Quick “thank you” from the road
Current Mood: Giddy

Hey guys! I’m in Kansas City, MO tonight, looking forward to my event tomorrow. I wanted to thank everybody who was in Minneapolis last night. It was such a great event! Everyone was so cool and sweet. It went super smooth, and a lot of that is due to you guys for being respectful of the people putting on the event and each other. I know how incredible my fans are, but I am still blown away by you all! Thanks for being the best fans in the world. I’m so excited to see more of you this month.

Oh, and thanks also for all the great feedback on The Host in my comments. It’s always so nerve-racking to release something new, and I really appreciate the encouragement!

Love you!

Steph

And finally Seth wants to make sure you review the Calender before heading off to the signing nearest you!

Trailer confusion

Verified through Summit to clear up confusion once again regarding the trailers for the movie.  The ONLY trailer that Summit has produced as of this moment is the trailer that you can see on Myspace.  This trailer was give to MySpace as an exclusive and is therefore not seen elsewhere until Friday.  On Friday the SAME teaser trailer that you have already seen will be placed on the official Twilight movie site as well as other sites all over the web.  This also includes movie theaters!  The Twilight trailer is NOT exclusive to Speed Racer.  If you go see speed Racer this weekend you may or may not see the teaser trailer on your movie screen.  The trailer may in fact pop up on other film previews here and there.  You may even see it pop up on your TV screen this summer.

The only, and I repeat ONLY new promo exclusive you will see until later this summer will be on the extra features section of the Penelope DVD.  Which will include exclusive Twilight movie footage!

Any rumors that there is another trailer ready to premier anywhere are false.  This is it for awhile folks.  It was a wonderful trailer, but it’s a long time between now and December you’re going to have to be patient.  In the meantime there will always be Twilight Tuesdays and the movie exclusives we have for you here.

The majority of the confusion lies of these words found on the Official movie page "Sneak Peek".  A sneak peak in movie lingo is a showing of a film or trailer before its national release date.  As in "I saw a sneak peek of Indiana Jones last week". It is not abbreviated material.  It is usually given out early to a specific audience  (in this case the die hard fans) so that the marketing team can get an idea of how the production will be received by a national audiences.  Summit gaged your reactions to make sure they had delivered a good product before it will air nationally.

Glenn Beck, NPR and the Host

Enter to win a copy of the Host at Edge Boston!

Don’t forget to watch Stephenie on Glenn Beck this evening on CNN!  Check your local listings for air times.  On the East coast the Glenn Beck show airs at 7pm and then again at 9pm on CNN.  There are few hosts that are as candid, straight talking, funny, and heart warming as Glenn Beck.  Not only does he share an affinity to Ms. Meyer in religion, but he is the father of teenage daughters.  This should be a wonderful interview.

Edit: Keep political commentary off this site.  This is a Twilight website, not a site for political debate.  Commentary regarding Mr. Beck, and his political leanings, on this post will be moderated and potentially banned. Unless Bella and Edward suddenly join the Young Republicans or the Young Democrats, (or any other party for that matter) this has always been and will always be our policy.

There is a tenative schedule to air an interview the radio show "All things Considered" conducted with Stephenie on NPR friday May 9th between 4 and 6 pm.  Thanks to the Forks a Twilight Podcast for the heads up.

Reelz Transcripts and the Leaky Cauldron

Reelz releases the transcripts from interviews conducted while on set.  You will find many of your favorites there!

The Leaky Cauldron posts a Robert Pattinson news round up.  We are happy to share the excitment of having this great actor in both fandoms.

News News and interviews

Oh good gravy now I can’t stop rhyming!

The Lovely Maggie sent us an interesting tidbit about Kristen’s double Katie featured in the video below!

"As a side note, I just saw your video on doubles, and it might be interesting to note that Katie Powers, Kristen’s double, actually ended up getting a part on film. Catherine liked her so much that you will see her as the flirting waitress in the restaurant scene 🙂

Wait ’til you see her hairdo…."

Justin Chon was interviewed not once, but twice today!  See his new interviews with Twilight Starszz and Twilight Portugal on our Actor Interviews Page.

Remember that MTV video response we told you about?  Well the results of that request are being aired all over the MTV network!  See who made the cut.  Go show MTV some love!

Stephenie had a lovely interview with the Centre Daily Newspaper.

And last but not least, teens all over the world are gearing up for parties to celebrate the release of the final chapter in Bella’s story.  Read how one town is Vamping up the celebration!

Edit: When you post a comment on the front page, please post an actual comment and not "first" or "second" or any other numeral that would mark your place.

Twilight movie Doubles

While on set we had the opportunity to meet many people.  It takes a great deal of talent to make a movie possible.  From the doubles/stand-ins, to the sound, to the lighting, to the props and transportation.  Every person on set is vital to the filming process.  Here are a few Twilight movie doubles we met on our journey.  Without them, shooting this film would have been very difficult.  We present our salute to the Twilight Movie Double…

See the video here.

The person behind Katie in the opening interview is actually physically holding the tent down.

"What does a double do exactly?"  I am glad you asked.  A double stands in place of an actor during lighting and scene staging.  They do not do stunts.  Thats what stunt doubles are for.  Doubles are often used in scenes where the actors face is never seen.  For instance in wide shots.  Doubles allow film makers the freedom to experiment with scenes without having to use the "talent" for non speaking, non acting situations.  Particularly with underage actors doubles become EXTREMELY important because the actor can only spend so much time on set.  So they have to use them judiciously.  And in the case of Twilight, the underage actors on set are great in number, which included Kristen up until a month ago.

