100 Monkeys Rocks the House

By all accounts Jackson Rathbone’s band 100 Monkeys gives an awesome live performance.

At the Chicago Flashback Convention, when we asked Ashley Greene, who can be seen in the audience at one of his shows totally rocking out, whether Jackson was better as a solo artist or with the band, Ashley’s response was an enthusiastic, “OH! He’s better with the band!

If you want to keep track of the band, make sure you friend them on MySpace. Fortunately the band has a bunch of upcoming gigs including one that’s going on as we post this:

Joan Jett Gives Kristen Stewart Her Seal of Approval

According to the Canadian site Contactmusic, Joan Jett is happy that Kristen Stewart is playing her in the upcoming film The Runaways.

It looks like Kristen joins the list of Twilight actors with musical talent. According to Joan Jett, “She sounded great and played well. She has the passion for it, which you can’t really be taught.”

It will be a packed year for Kristen as she’ll be shooting this film around New Moon. Now that Kristen is 18 she has a lot more flexibility in her filming schedule.

Did anyone actually hear Ryan Seacrest?

OK, here’s the latest rumor, and we’re thinking this is a potential no brainer. It all starts with a post over on the Oh No The Didn’t community where someone read on the Madonna message boards that Ryan Seacrest said on his E! News program that Madonna might be in New Moon in the cast or on the soundtrack. Now if that last sentence doesn’t sound like the rumor mill on the 4th grade playground, we don’t know what does.

Now a bunch of media sites, who of course haven’t contacted the Ryan Seacrest show producers because they apparently haven’t heard of this thing called the telephone, or this other new fangled thing called email, have somehow morphed this into “Madonna cast in New Moon”.  Pel’s response was, “As who? Mrs. Cope?”

WE ARE NOW PAUSING FOR THE SCREAMING FOR THOSE THRILLED OR NOT THRILLED.

OK, now that you are focused again. Here’s where you can help out. Did anyone who reads our blog actually hear Ryan Seacrest’s show and actually hear him mention this info? There is zip, nada, nothing to substantiate this over on E! (though various sources cite E!) and given the voracious way they have covered Twilight it seems odd that they wouldn’t put this front and center especially if one of their own correspondents got the scoop.

Usually when Ryan Secrest says something Twilight related we got a bunch of fans who email us about what they heard, and frankly we haven’t gotten a single tip from a fan who actually heard Ryan say this.  So unless Ryan has suddenly lost a significant portion of his Twilight listeners, this is seeming kind of fishy to us.

Hot Topic Adds New Items

Hot Topic finally added to their online catalog the PJ’s that have been in their stores for awhile. They also have added a new shirt to the collection.

Alice in Action

Well, action figure that is. Alice is joining the Edward and Bella action figures.  No news if she comes with a predict the future upgrade. NECA had her out at the 2009 toy fair.

Michael Welch in the News

Digital Backlot Magazine has a feature on everyone’s favorite human Mike Welch.  He talks about his new movie Rough Hustle in which he plays a a fast moving, womanizing, car-aholic, that “just wants to get his hustle on”.

Twilight Cast in the News

Fashion week not only had Peter Facinelli on hand to witness wife, Jennie Garth, strut her stuff on the runway, but Kellan Lutz was there too sitting with fellow 90210 castmate and New Moon hopeful Anna Lynne McCord.

Race car driver and now Sports Illustrated Suimsuit model, Danica Patrick can add her name to the long list of celebrities who fancy Robert Pattinson.

Speaking of Rob lets go through this week’s rumor mill:

  • True: Rob and Kristen will be in Japan at the end of the month promoting Twilight. One thing is guaranteed, they’ll get a warm greeting in Japan.  The Twilight was translated into Japanese back in 2005 where it caught on like wildfire. Expect the screaming to rival the LA red carpet.
  • False: Rob starring with Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway, Rob taking over Dan Radcliffe’s role on Broadway, Rob being naked on stage this year in a secret project.
  • True: Rob will be working with London based theatrical producer, David Pugh, on a still to be announced project slated for summer 2010.
  • Too early to tell: Rob at the Oscars? We know there will be more than one Twilight star there, we’re all just waiting on the details.

Twilight The Musical—A Fan Project

A bunch of fans a have gotten together for a Twilight Inspired Musical Project. So if you’re the kind of person who is or was always in your school’s musical, what have you got to lose? Check out their site and go for it!

For almost two years a dedicated team of Twilighters have been planning to create a musical based on the Twilight books. Much of that team went on to form Vampire Rock band Zenith, winners of the recent Battle of the Twilight Bands. The team has been working very hard over the past few months to make this dream a reality and we are now in a position to begin casting. We have lots of roles to fill and we only have so many band members, and we have decided that the best option is to hold a series of American-Idol-like auditions. Think “Forks Idol”.

If you are a musical Twilighter – whether you sing or play an instrument – then we want to hear from you. Fans of all ages and from all races are welcome to take part – though applicants below eighteen years of age must have parental consent. Auditions, rehearsals and performance will all take place over the Internet so there is no need to travel or to meet up with anyone you don’t know. All you need is an Internet connection, a working microphone (or web cam if you prefer) and basic recording software. We recommend Audacity which can be downloaded free of charge from SourceForge.

There will be nine rounds altogether, each singer who reaches round four is guaranteed a part and from then on we will be concentrating on assigning specific characters. Because those playing instruments will not have to be assigned a character they will only need to get through the first three rounds.

All you have to do to get involved is record yourself singing or playing a song of musical piece of your choice, save it and email it to us. Singing auditions should be sent to vocal [at] twilightmusical.com and instrumental auditions should be sent to orchestra [at] twilightmusical.com. For security reasons files that have been zipped or that have been saved in an unrecognizable format cannot be accepted. All entries must be in by the end of March 15th 2009 and those going through to the second round will be announced on March 20th.
