We have been getting many questions about why Elizabeth Reaser has been absent from the publicity surrounding the Twilight film.  The answer to that question is simple.  She is currently staring in a broadway play.  And as many of you know the schedule broadway actors run is incredibly busy!  We wish her all the luck in the world during her production and assure you all that a Q&A is in the works with the Lexicon.  In the mean time here is a wonderul interview with Elizabeth that will allow you to get to know her in the mean time.

And finally this evening Aussie fans all over Australia are taking creative measures to get Summit’s attention.  This is the type of creativity that we spoke to earlier in the week when we addressed the recent rash of internet petitions.  Forks anyone?

Records from the road (The Host Tour: Part II)
Current mood:  refreshed

Best T-shirts/costumes: Salt Lake City

Smoothest event: Denver (So is the superpower of the Denver-ites super-efficiency? Or is it super-politeness? Or do they have some kind of control over the space-time continuum? More research is required.)

Most familiar faces + most movie stars in attendance: Portland

Most boy fans: Los Angeles (37—and we only counted actually readers this time, though there were many supportive dads, brothers, uncles, husbands, and boyfriends in attendance.)

Loudest: definitely San Diego. (They also came in very close in the boy-fan and the familiar faces categories. It was a good place to wrap up my last big tour.)

Edit: Stephenie remarks on her meeting Solomon Trimble (Sam) for the first time:

"It was pretty amazing. I looked up and did a double take. "Aren’t you…Sam?" I asked. Solomon laughed and agreed that he was. He had a couple of technical werewolf questions for me (ex. "Can werewolves phase underwater?" Answer: Yes) and I tried to control my enthusing. Solomon was super friendly and interesting, and though he looks awesome on film, he’s even more incredible in person. His features are just so stunning!"

in the news

It’s Twilight verses Harry Potter in a Reelz Channel face off.  (But we all know that it’s possible to love them both, no need for a fight here. :))  Be sure to watch for our very own Alphie in the video!

Both Hollywood.com and Celebrityphoto.com have pictures of our dynamic duo Kristen and Spunk from the MTV Movie Awards.

And finally this afternoon, Edi and I are in a current state of shock!  In less then 24 hours Twilight fans rallied together and reached that 1000 friend MySpace wish!  I am overcome.  When I saw the total this morning I literally teared up.  You never cease to astound me Twilight fans.  After he emailed me this morning to tell me the news I joked that maybe my goal should be diverted now since we already reached his goal.  Maybe we, as fans, should try for a little healthy competition?  Say…seeing if we can best Peter Facinelli’s MySpace total?  So what do you think Twilight fans, are you game for a Twilight friending stand off?  Edi verses Peter?  (All in good fun of course.)

The Twilight Lexicon Presents: Kristen Stewart

We are very happy to bring you  an interview with Kristen Stewart from  from our Portland, Oregon Twilight set visit.  We were so thrilled to meet her.  Let us assure you that she is a very friendly and warm person.   One of our favorite moments from Kristen  was when we first approached her and introduced ourselves, she reached out her hand and introduced HERself, too.  Such a very normal and somewhat humble thing for a popular film star to do!  We thank Kristen for the time she took out of her schedule to talk to us.

Through all the adventures of this very eventful day (from storms, to incoming tides, to an umbrella mishap Kristen so sweetly helped with) we enjoyed our time with the star of this film and appreciate the efforts Kristen took to put a warm smile on her face and make us feel welcome.

Pictures used in this video are used with the express permission of the LA Times.  To see these images and more in all their high resolution glory visit The Hollywood Backlot.

EDIT: Interview transcript painstakingly put together by Kelsieeeee:

Lexicon: Can you tell us what your vision of Bella is?

Kristen: Wow, that’s like a loaded question. I feel like she is a generally relatable character, you know, it’s like in the beginning of the story it’s not her choice to go to Forks, but really she HAS no other choice, it’s like, “Well, i don’t want to be on the road with my mom’s boyfriend”. I think what makes the love story so effective is that she doesn’t have any real connections with people, she’s bored and displaced. She is easily related to by most kids that age, and not just girls, but mainly because it’s…she doesn’t have…People really like her, she’s good hearted. She’s honest, she’s friendly, but she’s not really interested in other people, it’s sort of like she’s not an introvert but nothing dazzl… i can’t believe i actually just said the word dazzles!