I hope this answers your question!  *goes to rock out to Eminem some more*

scullingonsquam final shooting day

Scullingonsquam has updated her blog to tell you all about her exciting final day on set.  But before we give you that link.  We would like to salute our fair friend Maggie!

Ode to Maggie’s Socks

The waves, they crashed upon the shore
Taunting us vampire lore
In every direction we dared to looked
The water gushed from cranny and nook

We thought the day would be a joy
But clearing skies were just a decoy
The wind soon picked up the tents
Away with Dorothy we almost went

Up to camp the Director cried
Before the rushing of the tide
Alas the cries were barely heard
For shoes and boots soon were submerged

Up to our knees the water came
Rushing and flowing in true La Push fame
But what of our feet now richly soaked?
And our aching cold bones that now croaked?

Here lies the story of title proclaimed
For Maggie, the prepared, soon exclaimed
I have spare socks for your soaking feet
For she, like Mike, had packed complete

Into her Poppin’s bag she dug
In search things to make us snug
Out came fresh socks and jacket too
Then BeMyEscape smiled and knew

To Maggie’s socks gratitude would flow
She even gave them the name Cleo
They warmed her feet while others froze
She watched their goose bumps as they arose

By the end of the day the socks met their fate
For nothing can best the Portland climate
Not even heroic socks like these
That gave their life for an admin’s ease

So stand this day in solemn salute
To a girl and her socks who stood resolute
To help this fandom on its mission
And helped us survive the severe conditions

The End.

And now we give you…Scullingonsquam for your reading pleasure!

See Maggie highlighted on her University’s website here!

Stephenie Signing at Mall of America Draws Huge Crowd

Kylara, one of the Lexicon’s oldest members, was at the Mall of America The Host signing last night. This is her report:

I arrived at the Mall of America at about 1:30PM. They had started selling books at 8AM, and I was told that a handful of people had arrived even earlier than that–as early as 5AM. This is what the line looked like when I first got there:

I bought my copies of The Host. At the start of the line there was a box for submitting questions for Stephenie, which a man walked through the line later on with in case anyone came up with questions as they read The Host.

I sat down to read while I waited for 6PM to come. A note for anyone else who goes so early to wait in line: if possible, bring chairs like the smart people in the photograph! Standing for 4.5 hours or sitting on the floor for that long is not fun!

A glimpse of the room that was slowly but surely filling up with people.

By 3:30PM, that empty half of the room was full of people, and we were asked to get up and squish together to make room for more people. We did so and then all sat back down to wait. Once or twice the Community Relations Manager at the Barnes & Noble at the Mall of America came out to talk to us:

About 15 minutes before Stephenie was due to arrive, he came back out to introduce her. She arrived, and much screaming followed. She told us that she had a presentation planned out, and was going to do a reading, but after finding out that we all would be standing for the entire evening decided against that. Instead, she answered probably 10 or so of the questions from the box.

I caught a few of the questions (and Stephenie’s answers!) on camera:
– What inspired The Host?
(video)
– What music was fitting for The Host?
– Why are there blank pages in The Host?
– Will there be sequels for The Host?
(video of the previous 3 questions)
– Do you ever take your kids on tour with you?
(video)
– What characters in The Host did you really enjoy writing?
(video)

Two of the questions were cut off, so here are paraphrased answers:

What inspired The Host?
This answer can be found in a number of articles and I wanted to save space for other questions! One place to find it is at the official The Host website, on the Q&A page.

Will there be sequels for The Host?
Stephenie said that she has outlines for one sequel, and plans for two to make it a trilogy, but doesn’t know if she’ll write them anytime soon. She mentioned that one reason in particular is that she’s grown fond of the characters, and in order for the sequels to be written, characters would need to die and she doesn’t want them to.

Another fun thing I’ll point out since it’s sort of hard to hear in the videos is the 3 songs that Stephenie mentioned are on her The Host playlist:
– Futurism by Muse
– Original of the Species by U2
– My Name is Love by Rob Dickinson

The rest of the playlist will be available on her website once she finishes this leg of the tour and e-mails it to her brother/webmaster.

After the Q&A came the actual book signing, which went very smooth.

I had my books signed by 7:30-8PM or so, and this is what the line looked like after I was finished:

This wasn’t even the entire line–it still stretched out down one of the hallways!

I came back for one last peek about quarter to 9 to see how many people were left, and that large central area was still about half full! It was a long night for the workers, fans, and Stephenie!

ETA: Here are few more videos of the Q&A from the book signing, thanks to Ali:
Did you know you wanted to be an author when you were a child?
How involved with the Twilight movie were you?
Write for Yourself

Thank you to Kylara for an awesome write-up!

Robert’s Laugh

Seventeen magazine couldn’t capture a shout out to the fans, but I think you will find what they did capture to be much much better!

A word on the negativity that has been running rampant on some of these smaller movie news sites.  There will be a growth of this kind of negativity from here on out.  As the movie gains momentum there are those who will use it as a platform to incite you to anger.  We encourage you to steer clear of people who wish to only cause you hurt.

We know you love these books.
We know your passion.
We understand.
