“I’m so excited to be working with Nick Weschler, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz to bring The Host to a visual format. They’ve all been a dream to work with, so lovely and collaborative, and I feel like we’re in a really good place to make a great movie together. And then to have Andrew Niccol writing and directing? Truly awesome. If you’ve never seen Gattaca, go watch it now. One of my favorite movies of all time. It’s such a great example of character driven science fiction, which is ideal for The Host, no? I’m having an absolute blast imagining different dream casts, which I would post if people didn’t take my silly blogs so seriously these days. I’m looking forward to seeing the cast lists you come up with in the fansite forums, and if any of them match mine.

i’m such a huge sci-fi geek but i couldn’t get into this at all even after reading it two times. it was just really, really cheezy.

Hey Twi-friend! When I first started to read it I had major mind drift problems during the first chapter but I stuck with it and it got really good!

I agree. I hated it the first time I read it but then a friend convinced me to read it again. The second time I LOVED it. I have read it 4 times so far and now all this talk of a movie is making me want to read it again!

yeah i was soo so ready to give up after the first few chapters but i was like no i am gona make myself read this and once i got into it i rly liked it but not as much as the twilight books but i think the movie will be great

You have to try to read it again. The beginning was really hard to get through, but its definately worth it once you continue reading. I know I was about to stop after a few chapters, but had a feeling it would get easier as I read on.
no, you’re right. the host really isn’t a good book. you could literally skip chapters and not miss any of the story. the whole thing was like 300 pages too long.
it was bella but just in different wrapping with the whole recycled love traingle deal. you know, the whole protagonist martyr girl with two dudes in love with her. sound familiar?
i think it was written before twilight. it didnt get play for a reason. twilight was great. stephenie is jusst so hot right now that she could poop, wrap it up in tin foil, put fish hooks on ‘em, call them earrings, and people would buy it for $1000 dollars.
I’m glad The Host is finally getting some recognition too! It tends to get over shadowed by The Twilight Series and it’s such a well written book. Can’t wait! =)
As happy as I am to see that this will be translated to film, with Stephenie so busy between Host and The Twilight Saga, I have this fear, she’ll never find time to write again!
We probably won’t see a new book from her until sometime after 2010 at this rate.

YES!! I’m very excited about this after reading that Andrew Niccol will be involved. Gattaca is seriously one of the best movies. So good! If he can do the same with The Host, then it will be a truly astounding film.
I’m a little upset. This will just delay any work being done to get Breaking Dawn under way.
I don’t think you have anything to worry about where that is concerned. Breaking Dawn will be in Summit’s hands if it is made. The Host is being done by a whole other company. So the two shouldn’t slow each other down in any way.

Yay! I loved “The Host”! It pulled me in the same way the “Twilight” series did. I hope she also writes one or two sequels.
I love this book so much and I am thrilled it is going to be a MOVIE. I always thought Sam Elliot was Jeb when I read it. He would be PERFECT in my very humble opinion. I really hope Stephenie does another book.Two books would be sprinkles on top of a great sundae! She must be so excited and proud of herself.

I am so happy that The Host is being made into a movie! I haven’t read that book in about a year because i didn’t have much money to spend on it, but i’m coming into some money soon and i’m definitely buying it. *My sisters been bugging me about it too!* This movie will be great! I absolutely loved the Host even though the first few chapters were a little tough to get through. I admit that my brain wandered too in the beginning, but the book was so character driven and highly emotional. Ahh….Wanderer and Ian.
I really hope they put that line in there…”I held you in my hand…and you were so beautiful…” Makes me cry just thinking about it.
Now i have to come up with my dream cast!
And now that The Host is being made into a movie, i really hope that that means Stephenie is writing the sequels. Who knows, they might be finished already? We all know her books take about two years to edit and such. Maybe they haven’t told us yet!

Omg I would be so excited if The Host was made into a movie, I hope it goes through. I have to say that the beginning of the book was kind of slow and disappointing, but I kept reading and loved the rest of it!

I can’t decide who I would like to be melanie/wanda but I always envision wanda/pet as Amanda Seyfried, Willie Nelson as Jeb, Tom Welling as Jared and Henry Cavill as Ian (Stephenie loves him so why not!) Everyone else I’m not sure about! Can’t wait to hear about all the developments!!

it will be amazing to see how they do it – i would think it could be a little challenging…
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS Stephenie Meyer on getting the Host to become a movie!! I am sooo excited! The Host is an amazing book, just a wonderful story. Which brings me to my second point…no Host bashing please!! Why are people wasting their energy with negative comments here?! That is rediculous. The Host is a moving and wholesome story and I can’t wait for it to be put to the big screen.
