Andrew Niccol Says Saoirse Ronan Will Be Fantastic In The Host

In this video, the LA Times was able to grab a few moments with director Andrew Niccol on the red carpet of his film In Time to talk about The Host.

  1. I’ll have to see the trailer and judge, but so far in the movies that I’ve seen with her, I just can’t see her pulling it off. It is a tough role and it is one that they should have gotten an older more experienced actress to play. Plus, as much as I love The Host, I don’t see it translating to film very well.

    • Out of curiousity, which movies of hers did you see? I’ve seen three – The Lovely Bones, Hanna, and The Way Back – and she was incredible in each, especially considering her age. They were three very different characters, and it didn’t feel like the same actress playing them at all. It’s also worth mentioning that she was nominated for an Oscar when she was thirteen.

Anyways, that’s just my two cents 😉 Trying to spread the Saoirse love, since so many people seem disappointed about the casting.

      • I’ve seen City of Ember and The Lovely Bones… and it really felt like she had absolutely no emotions in either film. Not that I actually liked either film (but I didn’t like the book of The Lovely Bones either) and I just didn’t feel she really added anything to either of them. I’ve seen the previews for Hanna though and she looks exactly the same, emotionless and blah.

  2. hey just want to say , shame on you for not reporting on twilight BD Paris premiere while you promote the hell out for the dog abjection crappy movie!

  3. They need a great actress for the duel roles of Melanie and Wanderer and they’re so lucky to land Saoirse Ronan. The girl is insanely gifted, has limitless potential, and the best (by a street) young actress on the planet. Those who don’t see that are blind.
