Kellmett Sponsored Contest

The Folks over at Kellmett (you have to love that name, shear genius) are sponsoring the Forkies–a fansite and fan recognition contest.  There’s a button below that will take you right there and that any site can use to advertise this.  Please note that the site does not have to be an LJ site to be nominated, nor do you need to have an LJ to make a nominating post.  All of your favorite Twilight related sites are up for nomination… including the Lexicon!

The Kellmett is the home of the fabulous Kikki who has given us those wonderful what it’s like to be an extra on set reports.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic CLICK TO NOMINATE!

Speaking of set reports, since I have been asked, the Lexicon’s policy for photos and reports has always been from the beginning that we will only publish what people standing behind rope lines who do not create problems give to us, and any extra info that is not a violation of anyone’s contract with Summit.  Ask K from Kalama, she’ll back me up on this.

We continue to stand by that policy established well over a month ago. Yes there is info floating out there that we get(sometimes we’ve had it for weeks…or even years ask Alphie), verify the legitimacy and then sometimes don’t publish because we’ve been asked not to by various people. It’s not that we don’t know, it’s a respect thing. That’s why we have a great rapport with Stephenie, various artists, and other media outlets.

The Host Sites

Some Lexiconers are leading the charge into The Host fandom.

First there is the wonderful The Host Index run by the fabulous Alcyone, Julia, Ouisa, Violet Quagmire, Corygirl. They have a blog, forums, you name it they have it! Check them out.

Next up is The Host Library, a fanfic site run by the equally fabulous Geographee. They are currently holding a fanfic contest. Details below, so check them out!

Flash Fic Contest
The Host Library is pleased to announce its first flash fiction contest. The rules are as follows:
1. All submissions may be no longer than 500 words.
2. All submissions must be based on the excerpt of The Host found on Stephenie Meyer’s
website.
3. Submissions must be sent to [email protected] no later than 12 AM EST on April 15th.
The winning stories will be posted in The Library on April 20th!

First Submission Period
If you would like to become an author here, our submission process is very simple. Our first open submission period (separate from the Flash Fic Contest) will be June 6th through the 13th. Please read our Submission Guidelines CAREFULLY, anything that does not conform to our rules will be immediately disqualified. Then send your work to [email protected] or [email protected]. (Anything sent BEFORE or AFTER the open submission period will be automatically deleted.) Sometime in July, we will send out notices to all of the accepted authors/artists. Please note that you are either accepted as an author or an artist, not within both categories, unless you submit work and are accepted in both categories.

Rob Leading the list

The Movie Fanatic site has an list of the hottest 50 male stars, and guess who has made the top 30?  Currently they have 31-50 listed, but Rob’s picture is featured in their top of the list photo array.  So stay tuned to see what number he comes in at!

Thanks to BLOODSUCKINGLEECH for the heads-up!

While I’m speaking of Rob, there is a support Rob as Edward petition going around. We think most of the early groaning has died down, but a show of support never hurts, so sign in!

Finally check back this afternoon for details on another cool petition that everyone can get onboard for!

The Silverton Appeal Article

The Silverton Appeal has a picture of Rob and Kristen’s doubles,  Helena Barrett and Paul Darnell, doing some stunt work.  The article talks about some recent shooting in a local park. In all probability this is what Kristen was referencing In her MTV interview when she mentioned running in the tree tops. Be warned the picture is a little spoilery, so don’t click if you’d rather be surprised.

Thanks to Twilight Obsessed for the heads-up.

When is 25 not 25?

When we read Mike Welch’s blog today and he spoke about receiving the socks spurred on by this post, of course we wanted to know how many socks he got.  So we contacted his management who told us 25 or 30 pairs of socks. Which we thought was pretty cool, but somehow we thought more fans than that had responded.

Well the next thing you know we get a phone call from Mike’s mom…yes, his mom( *waves to Mike’s mom!*). It seems that they had the number only partially right. They have received 25 BOXES of socks such as:

  • baby booties (Mike’s mom is saving those for when Mike has kids of his own.)
  • tube socks
  • dress socks
  • Twilight themed socks
  • hand-knit socks
  • socks with individual toe holders.

Mike hasn’t seen them yet since he’s been filming, he’s only been told about them and the notes attached to them.

Review for The Host

Blog Critics has posted a review of the Host (don’t worry not too spoilery if you want to read it)

Part of the review states:

"The story ends on a note of hope. It is an emotional ride from beginning to end – all 631 pages. Any science fiction fan will enjoy this story, but Stephenie Meyer may have done for science fiction what she did for fantasy when she wrote Twilight. The Host is set in enough of a realistic setting that even people who aren’t sci-fi fans will enjoy this story. You’ll want to put this one in your to-be-read-again pile."

Movie music and more.

Alexandra Patsavas, music supervisor for the Twilight movie, was interviewed by CNBC for her work on Grey’s Anatomy.  It gives a great insight into how she goes about compiling her soundtracks.

