Muse Reworks “I Belong to You” for New Moon Soundtrack

According to MTV, Muse frontman, Matthew Bellamy, confirmed exactly how Muse will take part in the New Moon soundtrack:

“He [Chris Weitz] wants a rendition of that [I Belong to You], but the only thing with the new film is they want the songs to be exclusive to the film. So he’s asking if I mind doing, or if we mind doing an alternative version of it.”

Bellamy said the band is up to the challenge. “I think it’s all right. … If it was one of the main tracks on [our] album, I would never do it,” he said. “But it’s actually one of the weirder tracks on the album … one of the ‘can’t believe we got away with it’ kind of tracks. I think it might be worth giving it a go [because] it’s a track that might not get played live very often … so it might give that track some life that it wouldn’t have otherwise.”

Meet Me on the Equinox: New Moon Soundtrack Video Shoot

Death Cab for Cutie talks about their music video plans for their New Moon Soundtrack song”

“Their first idea was to go big, as in “cameos by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.” Of course, that was mostly just wishful thinking, so they went with option number two: make a smart, stylish clip with the directorial tandem known as Walter Robot, a pair of guys known for making smart, stylish clips (including DCFC’s VMA-nominated “Grapevine Fires”).”

It looks like the Kings of Leon will not be on the New Moon Soundtrack, at least according to a quot from teh band that appears in Billboard.

“Kings of Leon are pondering the release of another single for “Only By Night” — Followill is thumping for “Notion” — but will not, as rumored, be contributing anything to the soundtrack for “New Moon,” the second film in the “Twilight” series.”

Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner runs down the rest of the story for you here.

So since KOL is now out, what band do you want to see most on the New Moon soundtrack?

New Moon Soundtrack Rundown

So over the last few weeks there has been all kinds of talk about the New Moon Soundtrack.  Chris Weitz, in an interveiw with Fandango, mentioned that Thom Yorke (from Radiohead), Bon Iver and Band of Skulls have all contributed to the soundtrack.  He also mentions begging the Kings of Leon to contribute a song which would be a fantastic addition. We have also seen tweets from The Used saying they were in the studio recording a song for the soundtrack.  Other than that we have no official word regarding it. However there have been several artists saying they have been “shortlisted” such as Jacqui Ryan and Lee Safar, both from Australia. Below you will find videos and links to each artist so you can check them out.  Let us know what you think in the comments! Also don’t forget the New Moon Soundtrack will be out on October 13th!!

**Please note these songs are just samples of the artists’ work.  We have no idea what will be used on the soundtrack.

Thom Yorke The Present Tense

The three members of Band of Skulls, Russell Marsden (guitar & vocals), Emma Richardson (bass & vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums), first met at college and quickly discovered that having two lead singers and three songwriters in a band was always going to present unlimited possibilities. With their creative process and sonic path fully intact the band quickly established themselves in the music and art community with a series of culturally inspired club nights in Southampton, London and further afield in Moscow and Tokyo.

Bon Iver (pronounced: bohn eevair; French for “good winter” and spelled wrong on purpose) is a greeting, a celebration and a sentiment. It is a new statement of an artist moving on and establishing the groundwork for a lasting career.

It wasn’t planned. The goal was to hibernate.

Justin Vernon moved to a remote cabin in the woods of Northwestern Wisconsin at the onset of winter. Tailing from the swirling breakup of his long time band, he escaped to the property and surrounded himself with simple work, quiet, and space. He lived there alone for three months, filling his days with wood splitting and other chores around the land. This special time slowly began feeding a bold, uninhibited new musical focus.
