Singapore University – Nanyang Technological University Students Survey on Twilight & Twilight Fans

There’s no need to tell the regular readers of this blog that Twilight is a worldwide phenomena.  Well, now it’s  your chance to help some fellow Twilighters out.  Twilight Singapore (the blog that brought us all that FABULOUS footage from the Japan Twilight movie events in 2009) contacted us about university students in Singapore that need your help. Twilight Singapore  writes:

“NTU Students have contacted us for their final year assignment. They are doing a study of Twilight (Books & Movies) and its fans. They have prepared a survey for fans to complete anonymously wherever they are in the world.

The results of the survey will not be published in the media but the students have promised to share with us their findings and in turn we will share it with you guys! Here is the link to the Survey .

The university students write:

“Hello! We’re final year NTU students, and we’re conducting a study on Twilight and its fans. We really hope you can help by posting a link to it on the blog. We can also send you the results of our study when we’re done. It should be an interesting read. Below is the template I used when posting to a few other LJ comms and sites, you can just use it on your blog if you want to. Thank you so much for your help!

Ashley Greene: Skateland Clip

Ashley Greene co-stars in Skateland with Shiloh Fernandez ( who was actually one of the four finalists for the part of Edward Cullen, according to Catherine Hardwicke.) The film had it’s debut at Sundance. Although many are saying that the script is a bit predicable, the performers, themselves, are getting good reviews such as the one below from The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Sundance Film Festival this year is pitching itself as the place where filmmakers can renew the rebellion against the expected and proudly give birth to brave new ideas. So what’s “Skateland” doing in the Dramatic Competition? For an indie film, it’s very well made, even rather slick, in fact. But what a thoroughly conventional movie it is. “Skateland” is every coming-of-age-after-high-school movie you’ve ever seen with a formulaic plot and well-worn characters.

It probably got shortlisted because several scenes exhibit strong writing and the performances in the main roles are aces. So if nothing else, director Anthony Burns has a solid calling card to show the film industry.”

Robert Pattinson: A Lament on the Appeal of Pasty White Dudes

The The Zeitgeisty Report Blogger ruminates over just what is the appeal of  “pasty white dudes” he has some interesting analysis. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the one thing this we seriously disagree on is his assessment of Robert Pattinson’s talent, as it seems he is basing his opinion on Twilight alone.

“What is it about vampires that so capture the imagination of young girls?

Perhaps it has something to do with the onset of menses and the complexity of emotions that are part and parcel to the experience. Along with the blood comes an understanding of mortality as well as the ability to bear life – this all ties in with the gestalt of the vampire. He has the power to both give life and take it by penetrating virginal skin and sucking out the viscous crimson. Psychologically it all makes sense…

…or maybe they just like broody, pale white dudes like Robert Pattinson.”

Twilight Lexicon Interview: Chris Heyerdahl Part 2

Here is part 2 (It’s the final part. Originally we thought we’d do it in three, but we decided not to “milk it”. Here’s part 1 in case you missed it.) of our interview with Chris Heyerdahl who plays Marcus in New Moon.

There is a transcript below in case you have trouble hearing the audio. It was uncharacteristically damp and chilly weather in Miami and Chris was fighting a cold (note the down vest and the cup of tea) when we filmed this at the Creation Entertainment convention in Miami.

We want to thank Chris for being so gracious, especially under the circumstances, for taking the time to talk with us. Special thanks to Creation Entertainment for their assistance. Next week we will have a feature with Chaske Spencer.

L: Can you tell us a little bit about your own research investigation into the character and what you talked about with Stephenie – how she responded to you take on Marcus?

C: I read everything I could about what she had already said, everything that I could find quotes, because I had no idea she was going to be on set.

L: Oh really? You didn’t know?

C: When I was doing my research? I had no idea. It was when I arrived on set.

L: So that was like a little gift.

C: Yeah! HUGE gift!

L: Best resource possible.

C: Huge gift because you never know. You have to make assumptions. And sometimes – here’s the thing, when you read a book again, why does everyone have a different idea in their head? Because they’re reading it from a different perspective. So of course, my perspective could be just as warped as everyone else’s because it’s everything I’ve lived with and all my history is coming with that. So it was great to check in and say, “This is what I’m going to do. This is what I read. Is that what you wrote?” And some of the things she… “Well I… I didn’t…yeah! Absolutely!” It was one of those wonderful things to have her go, “I…yes! Yes that’s exactly… yes, he would have done that!” So it was really fun to play with her in that way, and so together we discovered things that she may or may not have already really thought about.
