More Music News

The Texas based Bella Cullen Project band was just featured in Cosmo Girl magazine.  You can also get the band’s music from ITunes.

You can also get the Mitch Hansen Band’s Twilight themed CD, The Twilight Hour, from ITunes.

Twilight Products

The LA Times column called "Dish the Rag" has a piece about products that they think Twilight is influencing.  We think they missed the memo that Twilight fans don’t per say favor the goth look any more than they favor any other type of look.

If you are looking for more book based items there is Twilight Teez. Twilight Teez merchandise is also being used as the prizes in the contest sponsored by Pop Star. You can see some of their Fall line below.

Hot Topic just did a major advertising push on their Twilight movie apparel with promises of more in the future. If you are a member you get emails that feature a large movie graphic when new items come in.

In the News

Novel Novice has a Forks High School yearbook project going.  Check it out here. Write something to your favorite character.

The Movie Fanatic talks about the sexual appeal of the Twilight books and how that translates at the box office.

What is the next big thing? The Daily Sundial explores the idea that perhaps media/society is too quick to latch on to the idea of "The Next…" The article is now in the archives, the August 26th edition. Thanks to Chris for the heads-up

New Twilight Bands

Most regular readers of this blog probably recognize the names The Bella Cullen Project, or the Mitch Hansen Band. There are some other groups that have now gotten into Twilight inspired music.

Kat Tingley has a Twilight inspired song called Undone. You can check her out on MySpace. She also has an interview with Novel Novice.

The wizard rock band, The Bezoar Project is also experimenting with new inspiration. The band’s main thrust is Harry Potter rock, but they have done two Twilight inspired songs called Replacement and Love Song for a Vampire.

Thanks to Sanchia for following up on this story for us.

Morning News and Twilight Tuesday

MTV has information about Rob Pattinson, Kristin Stewart, and Taylor Lauter being presenters at the VMA on Sept.7.  They also speculate about the possibility for a sequel over on the MTV movies blog.   As a reminder, as of this time we have no confirmation that there will be a sequel.  We will certainly let everyone know when or if that news breaks.

New Reelz Channel Coverage

Reelz Channel has a brand new video featuring Catherine Hardwicke.  Some of the footage is from that infamous rough weather day that Catherine cited as being the worst weather filming conditions of her career.

Twilight Filming “New Scene” Next Week

Let’s Talk Numbers

3 Weeks After Breaking Dawn Made Its Debut

Amazon.com, Breaking Dawn remaining the most ordered book. The list changes hour by hour, but number one is where it seems to be staying. The other books in the saga are in the top 20.

Barnes and Noble it is in the number 4 slot with the other books in the saga in the top 10.

USA TODAY
Breaking Dawn is number one and the rest of the saga is within the top 10. The Host punches in at number 20.

Wall Street Journal
Breaking Dawn is number one and the rest of the saga is within the top 10. The Host is at number 10.

The New York Times
Breaking Dawn and the rest of the Saga is at one ( the NY Times list categorizes the books as "series books" in their children’s list). The Host is at number 6 on it’s list (categorized as hardcover fiction).

Now if you consider the fact that most die hard fans get their books within the first week, the fact that the book is still doing this well three weeks later after a set release date, is pretty impressive.

In Defense of Breaking Dawn

The Salt Lake Tribune has an article examining how Breaking Dawn has critics who at the same time call the book too racy and too tame, pushing a LDS agenda and setting a poor LDS example, and other contradictions.

You’ve heard of football widows? Well a bunch of husbands, who formed an Vampire Support group because their wives were obsessed with the Twilight Saga, have taken things a step further. They have now started a new blog to support Stephenie and the Twilight series.

Movie News

Twilight Coven Philippines is reporting that they will also get the Twilight movie on November 20th. Which we think (international fans correct us if we are wrong) would put the release roughly equal with the USA/Canada release once you take the international dateline into account.

To give an overview of release dates, that would now mean:

November 20    Philippines
November 21    USA, Canada,

December 12   South Korea, Australia
December 19   Italy
December 25   Argentina

January 1  Portugal
January 2     Sweden
January 8   Netherlands, New Zealand
January 9   United Kingdom
January 22 Germany, Switzerland (German speaking)

February 13   Finland, Norway

March 20   Venezuela

Keeping with our international theme, Peter Facinelli, Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight movie, just gave an interview to the Spanish site Crepusculo. Fortunately it’s posted in English, so you don;t have to dust off your Spanish skills to read it.

The Movie Fanatic talks about Robert Pattinson’s new film, Little Ashes. They also mention some recent economic woes.
