Cam Gigandet Talks about Twilight

Cam was interviewed about his upcoming movie, Never Back Down, and he mentions Twilight as his next project.  It sounds like all the physical training he received for Never Break Down will come in handy in Twilight.

Don’t miss the other interviews of today (is it a big news day or what!)

Movie Pages

We have created some additional pages to cover movie basics.  You can find them on the side bar under the heading The Twilight Saga on Film.

We are still working on the content. It currently contains a listing of confirmed actors and major production staff with their IMBD links, if they have one.  We are looking to put links to and/or archive all actor interviews regarding the Twilight movie and future movies should they happen. This way the interviews are saved in one place and not scattered around the web in case a site closes.

The most recent items on those pages are links to the Justin Chon interview that we have today and the Pater Facinelli interview that Twilight Moms has today.

The Justin Chon Interview

The Twilight Lexicon would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the talented actor playing Eric Yorkie, Justin Chon!  Feel free to link back to the interview, but please do not copy and paste the interview on your website without permission from us first!  Thanks!

Lexicon – Your father is an actor. What made you want to become an actor?
Justin – I wanted to become an actor because it’s a job where you are constantly growing as a human being. I also love the creativity of the job.

Lexicon – What advice, if any, has your father given you about the acting business?
Justin – My father has always told me "Never get too comfortable because it can all be gone at any moment."   I feel as though this advice has caused me to constantly work hard.

Lexicon – What do you prefer film, TV, or stage?
Justin – I prefer film.

Lexicon – What is the biggest difference between filming a movie and filming for a TV series?
Justin – The biggest difference is that in a movie you have 2 hours for a character to develop while in TV you have 30 minutes. This really affects how you act.

Lexicon – What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you on a set or at an audition?
Justin – I totally forgot what I was doing many times in auditions and have felt completely stupid.

Lexicon – What’s the best thing that ever happened to you on a set or at an audition?
Justin – On the set of Just Jordan the whole cast wished me goodbye when I went to go shoot a movie. They made me a huge card. It was pretty sweet.

Lexicon – Have you had the chance to meet Stephenie Meyer or are there plans in the works for you to meet her?
Justin – I’ve never met Stephenie, but I would love to meet her.

Lexicon – You read the books before being cast so what is your favorite scene and character in the book?
Justin – I would have to say I really like Emmett. I loved how he wanted to kill James the whole time during the pursuit.

Lexicon – What is it that drew you to audition for this movie?
Justin – I really admire Catherine Hardwick, so when I found out she was directing this movie I told myself I had to be in it.

Lexicon Sarah Bareilles is currently playing on your MySpace, is she indicative of your music tastes, and what are some of your other favorite songs/groups right now?
Justin – Yes, I love her music. Recently I’ve really been into a lot of female artists. I just never really paid attention to them until this past year. I really love these two girls named "Meg and Dia," especially because the weather in California has been good.

Lexicon – You play musical instruments, do you also sing? Should we expect a musical career in the future?
Justin – Ha ha. Ummm. Yes I do sing and recently have been writing a lot of songs. I am in a band but it’s more of a creative outlet. I might be brave to play my music for people sometime soon.

Lexicon – Eric has been branded as the "geek" of Forks High.  What would you consider yourself to be (i.e. geek, brain, jock…)?
Justin – I would say I’m every label wrapped into one. I can be any of those at different moments of the day.

Lexicon – Who are you most excited about working with on the set of Twilight and why?
Justin – I’m actually really excited to work with everyone on set, because I haven’t worked with anybody on this particular cast before.

Lexicon – Have you ever worked with anyone in the Twilight cast before?
Justin – Ha ha.  Ummm…I didn’t even read the next question while answering the last one, but no- I haven’t worked with anyone.

Lexicon – From what you know about him, what do you think is Eric’s main characteristic?
Justin – I think he’s a very energetic, optimistic, overachieving guy who wants to fit in and be cool with everyone at school. A diplomat.

Lexicon – Do you in anyway relate to Eric?
Justin – Yes, I think that I do try to make people happy and it upsets me when people are having a tough time.

Lexicon – Do you think Bella should have chosen Eric (you) instead? Why?
Justin – Ha ha ha ha ha….Yes, of course Bella should have chosen Eric. I mean what is there to resist? He’s smart, charming and has a decent face structure. Bella definitely made a mistake.

Lexicon – Where are you drawing inspiration for your character?
Justin – I’d say from parts of my life.

Lexicon – What part of the movie are you most looking forward to filming?
Justin – I am really looking forward to all my scenes with my friends in the movie.

Lexicon – Is it scary knowing that the fans have really high expectations for the film?
Justin – Yes, it’s very scary.

Lexicon – Have you had any Twilight fan encounters yet?
Justin – Not yet, but I welcome the idea. Ha ha

Lexicon – What other projects are you working on?  Is there anything else already set on your horizon?
Justin – Yes, I’m set to do a really small indie movie after Twilight.  It’s a cultural piece so I’m really excited.

