Borders Announces Its Midnight Release Theme

Borders has just unveiled their theme for their midnight release parties. After months of listening to and taking suggestions from you the fans, this is what they have come up with according to their press release:

More than 900 Borders and Waldenbooks stores across the country will celebrate the highly anticipated release of “Breaking Dawn,”…with exciting in-store book release parties beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 and culminating at midnight when the book officially goes on sale. The Borders and Waldenbooks parties, themed “From Twilight til Dawn: A Night with a Bite,” will include costume contests, trivia contests and lively debates on themes from the book series.

To locate a participating Borders or Waldenbooks store, visit www.Borders.com.  (note items are still being added to this site)

All Borders and Waldenbooks customers are encouraged to attend the free parties dressed as characters from the book series to participate in the “Supernatural Soiree” costume contest. The fun begins at 10 p.m. with the “So You’re in Love with a Vampire?” trivia contest using questions supplied from… www.TwilightLexicon.com,… Customers will also have the opportunity to decide who the character Bella will choose for her true love – Jacob or Edward – during the “Love Is Perfectly Paranormal” debate. Throughout the “From Twilight til Dawn” parties, there will be prizes for contest winners, including special souvenirs and a chance to be first in line at midnight to purchase the book.

Twilight Tuesday: Twilight Meets The Martians

Well, not exactly the Martians, but who knows? The Twilight Universe is literally hitting the universe.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, there’s also a story on Bella’s truck.

Express your Twilight love!

Remember that the Twilight Hand Campaign is still going strong. Redlotusflower over at Deviant Art initially came up with the idea. The Lexicon is collecting the images of participants to put together in a video montage.  Remember to contact the hand campaign site first, and then send us your images as well at [email protected]

in the news

Tickets for Stephenie’s Breaking Dawn Tour currently are still available in Seattle. As of 5:00 eastern time the types of seats available according to the ticketmaster site are as follows:

3TIERC
THIRD TIER SEATING
CENTER SEATING
*** VERY STEEP INCLINE***

Tickets are sold out in New York, Chicago, and Los Angles.  As a long time ticket buyer, I make the following suggestion, check the ticketmaster site daily. At times sites release seats that they had held aside for various reasons (construction makes more seats available, the VIPs don;t need as many seats as they thought, stage configuration not as large so more seating room, etc). Last night, people were able to get tickets to the LA event by doing just that.  The worst that can happen is that you are no worse off than you are now, so if you need tickets check, you never know.

Gil Birmingham, who plays Billy Black in the Twilight movie, updated his blog with some candid, behind-the-scenes photos from the Twilight movie. Thanks to Twilight Obsessed for the heads up.

Popstar online will be featuring Twilight in their upcoming issue. Thanks to Jen for the heads up.

And lastly, the Normal Mormon Husband has pointed our attention to a previous entry about Twilight.

Happy Birthday Alphie

Happy birthday to the founder of the Lexicon!  Without Alphie getting obsessed with Twilight back in the winter of 2006, our favorite website wouldn’t be here. Here’s to wishing Alphie a great day!

The Great Debate

Last week we debuted the Debate Forum and many of you participated in great discussions on Are Vampires Dead?   This week we bring you a whole new question topic suggested by mogo1216 about Love and the Mythical Creature

The Twilight series shows us very young people making very grave decisions on the strength of the love they feel for each other. Are we meant to think that they are old enough to judge their feelings accurately? If Bella thinks she’s too young to get married, is she old enough to be certain she loves Edward enough to give up her humanity for him? Can Jake really know he loves Bella, when he is only 16?

Of course these are all fictional characters from a world of monsters and magic, which raises a further question. Even if you think that Bella and Jake know what they are doing, do you think this is realistic for real life teenagers?

A huge THANK YOU to DECEMBER for being an amazing moderator in the forum and keeping the discussion moving!!  Hope you all enjoy the new topic and remember you can submit topics to lexicondebate@gmail.com

Ticket Trade Thread

NO IDEA HOW LONG THEY WILL LAST BUT AS OF 11:13PM EASTERN TIME THERE ARE BALCONY SEATS JUST RELEASED IN SEATTLE AND LOS ANGELES. GOOD LUCK GUYS! HOPE SOMEONE WHO NEEDS THEM GETS THEM!

Thanks to Dusty for the quick spotting.

Well, realizing that people may have extra tickets and people may need tickets, it seemed like a good idea to set up this thread. We did this last year and it worked out at EProm.

If you need tickets, and I’m sure a lot of people do need tickets, please don’t post a request here because honestly the thread will just get really cluttered and no one will be able to find anything. So keep a lookout on the thread we just linked and see if someone is offering something you need.

For legal reasons, I have to state that the Lexicon assumes no responisbility for these deals. We are not endorsing anyone posting a ticket. This is a strictly at your own risk venture.  We do need to ask that you refrain from posting any personal information and save your contact details for PMs once someone is interested in your tickets.  Any personal information found in the thread will be deleted.  And please, no scalping!  We all know the tickets were $20 plus a handling fee.  The Lexicon can not support anyone wanting to sell their tickets for $100 to make some money.

As far as we can tell, the NYC and LA events sold out within 45 minutes of being offered to the general public. Seattle lasted for a couple of hours. And frankly, we’re not exactly sure what the heck happened in Chicago. Near as we can figure the website to the Harris Theater went down moments before the sale time, and their phone lines were then clogged with frantic buyers. Occasionally people got through via phone and Internet, but we can’t determine when it sold out or even if it did with 100% certainty (although we expect it did). We now have reliable confirmation. Chicago is sold out.

Christian Serratos Interview

Christian Serratos, who plays Angela in the Twilight movie, recently gave us an interview.  Christian’s natural, Angela-like personality comes out through her interview and in this recent video.  The photo is a brand new shot (please contact Christian’s management before taking) from celebrity photographers Smallz and Raskind.
