Five Reasons Why New Moon Will Be Better Than Twilight

The Deadbolt gives their spin on why New Moon will top Twilight. Our favorite was this one (super cool that someone has actually read the books!):

“In other words, with such a profound back-story between werewolves and vampires, New Moon will explore more while connecting on a deeper level to Bella. In many ways and aspects surrounding the Quileute Tribe and the legend, New Moon should tap into the book on better levels than that of Twilight. The legend and the expanded significance of Jacob will take fans on a darker journey while evoking more complex emotions than Twilight.”

We’re looking forward to great news from the deadbolt in coming months since they are based out of Vancouver, Canada where much of teh movie will be filmed.

Oh Canada!

Canadian fans have two things to celebrate.  First, Chapters/Indigo the booksellers are committed to midnight DVD parties for the Twilight movie. Check out if the Chapters near you is one of the participating stores. According to Chapters,

Canada’s Twilight Headquarters will host “Twilight Movie Night” starting at 9pm on Friday, March 20th, 2009 at select Indigo and Chapters stores nationally and will feature:

– in-store screenings of the movie

– trivia games, contests and prizes

– free refreshments”

Next up, Canadian music chain, Sunrise records, has a Twilight contest going. The prize is a $400 dollar Twilight gift pack including merchandise exclusive to Sunrise records and items from NECA. One of the items is a “Vampire mini kit” we’re not sure what that is, do you get your own venom booster shot? Other items include the new watches and bracelets coming out in NECA’s spring line. Check them out.

A Double Dose of MTV

MTV talked to My Chemical Romance about what movies they might consider writing music for. Unfortunately it seems like the band makes the mistake that a lot of people do and think Twilight is a typical fangs, blood, and gore vampire movie. The band is on the playlists for Twilight and Eclipse and has been a fan favorite for years.  Maybe they might want to talk to Justin of Blue October or Matthew of Muse, then they’ll get it.

MTV also has a feature, given that the Oscars are coming up, on the year 1999, which is considered a modern great year for movies, kind of the way 1939 is considered a great year for Golden Age of Hollywood movies. One of the people they interview in their 1999 retrospective is Catherine Hardwicke.

Twilight Makeover

Lexiconer Luna pointed this dress up game out to us. It’s pretty cool, not your typical dress up game. It’s a little revealing, but it’s still PG-13.

Today is Your Birthday!

There are a bunch of birthday projects in the works for various Twilight actors.

If you are a Kellan Lutz fan, than Kellan Lutz online has a project you want to look at.

If you’re a Rob Pattinson fan, and who isn’t, the folks over at Twilight Mafia have a project going.

Borders Calendar and More

Borders has been working overtime to plan out midnight release parties for the DVD.  They came to us for a little help, which of course we gave them, but we have to say their plans (to be unveiled shortly) totally rock. Seriously, we were impressed.

One of the upcoming items you can preorder from Borders either online or at the DVD party is their 18 month Twilight calendar. Borders has confirmed with us that they are the only retailer that will have an 18 month version of a calendar.

MTV Interviews NECA

NECA is one of the companies licensed to produce Twilight merchandise. We showed you the Alice action figure that they debuted at the New York Toy Fair. Well MTV has their company’s rep explaining the whole upcoming line.  There’s lots more to come!

Peter Facinelli Talks New Moon Prep!

Hey Peter, exactly what’s in that vampire oath? 🙂

In case you’re wondering where Access Hollywood caught up with Peter and Jennie, it was the 11th annual Costume designers Guild Awards. Check out the fabulous photos and write up.

Answers to the latest buzz!

Mark Malkin over at E! has confirmed that Robert Pattinson will be a presenter at this year’s Academy Awards. They’re also confirming Zach Efron. They speculate it’s to get more younger viewers to tune in. Now the question is, why isn’t E!’s Ryan Seacrest quoted about Madonna being in New Moon? Well the answer to that one is in our next story.

Entertainment Weekly has tracked down the Madonna rumor of today! It looks like Madonna’s involvement with New Moon will be limited, if at all, to the soundtrack. Thank you EW (and TY to Ana who pointed the coverage out to us!).  We know Madonna hasn’t been in the limelight as much as she has been in a couple of years, but we were really, really sure she wasn’t at the point where she was going to do Mrs. Cope, or a walk-on as a member of the Volturi coven.

Also kudos to Variety. They asked Summit directly, and they got confirmation that Madonna will not be acting in the movie.

I think the Lexicon speaks for many fans when we say that we are so tired of the wild rumors. We get it: everyone under 25 in Hollywood wants in as a vampire and every band/artist wants in on the soundtrack. Seriously guys, at this point it wouldn’t surprise us to hear that Elvis is making a comeback as Aro.

How To Be Finally Gets A Distributor!

Robert Pattinson’s How to Be, a project he completed prior to his work on Twilight, has finally gotten a distributor to pick it up in the US. The film has been doing fantastically at the film festivals, which up until now was the only way you could see it. It won over the hearts of the audience at the New Orleans Film Festival where it received the audience award. The film’s soundtrack is also to release shortly.