Lexicon – Have you visited any of the fan sites (like The Twilight Lexicon)?
Justin – Yes I have visited TwilightLexiconBlog.com.

Lexicon – How do you feel about the broad age range appeal of the film (i.e. 12 to 50 year old female fans)?
Justin – I love that about Twilight. I feel as though it does have universal messages so I’m really excited just like everyone else is to see the finished product.

Lexicon – Are you single?
Justin – Yes I am single. Ha ha.

Thank you to Justin and his publicist, Turk Entertainment for spending a few moments with us, and for allowing us to post the fantastic picture of Justin.  Justin will begin filming in a few weeks, we wish him the best in his role as Eric Yorkie and in all of his many other endeavors.

More From Berlin

Mabelle attended Stephenie’s German tour in Berlin and gave us the following (pictures will come later today).

Title: "Bella is like a delicious cheesecake"

As I arrived at the Kulturkaufhaus Dussmann, dozens of fans had been already waiting.
I underestimated the situation when I thought I’d have enough time to get a good seat one hour before the actual thing started.
Apparently, I should have come at least in the morning. Some fans had been waiting since 12:00… .And now they were waiting to get a glimpse of the creator of their favorite book.

Many of them were sitting on the floor as all the seats were already taken. The hall itself was way too small for this huge amount of people, so many of them were upstairs, looking at the stage on a screen. Fans were screaming and clapping as Stephenie Meyer finally appeared.

"This is really something…", Stephenie smiled when she saw all her fans. And then she said would stay as long as necessary to get everyone’s copies signed.

After a brief introduction, Stephenie started reading out a part of Eclipse, Rosalie’s part which is her favorite background story. The fans flipped their books open and started reading along.

But we were getting really excited, finally, it was time for the questions, after a German actress read out another part of the German translation "Bis(s) zum Abendrot". People started asking a lot of questions, most of them about Stephenie’s writing skills, but there were also a few really interesting ones.

Here is a small collection of the most interesting questions (there were a lot!) and Stephenie’s answers:

Will there be a sequel to The Host?
– "I’m already working on the sequel, it’s almost done."

Is Breaking Dawn really the last book in the Twilight Saga?
– "The 4th book will be last from Bella’s perspective. We’ll see, it’s all about the time. Midnight Sun needs to be done as well. I have so many ideas, but I want to write other stories, too."

At this point everyone became really excited about Breaking Dawn. And although Stephenie said at the beginning, she would not answer any questions concerning the 4th book, because she wanted everyone to be surprised, she smirked and allowed another question to be answered:

You took your inspiration from Wuthering Heights and Romeo & Juliet. What was your inspiration for Breaking Dawn?
"I basically had two classics. Breaking Dawn is not quite based on them, but they inspired me. I will tell you ONE (everyone started screaming at that point)… it is Midsummer Night’s Dream!

How do you feel about the film cast?
"A lot of fans say ‘Don’t let them ruin the movie’! But I think adaptations are good, too. Just look at Romeo & Juliet. There are so many ways to make a good movie.  And of course I want to see the movie as well! I plan on visiting the set soon again. I’m really happy about the cast. And I’m really happy about Rob playing Edward. He fits perfectly!"

And two more questions & answers which I thought were funny:

Jake or Edward?
"Well that is a problem… we have two perfect man here! So I guess a sharing plan needs to be worked out, you need to be flexible (laughs)"

Will Edward stop loving Bella if she was a vampire? (If-questions were actually not allowed, but this one seemed to concern so many fans, Stephenie just had to asnwer this one!) If it’s all about the smell he feels attracted to…
– "You have to look at it this way: To Edward, Bella is like a delicious cheesecake – and no one can resist a delicious cheesecake. It’s why he noticed her the first time. But he truly loves her the way she is. It’s not about the smell, because it’s like they are soulmates."

Afterwards everyone lined up for the book signing. And everyone had the chance to get their book signed, even those people who had been watching her upstairs.

In total I can say it was a really nice happening. Everyone was very cheerful and said how awesome Stephenie was.

I hope she will come to Berlin soon again! And next time, we will need a hall at least 4 times bigger than this one.

Thank you for coming!

Sam Uley Is Cast

The Daily Vanguard, the newspaper of Portland State University, has announced that Solomon Trimble, of their student body has been cast as Sam Uley.

EDITED: There is a slight error with MTV being credited as the studio making the film, but the rest of the info is correct.

Also please note: Summit has signed all the actors to a three film deal. It’s a standard sequel clause. It’s how they are guaranteed to get people back if the movie hits big and makes them stars.  The best recent example of this coming into play is the Pirates of the Caribbean series that resurrected Johnny Depp’s career, showed that Orlando Bloom could be more than an elf, and made Kiera Knightly a household name beyond teen flicks like Bend It Like Beckham.  If they didn’t have that sequel clause in play, they never would have gotten those actors back.