Lexicon: How was it filming with Taylor as opposed to Rob?

Kristen: Rob’s a lot taller. They’re so different actually, they’re so, so different.

Lexicon: Which is something Bella has to deal with too.

Kristen: Yeah, I mean oddly enough, Jacob’s well, Taylor’s, warmer. No joke! I’m not just saying that! I’m serious! I’m not a… I don’t cheese it up. And that’s why in the beginning she’s like, “Wow, I’m a logical girl, I don’t understand.” It’s like something that overtakes you. Just because, Edwards wrought with so, so much, and he’s not. And Rob really, really encompasses that. I don’t want to say that he’s neurotic but definitely contemplates…

Lexicon: He’s into character.

Kristen: Yeah. But I think that’s what makes the love story so effective.

Copyright issues

As some of you may have noticed, many people who have typed out or scanned either the entire books, portions of the books or first chapter of Breaking Dawn have received (or should be receiving) a message from their hosting companies that notices were sent from my publisher to take the content down. I know people are eager to share their excitement about my books, which I love, but you may not be aware that making portions of the book available for download is violating my copyright (unless you have written permission from me or my publisher). Quoting a sentence or two is fine, but anything beyond that is in violation of copyright. Basically, copyright gives an author control over where, when and how her work is made available to the public. This exists to protect the author and her work – a lot of effort has been put into creating these books for you to enjoy — so I hope people cooperate in respecting the copyright for all my novels.

Thanks!

Edited:  Commentary added by PelIt’s also just as illegal to translate the first chapter into a language other than English and repost it.  There is a certain foreign language blog that has not only translated the first chapter and preface, but they have taken someone’s fanfiction, translated that, and they are trying to pawn it off as chapter 2.

Twilight Friends Campaign

Laurent

Actor Edi Gathegi holds a very special place in the Lexicon’s heart.  He was the first to recognize our need for detailed Q&A’s and the very first to step into the Hollywood hotseat and face the questions surrounding his casting and his fit for the character of Laurent.  In short, he is a wonderful guy who loves the Twilight fans.

Last week I mentioned to you that his MySpace was in need of some much needed attention.  Edi, in fact, has the lowest number of "friends" of all the Twilight actors.  After having a lively conversation with him last week he mentioned that he would love to have 1000 friends on his MySpace by the end of summer.  To which I responded…"That’s it?  Just 1000?  We can do that!"  And out of that conversation was born…The Twilight Friends Campaign – The Summer of 1000 Friends (Banner by the ever talented Ambereyes)

So here is what we are asking.  Take the banner above, put it on your MySpace, put it on your blogs, put it in your signatures, put it on your own Twilight websites (though put it in your own photobucket account or you’ll wipe mine.  :D)  Link the banner to Edi’s MySpace like the one above is, and encourage everyone you know to friend our favorite villain!  And while your there be sure to subscribe to his blog.  He promises to update with his happenings more often now!

Twilight Lexicon Summer School

Over the last few weeks we have received several emails asking for interviews for school papers or from people sharing their Twilight school experiences.  We have seen teachers who have created websites for their students, students using Twilight for lit studies, and grad students studying Twilight as part of their PhD. As a teacher myself, I think it is amazing that teachers and students alike have found a way to incorporate Twilight into the classroom.  So if you are a teacher or a student send us your stories on how you have used Twilight in the classroom or for a report. Please send your stories to [email protected] no later than June 12th. We will be running a Twilight Summer School piece later in the summer.

As many of you know, Robert Pattinson premiered the movie How to Be at Slam Dance this year.  The film has received excellent reviews.  Unlike mainstream film releases, independant films require months and often times years of fan support before they are noticed by the mainstream media.  You can find out more information about this film by clicking on the icon or by visiting the How to Be facebook.     –Thanks to Gabby for the information.
