Tweet…Tweet…Tweet

It seems that Entertainment Weekly has been getting Tweets (meaning the Twitter kind) from someone doing a Robert Pattinson spoof. Whoever it is, they have a great sense of humor. Here’s one of the recent tweets “Day 127 of not washing my hair.

Since we’re still in full revamp mode around here, we just finished setting up our own Twitter featuring the new Lex logo. Make sure you add us so you know when we’re updating, and to get previews of stories we’re working on.

Mike Welch Updates

Mike Welch has a bunch of upcoming projects.

First of all The Thacker Case is going to be at the Midwest Independent Film Festival.

He’s also recently wrapped Rough Hustle (Check out the preview on Digi Backlot, a great photo gallery, and a behind the scenes YouTube video) where he plays Jimmy.

Now aside from his film projects (and we hear there’s another in the works), Mike’s making a number of appearances this year at everything from Dragon Con to the Creation Entertainment Twilight Cons. Check out his schedule at his official site.

So Twilighters, what do you think about Mike’s new slicked back, dark-haired look?

A Double Dose of Peter Facinelli

Peter is at his best here, who knew how genuinely funny Peter is! He dishes the dirt on the biting experience, contact lenses, his favorite scene, and just how he feels about Carlisle’s gift, and which book is his favorite.

Twilight Odds and Ends

Sparknotes has a Valentine’s Day poll up. They want to know who is your favorite couple.

Julika has posted the Hall of Fame list of those who solved her Twilight Riddle.  We have to say that we’re really impressed. In the almost three years of running this site we’ve never had the number of comments and interest on any story like we had with Julika’s. In case you’re not exactly sure what we’re talking about, Julika explains it all here.

According to Rueters, it looks like Wallmart is entering the Twilight licensed merchandise feeding frenzy.

Entertainment Weekly Exclusive

ew

This week’s Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at Catherine Hardwicke’s upcoming book about the making of Twilight. She had been negotiating a way to direct the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s monster-selling sequel New Moon, and the talks had reached the breaking point.  Summit Entertainment offered her a queenly sum to resume her place at the helm – “more money than I or anyone in my family has ever seen,” says Hardwicke – but told her she’d be working with a tight deadline and a modest budget.  Regretfully, she told the executives they needed to find themselves a new director. “I was devastated,” she says.  “I really did feel a strong connection to the people around the world that liked the movie – and to Stephenie and the actors.  But I just didn’t think I could make a good movie under those circumstances.”

Hardwicke first began discussing Twilight: Director’s Notebook with Meyer’s publisher last summer, and then Twilight went on to gross over $350 million worldwide (so far).  “When the movie made enough money, they thought it was worth it,” says Hardwicke.  “They said, ‘Now you have three and a half weeks to do it!’  And I was like, Okay, I’m just going to keep writing until they rip this out of my hands!”

Fans continue to whip themselves into a frenzy online in anticipation of New Moon, which is already deep into pre-production under new director Chris Weitz.  (Hardwicke notes the irony that her replacement is enjoying a better deal than she’d been promised.  “I know the budget they were talking about with me – they’ve already gone way beyond that,” she said.)  But she’s done nursing her broken heart.  “I’m optimistic that it’s going to be great, and I’m sad that it didn’t work out for me to do it,” she said.  “But I’ll do something else cool.”

Hardwicke’s publisher allows EW.com to post two pages online here:  www.ew.com/twilightdiary

To see the rest, you’ll have to pick up a copy of the Feb. 20 issue of EW, available here: www.ew.com/twilight2009

Peter Facinelli is scheduled to appear on February 13th with his wife, Jennie Garth, on Chelsey Lately, the talk show hosted by Chelsea Handler of Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea! fame. Ty to Chris for the heads up.

In case you missed Billy Burke’s appearance on TNT’s The Closer, have no fear, you can watch the episode online. Look for Billy to make several more appearances this year.

Catherine Hardwicke Speaks!

At long last Catherine Hardwicke has broken her silence as to what went down in regards to her no longer being involved with future Twilight films. Until today, we’ve only have a brief press statement put out by Summit’s PR department.

Click here to see Catherine’s full commentary to EW:

“I was devastated,” she says now. “I really did feel a strong connection to the people around the world that liked the movie — and to Stephenie and the actors. But I just didn’t think I could make a good movie under those circumstances.”

Catherine also talks to Entertainment Weekly about what to expect in her upcoming director’s notebook. EW has an exclusive sneak peak.
