The 100 Monkeys on Tour Summer 2010

The 100 Monkeys is getting set to release new material this summer and is hitting the West Coast of the US and Canada to on tour. According to the band’s press release the band has a live CD coming out:

The first disc of a two-disc live CD titled “Live and Kickin’ Part 1.”  The songs on the CD were recorded during the first-half of the band’s fan-picked 100 city tour.  The band also announced the next leg of their 2010 tour which will take them through the far-western States and into BC, Canada, and back.  “Live and Kickin’ Part 1” will be available July 19th, 2010, on all major download sources.  Physical albums will be available on July 21st, 2010, at select record stores and on the band’s website at the Official 100 Monkeys Merchandise page.

The newly announced summer tour, which kicks off on July 20th, 2010, and runs through to August 6th, 2010, includes (in order) stops in:  Hermosa Beach, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC, Canada; Fresno, CA; Reno, NV; Sacramento, CA; and wraps up again in Los Angeles, CA.

100 Monkeys is comprised of Ben Graupner, Lawrence Abrams, Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and Jackson Rathbone (who appears in such movies as The Last Airbender, and the Twilight Saga).

The music of 100 Monkeys is impossible to pigeonhole.  Their honest and catchy lyrics combined with the fusion of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and even borderline Country, creates a truly eclectic sound; one which the band has coined “onomatopoetic, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll call it funky rock-n-roll.”

Just as unique as the band’s sound, are their live performances, which feature their now patented “Monkey Switcheroo,” in which band members exchange instruments, often during a song.  Additionally, fans attending live shows look forward to the nightly “Improv Song,” where the band takes title suggestions from the audience and turns it into a lyrical masterpiece.

Recently 100 Monkeys was featured in Rolling Stone as one of “Bamboozle 2010’s Five Breakout Bands to Watch.”

Check out 100 Monkeys at their Official website.

Check out the band below performing live at the Martini Ranch. Life on the road means improvising with duct tape when necessary. The music kicks in around the 2:45 mark.

Here’s the band live as New Jersey’s Bamboozle festival one of the best indie band festivals in the country. It’s the East Coast’s answer to Cochella.

It doesn’t matter what continent you are on, a Twihard is a Twihard! Although the accent does make the Brits sound a bit more posh.

David Slade Thanks Eclipse Fans on Facebook

David Slade wrote the following letter to Eclipse fans on the official Twilight Saga movie facebook which just reached the 8 million fan mark over the weekend making it one of the largest Facebook online communities.

“When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.

When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.

At the end of the day, after all the hard work is done, all that’s left is the film itself, and your overwhelmingly positive and supportive responses have made me feel like we must have done something right. As a filmmaker, this is a rare and strange feeling of connection with an audience of which I will never forget and I thank you all for it.

Nikki Reed on Regis and Kelly

Sadly the Regis and Kelly Show is terrible at updating their video archive, shocking since the Jimmy Kimmel and Good Morning America show also owned by ABC have great video sections. So it’s YouTube. The sound is a little dodgy, but you get the idea.

Details Magazine Profiles Jack Huston

jackHustondetails

Jack Huston talks to Details magazine about playing what is one of the very few completely unsympathetic characters in the Twilight Saga.

“With a breakout role in Martin Scorsese’s new project, the 27-year-old Brit proves he’s got more than Hollywood good looks and a famous last name (as in Grandpa John and Aunt Anjelica)—he also has a legitimate knack for the family business.

Details: In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, you play the former fiancé of Edward’s sister, Rosalie. How did you land the part?
Jack Huston: I auditioned for another part—a newborn vampire—and kind of shocked the producers. I acted like a junkie. I hadn’t slept the night before and had drunk lots of coffee. Everyone was like, “Um, a little too edgy.” But they liked me enough to offer me this part instead.”

USA Today: Xavier Samuel Rising Star

XavierRilyTrailerUSA Today is touting Xavier Samuel as an actor to watch. The article also featured the close off-screen relationship Xavier developed with fellow newbie Bryce Dallas Howard.

“Fellow Eclipse newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard, 29, (who takes over the role of Victoria from Rachelle LeFevre) seduces young Riley in the film.

In real life, Samuel calls the two especially good friends. “She’s so professional and she works harder than anyone I’ve ever met in my life,” he says of Howard, who even offered the temporarily homeless actor her couch in L.A. once filming wrapped.

Samuel spent two weeks hanging out with Howard’s young family, “really wonderful people,” he says of her husband, Seth Gabel, and their young son, Theo. Although he’s now renting in West Hollywood, he recently attended Theo’s third birthday party and noshed on barbecue with Bryce’s rather famous father, director Ron Howard.

Did he schmooze his way into a film? “I don’t know if I’d be so lucky,” he quips. “I haven’t really broached the subject with Ron yet.”
