Quileute Days Has Special Guest

According to their press release, the Quileute Nation will have actor Solomon Trimble on hand for the annual Quileute Days celebration.

TWILIGHT actor, Solomon Trimble, who portrayed Sam Uley in Stephenie Meyer’s mega- hit, will be the special guest of The Quileute Nation of La Push, WA during their annual Quileute Days celebration July 17-19 2009.

Solomon Trimble (Mescalero Apache, Lakota) has been a traditional Native American Grass Dancer since the age of 3.  Twilight was his cinematic debut.

He served as a cultural consultant for a few films by Oregon Public Broadcasting in association with PBS.

Stephenie Meyer’s comments about Solomon:

“It was pretty amazing. I looked up and did a double take. “Aren’t you…Sam?” I asked. Solomon laughed and agreed that he was. He had a couple of technical werewolf questions for me (ex. “Can werewolves phase underwater?” Answer: Yes) and I tried to control my enthusing. Solomon was super friendly and interesting, and though he looks awesome on film, he’s even more incredible in person. His features are just so stunning!”

Twilight fans are encouraged to attend and enjoy a photo op with Solomon Trimble on First Beach!

The Quileute Tribe extends a cordial welcome to all to join them for their celebration of cultural heritage and modern lifestyle.  Guests will enjoy a traditional Salmon bake, Quileute arts and crafts, dancing and songs, adult and youth softball tournaments, parade and a fireworks display.

  3. AlbertaJenn says:

    I’m going to miss Solomon.

  4. He seems sweet but I’m glad he did not return for the next movie. Too scrawny to be Sam.

  5. Jealous I don’t live closer to Washington, that sounds like alot of fun. That would be alittle far for a road trip! I live in mississipppi.

  6. Type-o. Stephenie’s name is spelled wrong in the ‘comments.’

  7. He makes a cool Quileute to me. I’d love to go see him in person. Very handsome!!!!!

  8. Mz.Nellz says:

Wait! i didnt kno he was sam uley. in twilight i thought he was either quil or embry. and i thought him and the other guy was gonna return in new moon and play them but i guess they got replaced. but still it never said in twilight that jacob and sam hung out. but hey im sorry he didnt make it back for the second movie.

  13. Amy Darlene says:

wow that sounds like fun. wish i could go, but it’s really really far away for me.
and i wish they kept him on for the rest of the films…even as another character(in the films they never did name him…so adding him back in for Eclipse should not be too big of a challange…after all the pack multiplies) Please Summit take my hint.

  14. arazcal says:

I’m so happy that Solomon will be the special guest of the Quiluete Nation of La Push! During what must have been a difficult time for him (the change in casting for New Moon) Solomon was a true gentleman and was extremely gracious to all the Twilight fans.I’ve said it before and will say it again, What a cool guy-I wish you continued success in all you do 😉

  15. Luthien says:

I’m glad the Quileute tribe is recognizing him; good for him! If I lived in Washington I would be there; the celebration sounds like it’s going to be great fun. I think he would have done fine as Sam, buffed up. Hope he gets more roles in other films.

  16. lirael cullen says:

Awww… Solomon! I miss him, he would have been an awesome SAM!!! Glad he’s still recognized and things like that! Hmmm, wish my aunt and uncle still lived in oregon. That’d be a nice drive.. dang. Oh well, it totally sounds like fun though!!

  17. lirael cullen says:

By the way he did say he was Apache, i didn’t think he meant Mescalero!! There’s like white mountain, jicarilla, and a whole bunch of different apache nations. Ah!!! Hahah wish i was actually going to the Mescalero Ceremony down near ruidoso this July. I was done there last year hanging with some friends, . . lol wow.

  18. Damn i wish they had kept him as Sam!!!!!!

I loved this guy, you could totally tell how much he loved this film, and loved his heritage from interviews and such. And he looked the part WAY more than this new sam did.

I’ll miss you solomon…..you’ll always be the real sam in my eyes!!!

  19. Have you seen this from the ACE OF CAKES people? An Edward and Bella cake. So cool.

  20. laaaame

  21. i don’t think he was sam, i think people have their facts wrong. I had the impression he was just there as a *la push* friend, because they never acknowledge their names, so I would say he was a walk-on, background friend, not a main character.
So yes, some people are right completley disposable.

    • No, he clearly stated that he had gotten the part of same. I believe even Catherine mentioned it a few times. He just wasn’t credited as such in the movie credits.

    • Wow. Meant part of Sam*. xD

    • vampbball says:

The character was supposed to be Sam. From Twilight, Chapter 6,

“‘Bella,’ [Lauren] called again, watching my face carefully. ‘I was just saying to Tyler that it was too bad none of the Cullens could come out today. Didn’t anyone think to invite them?’…

‘You mean Dr. Carlisle Cullen’s family?’ the tall older boy asked before I could respond…

‘Yes, do you know them?’ she asked condescendingly…

‘The Cullens don’t come here,’ he said in a tone that closed the subject, ignoring her question.

      [Bella later talking to Jacob]
‘Who was that other boy Lauren was talking to? He seemed a little old to be hanging out with us.’…

‘That’s Sam – he’s nineteen,’ he informed me.

‘What was that he was saying about the doctor’s family?’ I asked innocently.

‘The Cullens? Oh, they’re not supposed to come onto the reservation.’ He looked away, out toward James Island, as he confirmed what I’d thought I’d heard in Sam’s voice.”

  22. vampbball says:

Guys, he had ONE line in Twilight, and it came across as stiff and awkward. (I might be imagining it, but after his line, it almost seems like he looks at his friend as though to ask, “Did I do that right?”) I agree that Solomon sounds like an amazing person, and I’m glad he was involved with Twilight, but no director in his or her right mind would cast someone with such little experience in a major role for the 2nd and 3rd movies. Acting’s hard; most of us can’t do it.

  23. chelsey says:

i was able to go this year because my family lives in forks it was really fun and he is really cute in person like really Cute
