Robert Pattinson: Time Magazine Influential 100

Robert Pattinson is listed in Time Magazine’s annual 100 People Who Most Influence our world. The write-up to go along with the nomination was penned by none other than Chris Weitz!

“I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I’m dead meat. That’s the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It’s certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who’d rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.”

  1. Ahhh, God bless Chris Weitz, I like him. Rob does seem the quiet, bookish type from what I’ve read about him; and it is amazing how he handles all the mania involving himself with such aplomb. Bless his heart, he can’t help that he’s so darn good looking. Makes me think of Johnny Depp a lot–but they both chose acting and the hype and fame is part of the package…and look at the $ they’ve made and will still make. It’s good Rob has a good, level head on his shoulders and is taking the ball and running with it while it’s hot, metaphorically speaking. God has blessed him with good looks and talent, and I trust he is thankful for it.

I agree with you on this comment 100%. We fans made Rob who he is even though it caught him off guard when the whole Fandom exploded in his life. I am glad he is so level headed and seems to have good family and friends to help him through it all. And even us fans are not really that hard on him ( maybe at first we were but we have seemed to calm down and mature since then..lol) ;) Love you Rob

  3. It’s a bit of fame I see him denying, but that is why he is adored so.
Along with the good looks and talent he seems to have a kind and humble heart. Chris Weitz would know just how much influence Rob has on people, besides working so closely with him, he witnessed it in Italy.
I can’t wait to see what else Rob will bring to
us in the rest of the Twilight series and any of the
other films he will be, put him in a film about
a musician and we would all be in heaven.
Rob deserves every good thing that comes his way.

  4. Aww, I love Chris. He totally gets why we adore Rob. Rob’s such a unique guy, he deserves all this praise and more! A very nice article, thanks for posting!

  5. It may have been his drop-dead gorgeousness as Edward which captivated me and many other women, young AND not-so-young but I’m fairly certain that what really pushed this whole Robsession thing is his innately gracious and charming personality, coupled with an utter lack of self-importance and the ability to laugh at himself….all traits which are immediately evident in ANY interview with him.
Plus he’s playing by his own rules and choosing terrific projects like Bel Ami and Water For Elephants….Rob will go far, mark my words!

Gotta love Chris…he so gets it! :)

  6. This is ironic…but my online radio chose a song to play while I was reading this article that just seemed to fit perfectly for him. I’m sure you will recognize it…

A decade ago, I never thought I would be at twenty three
On the verge of spontaneous combustion, woe is me
But I guess that it comes with the territory
An ominous landscape of never ending calamity.

    Ahhh…good ol’ Incubus. :-) hehe

You know he’s got to feel that way the vast majority of the time…when he is locked inside his hotel and can’t even walk down the street or go out to eat or go get a drink because some crazy fans would end up attacking him (hence…the calamity?? haha). I can’t imagine living that way…and I am so proud of him for being able to handle it the way he has. I hope he’s able to keep it up and I really hope that he doesn’t regret doing Twilight. Because the rest of us have been blessed by his decision. Can’t wait to watch him in his new films.

  8. Love the part where Chris mentioned we haven’t seen a tenth of what Robert can do onscreen. I’m just so excited for his future films :)

  9. I agree with all comments all good things said but when I see him in a interview his like not all there like he’s holding back or don’t know how to be??or how to pleas but he should know that he had us at(HELLO MY NAME IS EDWARD CULLUN)so just be!!!!!!!l LOL
