Twilight Around the World

The LA Times takes a look at the Korean version of Twilight and wonders if readers, now that the DVD is about to come out, will still have the original version of the characters in the head, or Rob and Kristen.

For three years, the two characters lived only in the imaginations of their readers and looked however readers imagined they looked. There was room for the wispy and pastel-y Korean ideal, or any other. Any girl who loved the Twilight series could picture herself in Bella’s shoes — and house and school and Edward’s arms…”

Now we’ve all heard about the impact Twilight is having in France this week, and we recently saw obsessed fans in Japan. But how about other countries where reading is a luxury?  Well one fan decided to do something about it:

“The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer has had such an amazing impact on bringing people from all over the world together to celebrate its memorable characters and its unforgettable story.  If you could share one of these books with a less fortunate child in a different part of the world, would you not leap at the chance?”

Birthday Giveaway Number 1: The Answer

Phone call between Alphie and Pel on Monday night:

Pel: “So, have you seen the answers to-“

Alphie “HAHAHAHAHAHAA”

Pel: “I take it that means yes?”

Alphie: “HAHAHA…OK, I’ll stop. We were at-“

Pel and Alphie: “Lumos?”

Pel: “Talk about the power of mass suggestion!”

Alphie: “As big a dork as I am I’ve never been to a con for Harry Potter, Star Wars, Superman, anything.”

Pel: “Well, we’re making up for lost time then, cause at last count we’re doing at least three Twilight cons this year.”

So the answers to our first giveaway. Yes Alphie and Pel met in the Harry Potter fandom. Specifically, we are Remus Lupin fans, and we met on a site run by Alphie and some of her friends called The Werewolf Registry. But as long as you said something along the lines of “Harry Potter” you got the first part of the question right. Now for the second portion.  We first met face-to-face at Alphie’s house in Nashville, TN to see the midnight showing of The Goblet of Fire (oddly enough co-starring Robert Pattinson). So if you said something along the lines of it was for a Harry Potter movie release you got the second part right as well. So we threw the names of those getting the correct info into a hat and…drumroll please…Congrats to Irish Sheep! You have won an Ashley Greene signed tote bag!

We’ll be doing our next bit of site trivia on Friday as we continue to celebrate our birthday month, and this time it’s another tote bag up as the prize signed by a Peter Facinelli!

Questions, Questions

Reelz Channel has another challenging Twilight Saga Quiz. How many can you get right?

They also are working on a great article featuring the fansites later this week.

Is American Idol fixed? And is it all because of Edward Cullen? Well since we aren’t on staff at AI we sure don’t know. However we think we are able to safely say that as talented as Adam Lambert is, he’s not Edward Cullen. According to MSN (which must be staffed by the only people on the planet not to know what Robert Pattinson looks like and/or read Twilight to know what Edward Cullen looks like) Adam Lambert resembles vampire Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” movie. Girls love Edward (have you seen the “Twilight” themed conversation hearts that say things like BITE ME and I (heart) E.C.?). Thus, Lambert also gets a ton of attention on the show.”

Forkfuls: Tidbits of Twilight Saga News

Rumor has it that Catherine Hardwicke might be set to direct the James Patterson novel, Maximum Ride, when it makes its transition to the big screen.  Both James Patterson and Stephenie have the same publisher.

Looks like Best Buy is using Facebook to entice fans to buy their version of the DVD. Now if they’d just realize it isn’t just 11year olds…

Denimology deconstructs Kellan Lutz’s look.

Add Access Hollywood to the list of those holding Twilight DVD giveaways.

Time Is Running Out

If you haven’t taken a guess at our first birthday giveaway, make sure you do. We’ll be announcing the lucky winner tomorrow! Anyone who has guessed correctly will have their names thrown in a hat, and then we will pick a random winner from that group.

And then we’ll move on to giveaway number 2! Which is another autograph…wonder whose it is 🙂 ?

Kristen Stewart Goes Into More Detail With MTV

When asked about the whole male vs. female director controversy, this is what Kristen had to say:

I really don’t know. I’ve worked with a lot of male directors, and a lot of females — every single one of them has been entirely different from each other…I can’t think of a direct effect of having a female or a male director. I could speak specifically about Catherine, Chris or [“Cake Eaters” director] Mary Stuart [Masterson]. I could speak about people that I know and that I’ve grown to care about — but I don’t think it’s about them being a girl or a boy.

Vote for Twilight at Kids Choice Awards

We’re still pretty surprised that Twilight made the Nickelodeon Kid’s choice Awards, because we thought it was really on the edge of their age range. But what the heck, it’s nominated and one fan has made a voting widget. TY to David. Regardless of whether Twilight wins or not, Robert Pattinson stated at the Oscars that he was scheduled as a presenter.

The Wolf Pack

Lainey Gossip has been out and about in Vancouver and discovered a certain wolf pack having lunch.

Below is the first look at the wolf pack of New Moon.

TY to CV for the heads up.

Now we are not sure who is who but if we had to guess going on information that is out there the first picture would be Chaske Spencer Alex Meraz (ty yellowgumdrop), the second photo is possibly Bronson Pellitier and last is pretty self explanatory.

Catherine Hardwicke Answers Fan Questions

Over on the Twilight Saga website, Catherine Hardwicke has answered a bunch of fan submitted questions. Did yours make the cut?

This one was submitted by Pel (wording by Alphie) since it was the number one thing fans at the Chicago convention seemed to have on their minds!

Q:  Why did Edward and Bella never actually say the words “I love you” in the film?

A:  For me, they said they loved each other in much stronger ways than actually saying the words.

Forkfuls: News Tidbits from the Twilight World

Kristen rocked the red carpet at the Adventureland premiere in Hollywood last night. Hopefully she doesn’t have to take the red-eye to Vancouver in the morning.

Early reviews are coming in for The Cake Eaters. As far as teh movie itslef goes the reviews are up and down. However for Kristen they are overwhelmingly supportive. Remember that Kristen was 15 when much of the footage was shot.

According to one reviewer, “Kristen Stewart gives a phenomenal, career changing performance as “Georgia,” a girl with the neurological disease Friedreich’s ataxia.”

Rachelle LeFevre stopped by the Fresno Bee to talk about her New Moon role and why Twilight is so easy to relate to , “My awkward stage extended well into high school,” Lefevre says. “Dating and getting attention from boys was something that came later to me. I actually did not have a date to my prom. I ended up taking a friend.”

The Twilight board game has been spotted in Wallmart by Lexiconer Kathleen, and the giant, foam Edward floor puzzle was spotted by Pel on Saturday along with some new key rings and magnets at Borders.