It should be noted that Summit can’t proceed to make any sequels, regardless of what they have signed people up for,  until Stephenie gives them the right to do so. On her recent German tour Stephenie clearly stated that she has not yet granted filming rights for anything other than Twilight, and is thinking about it, but has not yet given her OK.

Robert Pattinson’s popularity on the rise

The Movie Fanatic site that was featured in yesterday’s news also conducted a recent survey. They wanted to know which rising actor/actress they should interview next.

Robert Pattinson won by a landslide!

Twilight Gets Listed as a hot movie pick, and wins Illinois award.

The Twilight movie was touted by The Movie Fanatic site as a vampire tale in print and on film not to be missed.  Thanks to Laura on the info on this one.

About a week ago we mentioned how Twilight was up for the Abe Lincoln Book Award in Illinois. Well, the results are in and, Twilight is the Abraham Lincoln Award winner with 640 votes! Thanks to all of those who voted and congrats to Stephenie! Also a big TY to Cullengirl for tracking this data and getting out the vote.

And now, courtesy of the fabulous TwilightObsessed, we give you the updated photo array. We have nothing 100% from the studio, or the management companies that represent Taylor Lautner or Gregory Tyree Boyce. As soon as we have it 100% confirmed from a direct source (yes, I love people’s neighbors, but I need an official outlet) we’ll post who they are portraying.

Stephenie’s German Tour

Below are some links we posted the other day to Stephenie reading on her German book signing tour. We will have some more detailed info up later this week, but for now we want to quash a rumor before it gets out of hand.  There is really an art to translation. It’s tough in normal circumstance, so I can only imagine how under pressure a translator felt next to Stephenie translating to 1,000’s of people. However a fairly big "oops" was made, and we want the record to be set straight. Thanks to Tuuli for pointing this out!

Stephenie was asked the following in Berlin:

Question from a German fan: About Twilight movie, and if there will also be movies based on other 3 books.

Stephenie’s original answer: They (I guess the movie company) are interested of making all four, but I haven’t given my final answer yet – so, it is not sure if there will be 4 movies or not.

Incorrect translation from the German translator: Yes, there will be 4 movies.

So, there you have it folks. Again, as of right now. The only movie Stephenie  has signed her rights over to is Twilight. Rights to any other book have not been given.

Now for YouTube as recored by HaileyAmanda

Stephenie reading part of Eclipse the section where Jasper is turned and then later when he met Alice.

Stephenie begins the Q&A talking about when and how she writes and how music fits in with her writing.

Stephenie during the Q&A talking about who Bella would be surprised was on the list of those who found her attractive.

Stephenie continues the Q&A talking about vampire heights.

Stephenie talks about how long it takes her to write and that she won’t divulge anything about book 4, and she states her favorite quote. She talks about having other vampire stories to tell after book 4, but they probably won’t happen for awhile.

Stephenie talking about liking her characters.

Stephenie confirms that venom can’t turn animals what type of guy was Stephenie attracted to and loving more than one person.

Stephenie talks mentions us (squee…)  and then talks about her dream that started Twilight.

Stephenie talks about how much she likes the actors and in particular Robert Pattinson.

2+2=Laurent

If you read between the lines on this article, there is more evidence for Edi Gathegi being Laurent, despite it not being officially announced by Summit.

In general, now that Charlie, Renee, and Laurant are all but confirmed by the studio. (They have been confirmed by the actors themselves, their agents and/or secondary new outlets) that only really leaves a couple of people left, and given what their photos look like…

The remaining members of the Twilight cast are about the worst kept secret in the entertainment industry, right up there with "Is Angelina Jolie pregnant?"

Rising like the Phoenix

I feel like we need a new logo with Edward and Bella riding in like the calvary on the back of a giant bird. Anyway we are back up.

Our new server came online at 10:56 pm est least night. 24601 got right to work, and despite a really frustrating power outage at around 11:00pm when he had to start all over again, we seem to be back up. He was at it until about 2:00am. Hopefully, knock on wood, we are fairly intact with the below exception.

The one item that does need to settle is what’s called DNS. In it’s simplest terms, for you non-technical folks, DNS is a series of numbers assigned to the server your website sits on that identifies it to the world. It takes the world awhile to catch up to your new DNS when you move. Think of it like the post office catching up to you with forwarded letters. In both cases sometimes it works great, other times the forwarded letter takes extra time getting to you.  So, in as much as the Lexicon has been on no less than 6 servers in the last 30 days, let’s just say that the post office is working overtime. They will eventually all figure out the "change of address" but it may take a couple of days.  What this means is that although you see the site now, someone who uses a different cable provider may not or vice versa. Also you may see it now, but not see it three hours from now. It just needs a good 3-5 days to really settle in. Don’t worry, although annoying, this is normal.

Feel free to used the blog and forum as you always did. If you find a glitch (there’s bound to be a glitch some place) report it in accident prone if it is a forum glitch, or on this thread if it is a blog glitch.  Eventually we will debug everything, but it might take a bit.

Now for some twilight movie news.
