Robert Pattinson Related to Dracula?

According to ET:

“The Associated Press says researchers at have connected Pattinson and the Transylvanian ruler through their relationship to the British royal family; the site claims Pattinson is a distant cousin of Princes Harry and William, who are distant nephews of Vlad the Impaler.

“Tracing Pattinson’s family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to ‘The Twilight Saga,'” said Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at “Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson’s life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he’s playing on screen.”

  1. What? You’ve got to be kidding me! ROFL

  2. YES!!! hahhahaha

  3. Like any of us can pick who we are related to?
It is pretty funny that the connection exists. Personally, I’m more interested in the connection to the Royal Family. Rob would make a great addition to the family! Can you see him showing up to the family reunions?! HAHA Who knows maybe he’d be able to make the Queen crack a smile! 😉

  4. What?!
My vampire obsession started with Twilight, but I’ve expanded my horizons a lot since then, and Vlad Dracula’s time has become one of my favourite historical periods lately. I read somewhere that direct descent had gotten pretty much lost in 1632 or something, but then I found another source saying it wasn’t true and I was a little confused. I guess this sets the record straight, and in a very nice way, too!

  5. Now that would be fate, I hope it’s true!

  6. FWIW, here is the original press release from

  7. MaleTwilightFan says:

I was really astounded at this as well let alone his connection to the royal family. I wonder what is reaction will be once he is told. There is a good historical fiction novel written by Elizbeth Kostova called “The Historian” that deals with Vald. Perhaps Robert was destined to play Edward all along.

  8. MeyaRose says:

I wouldn’t trust these things. My sister told me that she was looking around on and it said we are descended from one Native American who married into my Scottish/German family. (I’m not sure which side it said that.) Its the first I’ve ever heard of it, I suppose its possible, but it seems incredibly unlikely, considering I’m one of the palest people I’ve ever encountered.

    • you have to take into account both your parents family histories… I have native american on my moms side… And I’m white… very white. On my dads side, we have German, Czech, and Irish. So you see, you must think on both family sides… PLUS it seems like your family is far enough along that it is not on the fore front on knowledge. So it is quite possible that it’s true.

      • MeyaRose says:

I know its possible, but I’m just saying its unlikely, as I’ve never heard that before, and we tend to keep track of that kind of thing. These websites have a lot of mistakes though, because people just throw information in there without double-checking dates, names, marriages, etc.

  9. ROFL!!
so I guess Rob’s a real vamp as well as edward, huh?

OMG! imagine if robert pattinson was a vampire?? that would be so awesome!

  10. jennifer says:

I can’t believe someone actually took the time to do that! Silly!

  11. WOW! That means I’m related to Robert Pattinson!!! How awesome!!

  12. That means that he is in line to the british throne, if he is truly related… no idea what number…

    • MeyaRose says:

Um, no it doesn’t, the line of succession is INCREDIBLY long, the last person on this list on wikipedia is number 1780, and it says that her children are ahead of her because they are descended from her husband, who is higher on the line. Its actually pretty ridiculous that the line is documented that long, because chances are that all they really need documented is the immediate descendants of the current queen (There are 12.) The way I see it, if your below 100 or even 50 on the line, you really aren’t in line, because your chances of becoming ruler are non-existent.

  13. Vlad was a true monster and not someone you would want to claim in your family history. However, the royal connection is interesting.

  14. mschicklet says:

“Tracing Pattinson’s family back to Vlad was difficult research”

And clearly you have a lot of time on your hands, folks at

  15. what a load of bs.

  16. Yea. Therefore I am related to St. Jehanne D’Arc/sarc. I didn’t know about the Vlad name (and I thought this was all very VERY mythical) but I will fetch that on Wikipedia or Yahoo! it.

For Rob to be King of England, I guess 500 in line to the throne would have to die (reminds me of a comedy show episode).

    • Vlad Dracula did exist. He is a historical figure. There is just no proof that he was a vampire…(probably, because vampires are mythical creatures;))

      • Guess he made his enemies bleed to death; that’s the only explanation for the vampire thing. As far as Rob goes, if he reads this he’d roll on the floor LOL’d. Kewl he’s such a happy camper.

        • His nickname is Vlad the Impaler. He killed thousands of people by having his armies literally heave peoples’ bodies onto huge wooden steaks.
The vampire legends come from somewhere else, I think. People would “see” their dead relatives walking around after they’d died. So someone would dig up the body to make sure they were still in their coffins. Many times the dead bodies would have blood coming from their mouths, ears, noses, etc. These were the days before embalming. The blood had to go somewhere. People back then believed (being the superstitious people they were) that their dead loved ones were rising from the dead at night to suck the blood of the living. They had to explain the blood somehow.

  17. Now I wanna see the presser about William and Harry being related to Dracula. Sorry for me being so skeptical but I don’t recall the Royal Family related in any way, shape or form to Dracula.

  18. Default says:

This just goes to prove that the general public has far too much free time on their hands. To claim that it was “hard research” alone is pretty pathetic. Why waste the time anyways?

  19. Hahaha, way to sneak yourself onto the Twilight bandwagon,

  20. I thought it was pretty funny. I kind of have to agree with Sylvia on that one. Everyone is trying to get on the Twilight bandwagon.

  21. Noah Brighten says:

Talk about a moment of useless information. Does it really matter how Rpatz is related to? No… The fact is we are ALL related some way or another. All you have to do is travel further and further back in time, so genelogies really don’t mean anything. All I know is that I am German, Dutch, French… and possibly a whole lot of other things.

To me this is all smoke and mirrors.

  22. KSmithGray says:

Don’t get too excited… We’re all distant cousins of someone’s cousin. Unless the bloodlines are unbroken by marriage, meaning he’s a direct descendent (great great great…grandson), thenit is really meaningless. You could pick any two people in the world and connect them via cousins by marriage.

Sounds cool at first, but really just sort of common sense if you think about it.

    • Lets hope this young man will get some time to regroup, even the most patenit of us would be getting a little sick and tired of being followed and having our photo taken and being spoken about, how hard must it be to be on a plane trapped with no where to hide. I know its part of being famous, but really give him some space, I hope he has the strength to endure. I would hate to see him go down the same path as Heath Ledger.

  23. Twilight dreamer says:

um, odd byt cool its kinda wierd the connections we can make.
