Evening News

The LA Times has two great articles that do more than just quote and rehash last night’s press release. The first is entitled "Why Twilight’s Director Got the Boot", and the second talks about what Catherine’s departure means for New Moon.

MTV has one of the best discussions going on possible replacement directors.

As for where we stand, we’re still taking a let’s wait and see where this thing is going attitude. We sure weren’t part of any talks between Catherine and Summit. They alone know what was discussed, and why they parted ways. In the elaborate game of Internet he said she said we’re not going to second guess who said what to whom and how. Right now, we’re looking to keep the drama in the books and on the screen where it belongs. We’ll see what eventually pans out. It may not be glitzy and in your face, but that’s our opinion and we’re sticking with it. 🙂

Awhile back People ran a poll to decide who would get their next focus page: Rob, Kristen, or Taylor. Well, probably to the surprise of no one, Rob won and now has his own page. On the off chance People is reading this, cool, but we’d kinda like it if Taylor and Kristen had their own pages too. TY to multiple people for emailing in.

By all reports, The Hub Convention went off fabulously.  Taylor, Nikki, and Edi were fan favorites at the one day signing/Q &A events that were held in two cities. Here is one fans report.

Mike Welch updated his blog. Also, if you can find it, Mike will be in the December issue of Stargate SG-1 magazine.

Variety posts a bit of a follow up to yesterday’s news from Summit that Catherine is no longer attached to New Moon, mostly everyone else is just rehashing the same press release that we had. As far as the Lexicon goes, we’re adopting a wait and see attitude. As many people in our comments have pointed out most series do change up directors and this could be a good or bad thing depending on a number of things. So, we aren’t resorting to panic, we’re going for taking a deep breath, and waiting to see where this is going.

Twilight Fun Last, but not least, Kudos to Jamielee for giving us the best laugh of the morning. I’m now wiping the coffee off my monitor.

Summit Announcement

SUMMIT BEGINS SEARCH FOR NEW MOON DIRECTOR

Los Angeles, CA, December 7, 2008 – Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted TWILIGHT film franchise.  Summit’s targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 release of the film, NEW MOON, does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen.  Thus as has been done before with many successful film franchises, the studio will employ a new director for NEW MOON.

"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct NEW MOON,” said Hardwicke.  “Directing TWILIGHT has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel– it is a great story."

“Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the TWILIGHT franchise and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production.   “We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next installment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created.  We are able to pursue an aggressive time frame as we have the luxury of only adapting the novels into screenplays as opposed to having to create a storyline from scratch.”

The Nashville Lexicon Screening

Sorry it took awhile to do this, but this is what happens when you hold an event the weekend before Thanksgiving and then the entire admin team comes down with the flu!

Anyway, we both want to say again how completely fabulous it was to see the Twilight Movie in a movie theater filled with Lexiconers! People traveled from Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, New Jersey, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, and Utah to come and see the movie with us.

We have two videos for you. The first one shows you what went into the goodie bags that we gave out, and the second features the winners of the raffled prizes.  Given that the cost of the event was $10.00 a person, all-in-all we’d say that people definitely got their money’s worth!

Don’t worry our creative juices are already flowing for what we will do for the New Moon movie. We can guarantee to you that it will be bigger and better than the Nashville event, and frankly…even if we do say so ourselves…we think we did pretty good this last time.
