and snarky. Emerson is one of the sassiest main characters I’ve ever met and she isn’t going to let anyone push her around. Enter Michael, the boy who has the answers, well some of them, and a wicked smile. The story is fast paced and filled with memorable characters. (just wait until you meet Kaleb) Add in the timeslip factor and you have a truly unique story.
Myra is embarking on a brand new adventure as her book makes its way into the world. Please help Myra celebrate her big day by tweeting her (@MyraMcEntire) use the #Hourglass or leaving a comment below. And what would a party be without presents?!?!? We are giving away a SIGNED copy of Hourglass. Leave a comment below to be entered for the chance to win. The contest is open internationally and will close on June 19th at 11PM EST.
Synopsis
Since the age of fourteen, Emerson Cole has seen strange things – dead things – swooning Southern Belles, soldiers, and other eerie apparitions of the past. She’s tried everything to get rid of the visions: medication, counseling, asylums. Nothing’s worked.
So when Emerson’s well-meaning brother calls in yet another consultant from a mysterious organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to give it one last try.
Michael Weaver is no ordinary consultant. He’s barely older than she is; he listens like no one she’s ever met before; and he doesn’t make her feel the least bit crazy. As Emerson ventures deeper into the world of the Hourglass, she begins to learn the truth about her past, her future–and her very life.