Variety also had a recent Twilight movie and Oregon filming story.

movie updates

While we took the time to have some April Fools fun, there were a couple of movie updates.

Peter Facinelli has an audio interview with Twilight Theories.

Twilight Moms has outdoor pictures(edit: not the meadow)

Edited to add the following:

Just a reminder to let the actors have their human lives. We may not always like what their personal choices are in their private lives, but they are their private lives and not their screen lives. So, if the guy playing Ben wants to run naked in his backyard, swigging a brewski, while singing Abba’s greatest hits…as creepy as that is, it’s none of our business unless he gets Melissa Rosenberg to write in a whole new Ben scene based on his bizarre antics.

No problem if you want to critique anyone on their acting skills, or lack thereof, but let’s keep personal lifestyle choices out of it unless it’s affecting their acting such as arriving late on set and thereby disrupting production.

And, last but not least a fan is putting together a memory book for Stephenie. Here are the details if you want to participate. Please contact her directly with questions.

I am lucky enough to go to one of Stephenie’s book signings in The Host tour! I would like to give her a gift of appreciation while I am there. So… I am making a "Stephenie Meyer Appreciation Book"! I need your help! Here are the rules:

1. Send your entry to [email protected] (not a message here) of how you appreciate Stephenie Meyer for whatever reasons you have! It may just be a quick letter (no longer than 1 page), a picture you’ve "photoshopped" (or whatever program u use) of YOURSELF that may be Twilight/The Host/SM related, a poem about SM or whatever you need to use to express your gratitude towards this wonderful woman! Please use "SM Book" as the Subject Title of your e-mail so I know what you are sending it for. In your e-mail, please also put your name & where you are from.

Your entry needs to be one of the following:
** A Microsoft Word document as a ’.doc’ file or a ’.docx’ file (for MS Word 2007 users). Please, NO .wps files!
** A picture file (jpg, bmp, gif, etc.) with perferably a 150-300 dpi.

2. Book pages will be printed in B/W, so keep that in mind when composing your page.

3. The book will NOT be available for purchasing after it is finished. I’ve talked with SM’s Publicist and Agent and for copyright reasons & it CANNOT be sold.

4. The book will be "perfect bound" so it can easily sit on her book shelf at home, hopefully next to her Twilight books!

5. Please DO NOT limit your entry to be about "how much you love Twilight, Edward Cullen or other characters". Remember, this is a STEPHENIE MEYER Appreciaition Book. Not a "I Love Twilight" Book. These things can be mentioned, but please do not limit your entry to just that.

6. The deadline for entries is Friday April 25th. Any after that will not be accepted. I need time between then and the book signing Im going to, to prepare the book and have it printed.

7. Once again, PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME AND WHERE YOU ARE FROM IN THE LETTER AND/OR EMAIL. I am organizing the book by the State/Country you are from.
HAPPY SENDING!
<3 Tara
To answer some questions –
** Yes you can send more than 1 thing, but no more than 2. Like a quick letter and a picture.
** If you DO NOT get a reply from me, it’s been received, everything went well and its in the book.
** If you DO get a reply from me, then something went wrong and you sent a wrong file type or forgot your name and location.
** The book may not be sold, but u WILL be able to see it. I may just take pictures, or I may post a link to the PDF. I’m still debating.

We’re Back

We hope you all enjoyed our little April Fools prank. There will absolutely be a Forkscast about our adventures in Volterra.

For those of you who missed it. This year the Volturi "took over" the Lexicon, complete with and entry page, movie, discussion thread, and forums.  We hope you all had fun!

Stephenie Updates Her MySpace

Stephenie just posted the following on her MySpace (in other words, don’t miss out on this chance if she is coming to a town near you):

"Just a reminder that many of the events on The Host tour still have tickets available. I’ve seen a few comments from people looking forward to the Breaking Dawn tour, so I wanted to reiterate that The Host tour is the last big tour that I will be doing. Chances are that if I’m coming somewhere close to you, I won’t be coming to the same city the next time around. Also, there won’t be as many events on the Breaking Dawn tour, which means not as many tickets. At most of The Host events, I will be able to sign a couple of your Twilight Saga books, so if that is your goal, don’t procrastinate.

All the information about the events on my The Host tour and the rules for the individual events are up on my site’s calendar page."

Also, because no doubt someone will ask, there are limited tickets because Stephenie’s last signings drew 1,000’s of fans. Many of them had backpacks filled with 20+books. She was signing upwards of 5,000 books per event. As generous as Stephenie is, there are limits to human endurance.

Local bookstores just can’t handle that volume on-site that’s why the signings except for the Mall of America are at off-site venues. Additionally they have rental fees associated with those sites, that’s why there is a fee for the tickets to cover the rental, security , staffing, etc.
