Hollywood Reporter Interviews Melissa Rosenberg

melissarosenbergredcThe Hollywood Reporter has one of the best interviews with Melissa Rosenberg that I’ve seen recently.  She talks about her relationship with Stephenie Meyer, her thoughts on Team Jacob and Team Edward, and how they are making Breaking Dawn into two films.  There is a lot of content in this interview and it should be noted that there is a bit of rough language and mature conversation about the intimacy between Bella and Edward.  So please be warned that this is not language you would ever see in the books or hear in the movie.  But overall, a wonderful interview!

What’s the last question that you asked [Stephenie]?
Rosenberg: It would have been about the Volturi.

I love that you know that right away: “I know it was about the Volturi …”
Rosenberg: (laughs) I think it may have been something to do with, in her mind, in “Breaking Dawn,” what were the Volturi up to? We don’t see them until the end. And in her mind, what was driving them? She’s lived with these characters a lot longer than I have. She has a very intricate mythology and very detailed backstories for all these guys. At one point, I had so much in there about their backstories — it’s very interesting what she’s come up with and what I could expand on.

Oh, so you can actually work from stuff that’s not in the books.
Rosenberg: Oh, yeah. And that’s hopefully something that’s going to be fun for the fans. I was able to bring a lot of my own invention. Because the book is not quite two movies. There’s air, there’s room. With the other three it’s been a lot of condensing. And with “Breaking Dawn,” if you’re doing two, there’s a little air. It opens it up. But I need to stay true to the mythology. I mean, I can’t have it turn out that the head Volturi actually wanted to be a tap dancer and did vaudeville for a while.

The Cullen Family Talks to Parade

Parade magazine has a comical look at some of the thoughts and encounters the actors playing the Cullen family face.  Peter Facinelli had this to say about Edward dating and falling in love with Bella, who smells so very good to him.

“Edward shouldn’t really play with his food though. Romancing Bella is like falling in love with your mashed potatoes. Our family is living on a really strict bloodless diet, and when you’re on a diet you get cranky sometimes. I’ve always said, ‘Why don’t the Cullens have a petting farm, like a little zoo in the backyard, so if we want like a snack, we just go and grab a squirrel. It would be like having a candy bar or something.”

Personally, I don’t know if mashed potatoes really cuts it, Peter. I’m more in line with Stephenie Meyer who once compared the relationship to her falling in love with her cheesecake!  But we still get the picture.

The Cullens on Access Hollywood

Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone sat down with access Hollywood to talk about action sequences and those cardboard “cows.”

Kristen Stewart on Bella/Jacob “Moment” in Eclipse

Eclipse trailer Jacob abd BellaIf you’ve read Eclipse, then you know that Bella kisses Jacob just before the battle in Eclipse.  It’s something that Jacob fans have always used in support of their argument and proven to be one of the biggest talking points of the series.  Kristen Stewart talked to MTV about it as well.

“Bella gets to a point where the only way to save him is to kiss him, and what surprises her is she’s not only able to do it…”

She continued: “She can clearly see that he offers a really desirable path that [wasn’t there] before, because she was so obsessed with Edward. She just had to like nothing else. She had no perspective, and so it’s a moment.”

Melissa Rosenberg Updates Facebook Page

melissa-rosenbergheadshotIn an interview with MTV, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg hinted that the birth scene in Breaking Dawn may take place off screen and that she would leave it to director Bill Condon to decide.  Yet it seems many fans took her comments to mean that we wouldn’t get a birth scene at all or any “feathers.”  Here’s how Rosenberg responded to the worries.

“Hi y’all! Not sure where some of you got the impression I intended to leave birth scene out of Breaking Dawn, but it’s inaccurate. Of course the birth scene will be in there! And the sex scenes! And the feathers! And the blood! Perhaps you misinterpreted what I said about not needing to see BUCKETS of blood in order to convey the terror of the birth scene. But rest easy all! xoxo Mel”

Fansite Friday interviews Jodelle Ferland

For our final Fansite Friday, we have Bree Tanner herself, Jodelle Ferland. Take note that we did this interview before The Second Short Life of Bree Tanner was released.

Jodelle Ferland:

Q: We all know that you had a chance to read the ‘Eclipse’ novella, but we were wondering if you got to sit down with Stephenie and go over your character?

Jodelle: I did get to read the book first, which was great. I did talk to Stephenie, but most of the talking I did with David Slade, the director. He sat down and talked with me about the character and the book. So I did most of that with David Slade but I did talk to Stephenie about it too.

Q: You’ve known about the book for a long time, much longer than us. Now that it’s officially been announced and the release date is out there, do you feel different about your character? More excited, more nervous?

Jodelle: When I first got to read the book, I didn’t know what was going to happen with it and I don’t think that Stephenie did either. So when I found out that it was coming out as it’s own book I was really excited. Even though I already knew about it, I was just so excited that my character was getting her own book! I can’t wait for it to come out. [Read more…]
