Ashley Greene and Robert Pattinson Casting Rumors

ashleyGreene-red carpetThe Hollywood Reporter (which we find credible) is stating that Ashley Greene will star in the new film Butter.

““Twilight” regular Ashley Greene has joined the Weinstein Co. comedy “Butter.”

Jennifer Garner is producing and starring in the film, based on the Black List screenplay written by newcomer Jason Micallef. Alissa Phillips and Mike De Luca are also producing the project, which director Jim Field Smith (“She’s Out of My League”) will begin filming next week in Louisiana.

“Butter” follows a number of competitive characters in a small Midwestern town as they become entwined in an annual butter-carving contest. Greene will play a rebellious high school teenager named Kaitlen Pickler. (Do I smell a sequel built around anaerobic fermentation?)”

The UK Tabloid The Sun is reporting that Robert Pattinson will play Kurt Cobain in a biopic. Though a lot of media is picking up on this story, we are not finding it credible as The Sun notoriously has information such as this wrong. Only last week they were reporting that David Walliams from Little Britain was supposed to audition when no director has signed on the dotted line yet for casting to even begin.

New York Post’s Popwrap Interviews Jackson Rathbone

JacksonFeedMePopwrap talked to Jackson rathbone about his horror flick Dread hitting DVD, but the conversation also drifted to his music and the Twilight movies.

“As someone who has been watching horror movies for the better part of his 28 years, I can’t believe I’m about to write this sentence: I found the ending of “Dread” to be so unsettling, shocking and upsetting that I nearly vomited because of the film’s last act.

Now, that will cause one of two reactions for you: either “Dread” will be bumped to the top of your NetFlix queue or removed completely. If it’s the latter, I understand, but feel bad since you will miss one of the more intriguing movies that’s ever been included in the AfterDark Horror Fest.

I recently caught up with “Dread” star Jackson Rathbone and found out that my visceral reaction is exactly why he signed up for the film in the first place. We also talked about more palatable subjects, like what “Twilight” fans can expect to see in this summer’s hotly anticipated installment “Eclipse”!

PopWrap: I’m not going to lie, this film actually made me physically ill at the end.
Jackson Rathbone: Oh, excellent. That’s what I was hoping for!

PW: When did you know “Dread” had the ability to evoke this kind of response?
Jackson: I gave the script to a friend and he said that almost made him wretch, and that’s when I knew I had to make this movie.”

Former Bella Cullen Project Singer Releases CD

ChandlerNashSoloCoverBefore there was ever a Twilight movie, back in the days when people said “Stephenie who?” there was a Twilight all girls band. In fact, back in those days there were only two bands that hooked into Twilight, they were The Mitch Hansen Band and The Bella Cullen Project. Mitch is still going strong, but the Bella Cullen project amicably broke up late last year.

Chandler Nash, one of the former members of The Bella Cullen Project, now has a CD out. According to a press release from her management:

“Few 17-year old musicians can claim veteran status with a straight face.  Dallas singer-songwriter Chandler Nash is one.  Her previous band, The Bella Cullen Project (formed with two friends at a sleepover when they were just 13), released 2 full-length original albums; enjoyed over 1 million MySpace plays; performed live nationwide; and was featured on MTV, ABC’s Nightline, and in Esquire, People and CosmoGirl magazines.

Yet, as she embarks upon a solo career, this Dallas singer-songwriter remains eager to evolve her craft.  “I just want to keep playing,” Chandler enthuses.  “Since I was 6-years old I’ve always wanted to be a musician.  Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m still going to play music even if I’m just a wedding singer or something!”

Moving away from her old band’s folky sensibilities, Chandler is now melding diverse influences into contemporary, robust pop/rock expressions flecked with lurking country heartache.  On her debut, the aptly-titled Solo (released through Interscope Digital Distribution)

, increasingly accomplished songwriting connects through her emotive, lithe-yet-lived-in timbre.   “I like a little bit of everything,” mulls Chandler.  “[But] my favorite artists are kind of oldies like Billy Joel, The Beatles and Elton John.”

While many young, ambitious artists let themselves be molded by producers and Svengalis, Chandler writes for herself, from the heart.  She has already composed or co-written nearly 40 songs and, with her adult life just beginning and endless new experiences imminent, fans can expect that catalog to swiftly swell.

“If something big happens, then I’ll write about it,” she explains.  “That’s why my songs mean so much to me – because I pull from my own experiences.

There’s this one song [on Solo] called ‘Gotta Get Out Of Here’ that’s about my best friend since I was 6 or 7.  We stayed close through our freshman year, but then some tragic stuff happened in her life and we lost touch.  She’s always been on my mind, so I wrote about that.”

Live performance is a pillar of Chandler’s passion and, despite still being in high school, she performs regularly, both solo and with a full band.  “There’s just something a little more intimate about doing an acoustic [solo] set, because you get to talk to people more and it’s very raw – it’s just you and your voice.  But it’s easier when you’re playing with a big back-up band to kind of let go and let the music take over and really connect with all the people in the audience.”

Though Solo is now showing the world how far Chandler’s come as an artist, she retains a charmingly wide-eyed outlook that sets her apart.  “Of course I have huge dreams,” she concludes.  “I just want to go further but, even if I don’t, it doesn’t matter to me so long as I’m playing.  But I hope that it gets bigger and that I can tour around the country and get a bigger fan base, and maybe play at venues that I’ve been dreaming about playing since I was younger.”

The 7 track EP is now available in the following digital stores:  iTunes, Amazon mp3, MySpace Music, Rhapsody, Lala, Shockhound, Zune, Nokia and Amie Street with the physical CD coming soon to Amazon On Demand.

Kellan Lutz Movie Updates: Name Changes and New Co-Stars

Kellan eyesKellan Lutz is going to be busy squeezing in films before Breaking Dawn starts shooting. The roles range from romantic comedy to the gods.

According to ET, “Romantic comedy heaven is made when a ‘Twilight’ hunk and a pop star are cast as love interests. That is just the case in ‘Love, Wedding, Marriage,’ starring Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore as newlyweds…James Brolin and Jane Seymour have been tapped to play the parents…Actor Dermot Mulroney will be calling the shots in his directorial debut… reports The Hollywood Reporter. Though the movie may take on a different name, ‘Keep It Together,’ it has sent out save the date cards for April 19 to begin filming in Louisiana.”

According to Monsters and Critics, “Relativity Media has changed the title of its Greek mythology film from “War of the Gods” to “Immortals,” and announced that John Hurt and Isabel Lucas have joined the cast. Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto and Mickey Rourke have already been cast. The film follows the young warrior Theseus (Cavill), who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat the gods of the Titans. Florence Welch on Eclipse Soundtrack Possibiliites

MTV Australia talked to the Aussie-based UK singer Florence Welch about her Eclipse soundtrack ambitions.

“The singer has hinted that she may be recording a track for the next eagerly awaited vampire film ‘Eclipse’.

The movie is yet to be signed off, but she admits she could be following in the footsteps of artists including Muse and Paramore.
