Twilight Lexicon Wins Shmoop Award!

Named Best of the Web for New Moon by Shmoop
We had quite the surprise today when we received an email telling us we had won a Shmoop Award. We hadn’t entered ourselves, and we weren’t aware that anyone nominated us, or brought our name up to the nominating committee.
The Shmoop organization itself has won some prestigious web recognition being recognized by PC Magazine as “The Best of the Internet”, they were a Webby Award Winner in 2009, and have been touted by sites such as The School Library Journal and Mashable.
According to the organization’s email to us, “Shmoop is an education website for students and teachers (middle school through college ages). Our mission is to make learning fun and relevant for today’s students. Each of our learning guides includes a “Best of the Web” section, where we point teachers and students to quality, reliable websites for further exploration. And we picked your site!
Our writers (who are mostly Ph.D. students at Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, etc.) pick the sites that go into our Best of the Web section. Teachers and students rely on our expert writers to point out only the highest quality websites, so you should feel quite honored!”
We are truly touched and honored. Alphie and Pel would like to publicly thank the Shoomp organization for acknowledging our website; however, more importantly, we would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Lexicon administrators and forum moderators. Without their hard work we would be unable to maintain the website and make it a fun place to visit. So again a sincere thank you to the Shmoop organization and to everyone who helps keep the Lexicon running!
Remember Me: Early Reviews Are In
There were two sites that inexplicably ran reviews of Remember Me about two weeks ago based not on the actual film, but based upon having read an early draft of the script. There were some glaring inaccuracies in those reviews which also misrepresented and spoiled the ending in a a very (in our opinion) exploitative manner.
Well now outlets that have actually seen the film are chiming in and the reviews are good. Which is fabulous, because as an added benefit, if you are interested in Remember Me, you can see the Eclipse trailer on the big screen just before it. Call it a double helping of two very different doses of Robert Pattinson.
From The Hollywood Reporter: “Bottom Line: A strong romantic drama in which Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin really shine….The scenes between Pattinson and de Ravin exude genuine charm. One wants these two to get together. They are likable without being saccharine.” Read the rest here (warning plot spoilers)
From Reuters: “But to return to the original point: “Remember Me” is a smart, engaging drama about a romance. With the “Twilight” franchise’s Robert Pattinson topping a fine cast — the actor executive produces as well — “Remember Me” should attract strong opening-weekend audiences after it comes out on Friday though Summit Entertainment. However, it will find its legs with women young and old who will spark to a romance without the off-color humor and male boorishness that so often accompanies romantic fare these days. ” Read the rest here (warning plot spoilers)

Anna Kendrick We Love You
Congratulation to Anna Kendrick for being nominated as best supporting actress and handling herself with such class and grace.

“I think of something Helen Mirren said at the Palm Springs Film Festival,” she says. “You’re only in the nomination bubble for a short period of time, and if you lose, the bubble bursts that night. If you win, it bursts 24 hours later. Either way, you go home, live your life and wake up the next day looking for work. That’s how I look at it.” source

Collider: Chris Weitz New Moon DVD Interview
Frosty from Collider interviewed Chris Weitz on the making of the New Moon DVD. Now Frosty had a different perspective from most in that he was able to get some early info from Chris back at Comic Con. Check out the interview, it shows how things evolve over time.
“With The Twilight Saga: New Moon hitting DVD and Blu-ray on March 20, I was able to talk with director Chris Weitz about the upcoming release. When the film was getting ready to hit theaters, I asked Chris Weitz about the eventual DVD release and he told me to expect a commentary from Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and about ten minutes of deleted scenes. So when I got the specs of the DVD/Blu-ray and saw there was no commentary and no deleted scenes, I knew this would be the main topic of conversation. Also, I asked everyone on Twitter to send me questions and a ton of you asked me about the deleted scenes and commentary.
The way Weitz described it to me, the reason you’re not going to be able to hear Kristen, Rob and Taylor is due to time. When they were recording the commentary, for whatever reason, they couldn’t fit it into the schedule. I know it sucks for fans that were looking forward to it…but the DVD is due around the time the movie is getting released and that last month is very rough on everyone.”
Check out Chris’ answers to what happened to the actor commentary and where missing scenes may be on Collider.
