Atlantic recording artist Christina Perri has announced the world premiere of her eagerly awaited new video, “A Thousand Years.”  The track – exclusively featured on Summit Entertainment/Chop Shop/Atlantic’s upcoming “THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” – is available now at all leading digital retailers, while the album arrives in stores and at all online retailers on Tuesday, November 8th.
“A Thousand Years” will debut Wednesday, October 26th at 6 am ET on an array of MTV platforms, including MTV’s AMTV, MTV Hits, MTV.com, and VH1.com.  In addition, the video – directed by Jay Martin (whose previous work includes Perri’s breakthrough hit, “Jar of Hearts” as well as clips for such artists as Kid Rock, Skylar Grey, Death Cab for Cutie) – will have its VH1 on-air premiere during the upcoming installment of Top 20 Video Countdown, slated to air Saturday, October 29th at 9 am ET (check local listings).
Perri is scheduled to perform “A Thousand Years” as part of the unique promotional tour celebrating the imminent arrival of Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, which opens in theatres nationwide on November 18th.  The tour – which sees appearances from select members of the film’s cast, including Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, and Ashley Greene – will hit concert venues in Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas beginning Monday, November 7th (see attached itinerary).  Additional dates slated for San Francisco and Salt Lake City will feature live performances from Sleeping At Last and Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz, all of whom are also featured on “THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK.”  Tickets are free and will be available beginning at 10 am local time on Saturday, November 5th at each event location.  Tickets are limited to two per person, non-transferable, and available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.  Tour dates and locations, as well as cast availability, are subject to change.
“A Thousand Years” follows Perri’s breakthrough debut album, “lovestrong.,” which entered the SoundScan/Billboard 200 among the top 5 upon its release earlier this year.  The album – which includes the 2x-platinum certified smash, “Jar of Hearts” – is also shaping up as an unqualified international sensation, with top 5 success in Australia and Ireland as well as top 10 sales in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Christina Perri Spills the Beans on an Artist and Actor Breaking Dawn Tour

According to The Hollywood Reporter (yet to be confirmed by Summit so realize these dates and locations may not be 100% solid):

Twilight is hitting the road for a unique run of promotional dates. From Nov. 7 through Nov. 11, one week before The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens nationally, select members of the movie’s cast along with musicians featured on the soundtrack will make appearances in five U.S. cities.

Exactly which Twilight characters will appear in the flesh has yet to be revealed, but the mini-tour kicks off in Atlanta and will travel to concert venues in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. Singer Christina Perri (slated to play three dates), Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz and Sleeping At Last (booked for other two dates) will each perform a brief set including the song they contributed to the movie’s soundtrack.

They quote Perri as saying:

The video for “A Thousand Years” will premiere on Nov. 17. In the meantime, Perri is looking forward to the great unknown. “They’re so secretive about everything,” she says of Summit Entertainment’s rollout plan for the tour. “But I hear there’s a private plane involved and I think it’s the Cullens that will be [on it] — the family, all the siblings and maybe some werewolves. But it doesn’t matter to me. I’d be stoked if it was an extra from the movies… If you would’ve told the Christina Perri of 2007 –who was waitressing all day and coming home every night to read one page of Twilight at a time, so it wouldn’t run out — that four years from now, she was going to be on a private plane with the cast, I think I would’ve passed out. It’s going to be a very surreal moment.”

Hopefully this will pan out. Having a music tour is a brilliant concept with these indie bands, too bad it hasn’t happened before! We’ve come a long way from those Hot Topic mall tours!

Twilight Fan and Breaking Dawn Soundtrack Artist Cried At Film Preview

Can you imagine being a Twilight fan (as in fully committed Twi-Hard with the body art to prove it) and having your song get selected to be on the Breaking Dawn Soundtrack? Well that’s exactly what happened to Christina Perri. As she tells MTV, the whole thing was really emotional.

Yes, I am 1,000 percent a ‘Twilight’ fan. I can’t even deny that I am actually, in fact, a Twi-Hard and have a ‘Twilight’ tattoo,” she laughed, also revealing that she’s Team Edward. “I got a tattoo on my wrist that says ‘bitten,’ and it’s written in the font of all the book titles. So, yes, I am of one the big, geeky fans.”

“I’ll never forget going to the screening of the movie. But, for me, having this opportunity is also such a wild card, because it’s Hollywood, and you never really know. … I wasn’t even sure I was going to be on it until yesterday, when I saw it in print,” she laughed. “So I tried not to get hyped out, because it’s one of my favorite movies, one of my favorite books, one of my favorite soundtracks, and that could potentially freak out the little songwriter in me.

“So I tried to put that aside and take it one step at a time, went to see the movie and cried like a baby, because it’s so good, and I felt so lucky to be there,” she continued. “And then went home and wrote a love song to Edward and Bella … and to have it be chosen, I’m unbelievably honored.”
