Oregon live listened to the Twilight DVD commentary and they were pretty amused that the cast and crew seemed to be a bit baffled and unprepared for the local weather.
DVD Commentary: “The weather kept changing.”
Oregon Live Response: “OK, tell us something we don’t know.”
They give their whole rundown here.
It looks like they haven’t quite adapted yet as reports from the set this weekend had Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart wearning Nike’s and lighter weight jacket on the freezing cold and damp beach. The locals who stopped by the filming were all in boots, knit hats, and down jackets.
Yesterday the news broke that the Twilight DVD sold over 3 million copies on its first day, quite a record for an independent film shot by a small company. So just who else has tallied numbers like that? According to EW, in the last two years the only films to manage that are: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, The Dark Night, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Transformers.
And in case you want Bella’s look, you are in luck. Her blue jacket from the meadow scene goes into wide distribution this July.
According to costume designer Wendy Chuck, ”I literally brought that on set just before they rolled cameras.” TY to Kaila
According to BoxOffice Mojo Twilight’s sales totals are still on the climb since the film hasn’t gone to DVD in a number of foreign markets yet, and in fact it hasn’t even opened yet in Japan.

So the numbers are finally in and Twilight soared into the top 5 biggest first day sales in the last two years.
“We are incredibly appreciative that TWILIGHT fans came out to once again support this film at our midnight events across the nation,” said Steve Nickerson, Summit’s President of Home Entertainment. “With such a successful first day sales, it is apparent that our fans remain passionate about the TWILIGHT SAGA and want to own a piece of the Edward and Bella story they have come to love. We look forward to the continued success for both the home entertainment and retail sales of this property as a whole.”
You can read the entire press release here.
We have been getting in all kinds of reports from release around the country. From Forks to Puerto Rico people lined up to meet actors or just to be the first in line to get Twilight on DVD.
The Daily Penninsula reports that in Forks nearly 600 people turned out to celebrate teh DVD release. People came from as far away as Maryland. The Quileute Dancers shared parts of their history, including parts of their sacred wolf dance.
Here are some photos from the Kitson DVD Party. Thanks to Vescara for sending in the pics.

Even “Pocket Edward” ventured out to a midnight release party in hopes of meeting Ashely Greene. You can check out his adventures here.
And finally we have a report from Puerto Rico. Thanks Iva for the report and pictures.
Puerto Rico also had its own Midnight DVD release party at the Borders located in Plaza Las Américas, the island’s largest shopping mall. While it was a small affair in comparison with other ones held at the larger cities, those of us who attended had huge amounts of fun. My friend Marta and I got there early in the evening to indulge in some Twilight related fun and excitement.
The Borders staff was amazing and planned a night full of Twilight inspired ideas, such as very hard trivia questions, a rock band that played very cool music, the Twilight Movie Awards, and a lookalike contest. One of the best moments came when the staff played the message from the cast. The screaming was so loud that they very graciously played it at least four times so that we could all scream at the appropriate moments. I was very impressed with their dedication and enthusiasm!
I am sending you guys some pics of our adventures waiting to get our hands on our exclusive Borders Twilight DVD. Needless to say, we went straight to Marta’s home to see it IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks to Becky for sending in this report and pictures on Peter’s visit to Fort Lewis, WA. Becky couldn’t express enough how giving and generous Peter was with his time.
Friday at 7pm Peter Facinelli aka Dr. Cullen attended a free screening of Twilight at Fort Lewis Washington base theater. Attendance was free to all military and their dependents after the screening Peter did a Q&A for all attending. On Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30pm he visited with fans ( he is still there do autographs and pictures). He spent quality time with his fans and there was no limit on how many items you wanted signed. He also took pictures with his fans as well. He had to cancel his flight tonight due to the overwhelming amount of fans that were in attendance. He refused to leave until all fans were able to have there dvd signed. Peter said he was given a choice of coming to DVD signing for Chicago or Fort Lewis he choose Fort Lewis as he wanted to thank soldiers and families for there service. I witnessed Peter thank and shake every soldiers hand that came through the line I commend Peter for his time, he is truly the most classy and giving of any of the cast of the twilight series. I personally stood in line from 11am to 8pm to get a signature and behind me were probably 100 more fans. Peter you are amazing to me. I am touched. Thank you for thinking of us soldiers and family members.

