Battle for Your Band Bucks

Well realizing that everyone is going to want that Twilight Soundtrack, various sites are doing everything in their power to make such you get the CD from them.

Hot Topic is having a listening party on October 24th at 7:00pm. Anyone who pre-orders the item then gets special unnamed gift while supplies last. They also get a 10% off coupon for your entire purchase made during the listening party. So if you have been dying for one of those new items that Hot Topic seems to roll out every other day, now is your chance to get one cheaper.

Now Barnes and Noble has its own offer. They will throw in exclusive stickers with their CDs.

The Paramore site Fueled By Ramen is also in on the act with a tee shirt and bookmark to sweeten the deal. TY to Ellen for the heads up.

Fan Trips To Meet the Actors

There are a bunch of opportunities to meet the twilight actors. Now, of course you can roll the dice and hope to be the lucky winner in a contest sponsored by Hot Topic or Reelz Channel. One the other hand, if you have the money, you can go for the sure thing.

First up is one trip for 4 people being offered by Sam’s Club.  For the price of $9,500 four fans get first class airfare, premium hotel accommodations, food by Wolfgang Puck, and a chance to meet and greet the Twilight Stars. If you have the cash, it’s actually a very good deal for what you are getting.

For an opening bid of 1,981.00 you can have lunch with Jacob Black.  Over on Ebay there is an auction for lunch with Taylor Lautner with the proceeds benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Ty to Monica for the heads up.

Now for those of us on a tighter budget, there is Twilight Tours. These are the same people who run the highly successful Harry Potter fan trips. They have two opportunities. One is a trip to see the midnight release of the movie in Portland. The other is a sneak peak for an advance showing in Portland on November 18th. It doesn’t matter which of the trips you book to get a fabulous perk, which is:

"As a special bonus, fans taking the Movie Sneak Preview or Midnight Release Fan Trips will receive VIP passes at an appearance of the Twilight villains – James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) & Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) on Nov. 10th, 2008."

Twilight Books and Audio On Sale

Within the next 15 days or so a variety of Twilight Saga items hit the shelves.

First up is the Twilight Saga Box Set. So if your editions of the books are looking a little shabby, or you want a great Christmas gift for someone who has never been exposed to Twilight. It’s not a bad deal and it hit the shelves today.

There is also the Twilight Collectors Edition. "This deluxe edition of Meyer’s #1 "New York Times" bestseller is housed in a slipcase and features a ribbon bookmark, leather-like spine, newly designed chapter openers, and much more." This one has been available since October 1.

Now shifting over to the movie, Twilight: The Complete Movie Companion hits shelves on October 28th.  "Designed as a celebration of the film–opening on November 21–this lavishly illustrated paperback edition is an exclusive behind-the-scenes guide featuring full-color photos of the cast, locations, and sets, as well as storyboards, interviews, details of special effects, and more."

And rounding out the items releasing in October and November is the movie soundtrack.

Eclipse Up For Award

It’s that time of year again. It’s Teen Reads Week and this year’s theme is Books With a Bite!
Now aside from fabulous events that are going on at your local library, there is also the yearly contest.

The Young Adult Library Services Association opens its voting to the their favorite book. The way the publishing cut-off works is that Eclipse qualifies, but Breaking Dawn doesn’t.  Now if memory serves both Twilight and New Moon won this award in the years that they were entered.

According to Cullen Girl who gave us the heads up:

Teens’ Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in fifteen school and public libraries around the country.

If you read nominated books throughout the year, you’ll be ready to vote for your favorites during Teen Read Week, October 12 – 18, 2008. Readers aged twelve to eighteen can vote right here, online, anytime that week.

Although the survey is targeted to teens, anyone can vote and vote several times. The voting ends October 18th!

Hot Topic Fan Contest

Hot Topic is hosting a contest to send two lucky fans to the Twilight premiere. Get all the details here.

They have also added a new Cullen Crest shirt.

The Twilight Guy Updates

Kaleb Nation, Mr Twilight Guy himself, has done a bunch of recent updates. He is now up to Chapter 24 of New Moon Warning, put down all liquids before looking at the graphic on the page.

Also, Kaleb has a contest going where the prize is one of the brand new Twilight themed hoodies being offered by Twilight Teez.

And last speaking of Twilight Teez, they also just went through a site makeover. Check it out.

Reelz Channel Compares Bella and Sookie

In its ongoing Twilight coverage, Reelz Channel decided to do a bit of comparison, and for once it wasn’t to Harry Potter!

With a little help from the Lexicon’s own SomethingBlue, Bella and Sookie of the True Blood series are compared. SomethingBlue is a big fan of both series and had a chance to give her opinion over at Reelz Channel.

Movie NewsRumors

Boy was this the day that the rumors hit the fan…

First as a point of clarity because there seems to be some sort of rumor going around the Internet that the most popular Twilight sites were asked to take down the Twilight trailer. I can’t speak for other sites, but as far as the Lexicon goes that’s 100% untrue. We are now linking to it on MySpace because the widget with the trailer embedded in it was killing our servers, but that was our personal choice. We certainly were not asked to remove it. Quite the contrary, we were asked to please get it out there.

Next up on the rumor file. The site of the premiere has definitely been relocated. False. According to Summit. "The premiere theater location is in flux right now, but we will let you know when it’s confirmed." Soon as we know we’ll pass the info along.

Now for rumor number 3, the New Moon movie is 100% a go. Everyone is picking up the news story off a site that hasn’t said even said that. What they said is what we’ve all known for months, which is that the studio would like to do a sequel if this first movie is a success, and they’ve made preliminary plans in that regard.
