Eclipse Up For Award

It’s that time of year again. It’s Teen Reads Week and this year’s theme is Books With a Bite!
Now aside from fabulous events that are going on at your local library, there is also the yearly contest.

The Young Adult Library Services Association opens its voting to the their favorite book. The way the publishing cut-off works is that Eclipse qualifies, but Breaking Dawn doesn’t.  Now if memory serves both Twilight and New Moon won this award in the years that they were entered.

According to Cullen Girl who gave us the heads up:

Teens’ Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in fifteen school and public libraries around the country.

If you read nominated books throughout the year, you’ll be ready to vote for your favorites during Teen Read Week, October 12 – 18, 2008. Readers aged twelve to eighteen can vote right here, online, anytime that week.

Although the survey is targeted to teens, anyone can vote and vote several times. The voting ends October 18th!

And last speaking of Twilight Teez, they also just went through a site makeover. Check it out.

Reelz Channel Compares Bella and Sookie

In its ongoing Twilight coverage, Reelz Channel decided to do a bit of comparison, and for once it wasn’t to Harry Potter!

With a little help from the Lexicon’s own SomethingBlue, Bella and Sookie of the True Blood series are compared. SomethingBlue is a big fan of both series and had a chance to give her opinion over at Reelz Channel.

Movie NewsRumors

Boy was this the day that the rumors hit the fan…

First as a point of clarity because there seems to be some sort of rumor going around the Internet that the most popular Twilight sites were asked to take down the Twilight trailer. I can’t speak for other sites, but as far as the Lexicon goes that’s 100% untrue. We are now linking to it on MySpace because the widget with the trailer embedded in it was killing our servers, but that was our personal choice. We certainly were not asked to remove it. Quite the contrary, we were asked to please get it out there.

Next up on the rumor file. The site of the premiere has definitely been relocated. False. According to Summit. "The premiere theater location is in flux right now, but we will let you know when it’s confirmed." Soon as we know we’ll pass the info along.

Now for rumor number 3, the New Moon movie is 100% a go. Everyone is picking up the news story off a site that hasn’t said even said that. What they said is what we’ve all known for months, which is that the studio would like to do a sequel if this first movie is a success, and they’ve made preliminary plans in that regard.

Movie News

Mlive has a featurette with Michigan hometown boy Taylor Lautner. He talks about his current series with Christian Slater and Twilight. TY to Shea for the heads up.

The Movie Fanatic has part two of its comprehensive look at Twilight up.

Cinematical has a survey up about the trailer and music involved. Go over and voice your opinion.

MTV has info regarding the running time of the Twilight movie.

Also, are you looking for a midnight showing? It might take a little leg work, just like getting midnight release parties for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn did.  Here’s some advice from Kim based on her experience.

"I am writing to you concerning possible midnight showings of Twilight in the US. Originally, I took it for granted that Twilight, like Harry Potter and superhero films, would get a midnight release. The management at my local AMC Theaters, however, has barely heard of the movie or book, and are unaware of fan support for the film. I was told that it would make a difference if the theater heard from these fans expressing interest in the film, and specifically asking about a midnight premiere. The situation may be the same for other theater chains that normally do these special engagement showings. I have not been told that they won’t have one, just that they don’t know at this time. Rather than let this be an uncertainty, I figured I would inform the fans at as many sites as I could to encourage them to call their local theaters, and to ask in person if possible. If we can organize in small groups and wear our Twilight shirts, it might make more of an impression on the theater staff. This weekend especially it might make a difference since the Twilight trailer is in the theater. If you go see Quarantine or Sex Drive maybe you can stop by guest services in Twilight gear letting them know you want to see the TRAILER on the big screen because you can’t wait for the movie to be released.