So, I got to meet and interview Edi Gathegi on behalf of Borders on Friday night in their incredibly glamorous basement alcove about the size of my linen closet. After going back and forth several times as to which media outlet got to interview Edi and in which order, we finally got to go last.
Now here’s the thing, we didn’t 100% know for sure it was going to be Edi, but once we realized that Edi did a live NYC based TV show that morning and Border’s flagship, NYC store was down the block…well, let’s just say that you didn’t need to be Alice to figure this one out.
So, Be My Escape and I scrambled and had an “I Heart Black Olives” tote bag made up because Edi first made the “black olives” reference in an interview he gave us last year and then he did it again on live TV that morning. Vito, the guy at the printing shop, thought we were nuts. “Lady, I can make it (the bag) for you in two hours, but really I don’t need to know what you want it for.”
I took a laundry marker and inscribed on the bag: “To Edi, We love you! All your fans at the Twilight Lexicon.
So it’s finally my turn to interview Edi after about 10 people who were ahead of me all of whom asked the same questions: What are you looking forward to the most, what’s your favorite part, were there any practical jokes. So I look at Rich ( our Borders rep) and I say don’t worry, I have better questions.
Now I don’t want to give away too much of Borders material before it launches on their channel but I’ll give you some hints about what I asked Edi: meadow showdown, workouts with Taylor, barefoot Laurent, and my favorite…which the audio on this is going to be fantastic…I got him to actually do the voice of Kelly (let’s see in the comments who knows who “Kelly” was).
So after the interview was over Edi looks at me because my questions were way different (as in I actually have read the books) than everyone else’s, and said “Wait, what website did you say you were from again?” So I replied, “The Twilight Lexicon, and we love your work. In fact we made you a present.” I then indicate the tote bag that I had handed off to the PR team there with Edi. He took one look at the bag, jumped in the air (this was scary cause the ceiling was way low)pumped the air and said “YES!” Turned to me, gave me a high five (which I am so glad I didn’t miss because I am the most spastic person ever when it comes to things like that)and he said “Thank you guys so much!” He said that the fans are the greatest so supportive and he loves all the fansites out there.
Stand by for all of it on Borders Media.
Taylor and Kristen didn’t attend any DVD release events because they have been busy filming the cliff diving scene all weekend. According to the article that appeared in the Canadian Press it looks like the cast and crew had about as much fun filming this as they did the last time they were at the beach:
“Cast members Kristin Stewart, who plays Isabella, and Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, arrived in Tofino by bus Thursday after poor weather grounded their flight here.
Filming kicked off at the rugged and rocky South Beach, located near Wickaninnish Beach inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve before moving to Incinerator Rock at Long Beach.”

As you can see from the above photo over on the Twi-crack blog, it was pretty wet.
After a Salt Lake City radio station announced that a Twilight star was going to be at Wallmart the entire town pretty much abandoned where they were going to get their DVD’s and they headed over to Wallmart. Our Salt Lake City team was prescheduled to lead the fun and games at a Borders across town. So they lead the games, got their DVD’s at Borders and then headed across town to Wallmart where they met Rachelle where Rachelle gave the Lex a shout out and Nena cullen who shot the vid got a surprise hug.
So now that you have had the DVD for almost 24 hours we want to know what your favorite parts were.
In case you haven’t watched the Director’s commentary (with Catherine, Rob and Kristen) stop whatever you are doing and watch it now!! It is just too funny. Our favorite comment from the commentary was made by Rob during the big reveal scene.
“I thought I was going to get Cam’s six pack super imposed.” or “Never trust a man who waxes his eyebrows”
We’ve checked out all the specials on the Borders exclusive edition. There is fantastic never before seen red carpet footage and cast interviews from Comic Con.
