Chaske Spencer Conducts Blood Drive in Montana Home Town

ChaskebillingsAccording to the Billings Gazette:

“The hottest date in town Tuesday was a movie with a werewolf.

Not just any werewolf, but a member of the wolf pack that saves the vampire clan’s necks in the latest installment of the “Twilight’’ series, “Eclipse.”

Chaske Spencer, who plays Sam Uley, the leader of the werewolf pack in the series, has been surprising Billings movie fans since the film opened at midnight June 29. Spencer, who is a member of the Lakota Sioux tribe and grew up in Poplar, pitched in to help United Blood Services pull off a promotion to bring in new donors and keep their blood bank full at a challenging time of year.

Last week, Spencer slipped into Billings for a midnight show of the new film.

“I had just flown in from Australia and I was mixed up on my days. I thought, I’ll go see a movie, so I went to ‘A-Team’ and then when I found out ‘Eclipse’ was showing at midnight, I stayed.’’

Catch Xavier Samuel in Newcastle Online For Free

No, it’s not a scam or a pirated download looking to fry your computer with an attached virus. It’s a legitimate offer from LogoTV to watch Newcastle online. (see the trailer in the video below).

Newcastle is an indie movie Xavier Samuel made back in 2008. According to the IMDB description. “‘Newcastle’ is a coming-of-age/family drama/surfing movie. 17-year old Jesse lives in the shadow of his older brother Victor’s failure to become surfing’s Next Big Thing. Even when he’s in his natural habitat of magnificent surf breaks, his blue-collar future is brought home by the coal barges that constantly line his horizon. Jesse has the natural skills to surf his way out of this reality and onto the international circuit but can he overcome his equally natural ability to sabotage himself? A momentous weekend away with his mates that includes first love and tragedy leads him to discover what’s really important, and also to the performance of a lifetime.”

Please note that the movie was not rated by the MPAA that we could find, but judging by the Australian and Japanese ratings it is highly likely it would have been rated R for nudity and mature subject matter.

The 100 Monkeys on Tour Summer 2010

The 100 Monkeys is getting set to release new material this summer and is hitting the West Coast of the US and Canada to on tour. According to the band’s press release the band has a live CD coming out:

The first disc of a two-disc live CD titled “Live and Kickin’ Part 1.”  The songs on the CD were recorded during the first-half of the band’s fan-picked 100 city tour.  The band also announced the next leg of their 2010 tour which will take them through the far-western States and into BC, Canada, and back.  “Live and Kickin’ Part 1” will be available July 19th, 2010, on all major download sources.  Physical albums will be available on July 21st, 2010, at select record stores and on the band’s website at the Official 100 Monkeys Merchandise page.

The newly announced summer tour, which kicks off on July 20th, 2010, and runs through to August 6th, 2010, includes (in order) stops in:  Hermosa Beach, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC, Canada; Fresno, CA; Reno, NV; Sacramento, CA; and wraps up again in Los Angeles, CA.

100 Monkeys is comprised of Ben Graupner, Lawrence Abrams, Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and Jackson Rathbone (who appears in such movies as The Last Airbender, and the Twilight Saga).

The music of 100 Monkeys is impossible to pigeonhole.  Their honest and catchy lyrics combined with the fusion of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and even borderline Country, creates a truly eclectic sound; one which the band has coined “onomatopoetic, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll call it funky rock-n-roll.”

Just as unique as the band’s sound, are their live performances, which feature their now patented “Monkey Switcheroo,” in which band members exchange instruments, often during a song.  Additionally, fans attending live shows look forward to the nightly “Improv Song,” where the band takes title suggestions from the audience and turns it into a lyrical masterpiece.

Recently 100 Monkeys was featured in Rolling Stone as one of “Bamboozle 2010’s Five Breakout Bands to Watch.”

Check out 100 Monkeys at their Official website.

Check out the band below performing live at the Martini Ranch. Life on the road means improvising with duct tape when necessary. The music kicks in around the 2:45 mark.

Here’s the band live as New Jersey’s Bamboozle festival one of the best indie band festivals in the country. It’s the East Coast’s answer to Cochella.

David Slade Thanks Eclipse Fans on Facebook

David Slade wrote the following letter to Eclipse fans on the official Twilight Saga movie facebook which just reached the 8 million fan mark over the weekend making it one of the largest Facebook online communities.

“When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.

When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.

At the end of the day, after all the hard work is done, all that’s left is the film itself, and your overwhelmingly positive and supportive responses have made me feel like we must have done something right. As a filmmaker, this is a rare and strange feeling of connection with an audience of which I will never forget and I thank you all for it.

Nikki Reed on Regis and Kelly

Sadly the Regis and Kelly Show is terrible at updating their video archive, shocking since the Jimmy Kimmel and Good Morning America show also owned by ABC have great video sections. So it’s YouTube. The sound is a little dodgy, but you get the idea.
