Twilight Tuesday

Stephenie teams up with Blue October for what can only be called the COOLEST book signing tour in history!  For more details, pop on over to MTV’s blog where Blue October front man Justin Furstenfeld talks about his involvement with the tour and possibly writing Twilight inspired music.

Tour dates:

August 1st – New York City, Nokia Theater at Times Square

August 5th – Chicago, Harris Theater

August 7th – Los Angeles, Royce Hall

August 12th – Seattle, Benaroya Hall

More information on ticketing to come.  Use the threads above to begin planning your meet ups in these areas.  And before the upheaval begins, yes we know there are only 4 signing dates.  And yes, that will be it for now as there are no other dates planned at this point.  These are HUGE venues.  The Theater seating capacities range from 1,588 on the smallest to 2,500 at the largest.

This type of signing has never been done before!  This is an unprecedented event – history in the making.  Please remember that Stephenie is one person and that she has already done one big tour this year!  Stephenie reminded us of this on her website.  She even gave a hint that she is trying to find a way so that no one will miss out on the fun.

I’ve toured extensively in the past three years and I need to scale it back for my own mental and physical health. Don’t panic, though — if I’m not coming anywhere close to your town, we’re working on a way to make sure everyone can see the fun of the Breaking Dawn events!                             ~Stephenie

Explanation of the New York signing bookplate:

The New York signing will indeed take place before the release of Breaking Dawn.  Little Brown is making allowances for this by supplying Bookplates to those in attendance.  A book plate is a sticker, like the author signed one in this picture,  that can be placed in your copy of Breaking Dawn once you have purchased it later that weekend.

With the success of the count down to the first chapter of Breaking Dawn we have decided to start a Debate forum.  For those fans who are familiar with the Choices thread, Jacob Past-Future, and the Philosophical Musings thread this will be yet another avenue for you to have indepth highly developed conversations.  We will host a topic a week.  Each topic will have its own thread and at the end of that week the thread will be locked and a new thread with a new topic started.

What we need from you now are debate thread topics not nessasarily theories.  If you are unfamiliar with the style of topic we are looking for check out the threads above before submitting your discussion topic.

Email your debate thread topic to: [email protected]

EDIT:  We are changing the email address to keep this a bit more organized. No fear if you previously submitted an idea, we have forwarded that email to this new one.   [email protected]

Stephenie Meyer Update

There is big news coming our way tomorrow on MTV’s Twilight Tuesday!  In an unusual move Stephenie is releasing her Breaking Dawn Tour info through MTV!  I have my theories as to why this is…do you?  What is so "Cool" about this Breaking Dawn signing tour, that would warrant a major media announcement?  Much less on an entertainment conglomerate like MTV?  Start the speculating now!

Comic Con – What to Expect

Many of you may be wondering… What is Comic Con? Originally Comic Con started off as a comic book convention.  Over the years it branched out into Sci-fi books and movies. There are several mini Comic Con events throughout the country, but the premier event takes place in San Diego.

Comic con features, vendors of all types, from fan merchandise, to out of print Star Trek novels, to X-Men posters, to the debut of the latest Dr. Who toys. Then there are the guest artists who have their own booths/staging area where you can get autographs and possibly a photo depending on the regulations. There are always the guest actors of film and TV scheduled however those plans, as well set in advance as they are, might have to cancel the last second if there is a filming issue (I mean if Speilberg suddenly calls and says I want you in my movie, you don’t say "Sorry, I have to be at Comic Con.") In other words, please be flexable with your expectations.  There are also panel discussions, Q&A type events with various artists where often the cool, insider type info comes out like the details on someone’s next movie.

Lots of participants come in costume, but there are also plenty that don’t. This video on YouTube will give you a great idea of the types of people who come to Comic Con and decide to dress up for the day.

For those who are planning on attending, a reminder that the Q&A panel for Twilight will be on Thursday.  There is also a planned autograph signing that day.  For the other days of the convention there will still be opurtunity to see the Twilight booth, partake of their suprises as well as enjoy the many sites the entire convention has to offer.   Last years Comic Con boasted over 125,000 visitors.  So get there early.

We look forward to seeing your pictures and reading your stories after you return.

*Please note that the Twilight Lexicon has no control over ticketing, actor apprarences, or any other aspect of this event.

Sarah Clarke Interview

We are pleased to share with you our interview with Sarah Clarke cast as Renee Dwyer in the movie Twilight.

Highlights:

"Catherine has an amazing mind that is always working and creating. I learn a lot from her just listening to her ideas…I feel she knows what she needs from each scene and is willing to let you find it with the other actors."

"I know that the Renee we created for the movie had her reasons for worrying about Bella and had a hard time being separated from her."

Sarah is an exceptional talent who has had and will continue to have an incredibly bright career in Hollywood.  We appriciate the time she has spent with us and look forward to seeing her portray Renee on the big screen this December.  We now present the interview.
