Ryan Seacrest: Breaking Dawn Info Leak
You want to look at around the 3:00 minute mark. No confirmation of the exact source, but Seacrest tends not to run things if he can’t provide a credible source.
Though there has been no official confirmation of Breaking Dawn, the fact that it appeared as a tab on the official Twilight Saga movie website back in July has always indicated to us (in our opinion, we have no confirmation) that the movie would be made. To us the only questions have been: when, where, and how many.
The Official Numbers Are In
Nikki Finke breaks down how the success isn’t just limited to the US:
“NEW MOON grossed $118.1 million from 6,681 prints in 25 markets in its first 5 days of release. That brought its worldwide gross to $258.8 million so far. A number of markets are still to report:”

“UPDATE 4:00 PM MONDAY:
ACTUALS ARE IN: The final domestic box office numbers for this past weekend show that The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $142.8M. This is the official tally which, including the actual number for Sunday, has been revised upward by $2.1M from the previously announced $140.7M. This also results in an increase in the per theater average from $34,965 to $35,497.
Here is the reason why this overall number is higher than the one reported by the industry yesterday. After the Saturday box office totals came in on Sunday morning, the studio estimated what Sunday would be and came up with a weekend projection. That is standard industry procedure. Of course, Sunday and weekend figures can only be estimated at that point. The actual Sunday numbers weren’t known until today (posted below). The actual numbers that come in on Monday are usually not too far off from the estimates made on Sunday. They usually adjust slightly up or down but are rarely far off. In this case, the number was underestimated, meaning that the percentage drop from Saturday to Sunday was smaller than anticipated and more people went to see New Moon than had been predicted. So the final number is revised upward by $2.1M. That may not sound like a lot, but think about this: of the top 90 films out this weekend, 83 made less than $2.1M.”

Rumor Control—-Not R
Despite what may or may not be quoted from an off-handed remark by one of the New Moon actors, Eclipse will not be rated R. It was a condition of the movies being made that they would NOT be rated more than a PG-13. Stephenie Meyer would not allow them to do an R version because she does not see R-movies. If for some reason it was rated R by the MPAA it would have to be re-cut to change that.
In fact, during our set visit and our conversation with producer Wyck Godfrey we were talking how if they made Breaking Dawn (which we are dying along with the rest of you for some sort of official word…but we digress…)how they would go about keeping scenes within PG-13 bounds. The romance scenes are easy enough to shoot that way since the book “fades to black”, as for the other scenes think about network shows like ER and how much they were able to show on primetime TV and still be real:
“Q: Have you discussed that, storyboarded it[Breaking Dawn]?
Wyck: No, well, since it exists as a book and it’s a part of the series, all of our minds individually think “How will we do that?”…
My wife is an OBGYN, so I know it can be done in a PG-13 way. I’ll bring her on as an expert. (Laughs) (Did you like it?) I loved it. I mean for me, it’s mature in a way that speaks, you know, to someone my age really. Gosh, I mean I have three kids, you totally understand the next level of Bella’s life is going to be the adult life.
What was so daring about Breaking Dawn, and so brilliant about it, she didn’t pander what she thought her audience was. She said, this is what’s right for Bella and Edward, and this is where their story needs to go. I really loved that about it.
Certainly there are things that are shocking that are like, I never thought it would go that way. That’s good! I mean, that’s what makes for good drama. So I love it. I don’t know how we are going to do it! (Laughs)”
