This movie had better be word for word and scene for scene! No more hack jobs on the books please! Stop changing the characters actions/behaviors and please be true to the story and characters!!!!!
Love your comment, now she has plenty of time to write the thing word for word. We deserve to have at least the finish of the series hold true to character. Ms R feels the need to rewrite the characters to ‘her’ liking instead of what we all know and love. Not her fan.
I thought this was a good interview with Melissa and unlike others, I have enjoyed her adapation of the books. Of course their going to be different, the books are the books and the movies are the movies. However, after hearing this I have no doubt that BD won’t be great as the books and look forward to both movies!
I can’t believe I’m admitting this but……I actually got teary-eyed listening to her talk about the wedding. I think they are gonna make sure that this final (and that’s hard to say too), movie is going to be fantastic, fabulous, awesome, sensational, in every way possible.
I believe that these last 2 movies will be better, more true to the way the characters are in the books, but it has very little to do with Melissa Rosenberg. With Stephenie Meyer a producer on these 2 and the fact that she has said she will be on the set every day, MR will not be able to rewrite the dialogue and emasculate Edward and butcher the story. So, of course, she’s singing somewhat of a different tune. Also, not a fan of MR, she ruined Eclipse for me with the way she made Bella look like she didn’t really give a big, fat rat’s behind what Edward liked or wanted. Especially unforgiveable for me is the “I am woman, hear me roar” slap in Edward’s face speech at the end which was completely opposite of what Bella felt. The only reason she ever wanted Edward to change her is so she could be with him forever. It was always all about Edward and her wanting to be with him.
Well all that sounds like good news to me, but let’s hope everyone involved in making the movie will have that same kind of passion for keeping it as true to the book as possible. I feel good about, especially since Stephenie is “officially” on the staff.
I have to say I am deeply disappointed in people who keep saying that the movies are being butchered. I think you are being very rude to all of the hard work many people, not just the actors, have put into this series. You are welcome to your opinion, and I respect that, but I think that can be very hurtful. We are all fans of the books, but I have NEVER seen one movie that has been based on a book that was absolutely true to EVERYTHING that was in that book. I think that is naive to expect that from a movie, and I saw these movies with that perspective in mind. No, they are not as great as the book, but I have found I can appreciate them separately from the books. With that in mind, I am looking forward to BD very much. After listening to what Melissa described, I do have to say that I think it might move into the R ratings…anyone agree? I think to be true to so much detail, there might be A LOT of unhappy preteens out there if it goes into that rating category. If they dont go that route, it might suffer a bit. But, then again, if I want all the gory details, I can just read the book again…for the fifth time.
Naive? I don’t think so. However, why Ms. Rosenberg’s changed the main character personality? it’s ok if they want to change or add something in the movie… but for they totally CHANGE PERSONALITY of the main character…is other story. Perhaps this is the reason SM is in the next 2 movies… thanks God 4 that!!!
I have the utmost respect and admiration for all of the cast, that is the reason I have seen Eclipse 5 times. I AM CERTAINLY NOT NAIVE. I completely get it that the movies are not going to be the books word for word. But MR makes changes that change the story to fit her philosophy of what she wants the movie to say. It is hurtful TO ME that this is done. I think we’re going to see what a great book adaptation can be when Water For Elephants comes out. It can be done and that’s what make so many of us angry. And that is why I am hopeful that BD will be better, because Stephenie Meyer will be on set every day. Go read some of the interviews that she gave to the 4 fansites, she walked out on the dailies of the scene where Bella jumps on the back of Jake’s motorcycle and rides off leaving Edward standing there looking like a fool. She also did not like the scene with Angry Edward because if Edward had grabbed Jake’s arm like that, Jake would be missing that arm. So, it’s not just some rude, mean-spirited fans who don’t like what was done in Eclipse, it’s the author herself.
Neither Breaking Dawn movie will be more than PG-13. Stephenie Meyer is a Mormon and they do not watch movies with a higher rating than PG-13. She would hardly allow her books to be made into movies neither she nor her children could go see. Having said that, an R rating is unnecessary and it won’t be necessary to have lots of gory, blood and guts and frontal nudity sex scenes. The books are pretty much PG-13, the birth scene can be filmed primarily from Bella’s perspective and Edward and Jacob’s participation can be filmed tastefully. So, the Breaking Dawn movies will be PG-13. Period. End.
i saw eclipse and was so disappointed that i am definitely not going to see BD.mellisa will definitely screw the book, edward and the script.as being an edward fan i will not see until i am satisfied by the reviews on edward
Wow. I cannot believe we have to wait a year and a half to see this movie! It is going to be incredible…wow.

Does anyone else have a problem with the video? It won’t play all the way through for me….
Best interview I’ve seen her give. She actually seemed to get it, and want to put in the details the fans want. I liked it.

I am not sure if I can bet my money on that… since I saw Eclipse… Oh well…
