Kristen Stewart Wins BAFTA Rising Star Award

KrisBAFTA

Kristen seemed genuinely stunned and appreciative of the award thanking Twilight fans and her family.

Noel Clarke, last year’s winner who plays Mickey on Dr. Who, was able to talk to Kristen backstage after presenting her with the award. Noel was last year’s winner. Kristen, in keeping with tradition, will most likely present the award to next year’s winner.

Kristen is the first American woman to ever win the award. (Photo gallery here)Since its inception only one other American, Shia Labeouf, has ever received the award.

Congrats Kristen! She looked beautiful. Love the dress and shoes – classic and gorgeous. She seemed very humble accepting her award. I am very happy she won, she deserves this recognition. Enjoy the night, Kristen!

  6. helen says:

There’s a win that’s absolutely deserved! and contrary to what Kristen says backstage I think she needs to realise that her fans think of her much more than just for her role as Bella if anything it was her role as Bella that encouraged people to explore her whole body of work and so far, in her career, she has a lot to offer. So feel proud of what you have offered the film industry – a fresh faced young actress not all tizzy but an intelligent girl becoming woman. Your fans find you an inspiration and are so proud of you!!! Congratulations!

Now, when are we going to see your new movies down here in Australia????

  7. Twilight9009 says:

I am so happy for her! Congrats KStew! She is an amazing actress and she deserves that award! She deserves an academy award also, but for some reason America doesn’t always recognize the best talent. Unfortunately they always go with their safe favorites. But KStews time will definitely come!

  8. lilyannamarie says:

Congrats to Kristen. Please try not to drop this. It will break.

  9. Julie M. says:

Congrats to our girl! She totally deserves it. I feel so proud of her. And to be the first American Woman to win that? That is HUGE for her. And she is so humble about it. I heart KStew more and more!

  10. Twilibrarian says:

Well deserved honor for someone who is still so young. Let’s just hope the rest of Hollywood starts to recognise the talent all the Twi-Cast has and rewards them accordingly. Praise for a job well done, Kristen.

  11. Weeball says:

CONGRATS Kristen! You are fantastic and your talent definitely deserves to be acknowledged. Twilight isn’t what defines this win – us fans see you as more than just Bella. You’re a star!

  12. Harshi says:

  14. Mary says:

Looking so wonderful and feminine she really should feel more comfortable with herself…

  15. girl_ACH says:

oh my gosh, she`s crying at 1:40 and i cried with her! she`s just so down to earth, but she also critics herself a lot, even though she`s a great actress!!!!! i mean come on, when she cannot always finish her sentences, does prove that she cannot describe the characters as perfect as she can understand and play them!!!sometimes you want people to understand feelings, but how to explain them?! and who can do it that well? a few! i just love her so much…kristen i hope you read what everyone on this page wrote and be more comfortable with yourself, we love you!

    • Mel says:

I’m wondering if sometimes she can’t finish her sentences because she is constantly thinking, and the thoughts interrupt what she was going to say. She seems to be editing herself as she goes along sometimes.

Kind of the opposite of Rob, who never edits anything he says!

    • Lily says:

It would be a good thing if she learned to handle media better. The comments of the European broadcasters are not favorable. The most neutral one was: “her usual unsure self”, others said “she looked bored receiving the award” and so on. The media has nothing to say about her acting. As much as I sympathize for just wanting to do your job and keep your private life to yourself in the long run her behavior might hurt her. A director might cast her for her talent but the studio wants money out of the movie and part of this is a cast who helps to promote it.

  16. caley says:

Congrats Kristen!!! You are so amazing and you deserved this award. You looked so beautiful!!!

  17. Amy S says:

She never ceases to “wow” me…. She is such a doll. I am just so proud of her, and happy that others see in her acting what we see in her acting.

  18. oleander says:

Rob needs to teach her the fine art of self-deprication because she doesn’t handle it well. Her speech came off as rushed and insincere, and we all know she’s capable of so much better.

I’m glad that the previous BAFTA winner said what he did, because she is SO MUCH MORE than Twilight; she is a great actress, and the fact that this is a fan-voted award does not negate the fact that she is a good actress. By lookint at it as such is almost an insult to all who voted for her.

It must be hard to be in her shoes, and the only reason I would ever want to be is to get a chance to play tonsil hockey with Rob. *oh, did I say that out loud?*

  19. Sara says:

CONGRATS Kristen!!! You’re such a great artist. Believe it. It’s not just Twilight. It’s about YOU. It most be such an overpowering thing to have Twilight on you, but you are raising as a new talented and bright start. Believe in yourself, your fans believe in you. :)

  20. Maelina says:

Congrats Kristen! :) I’m so glad she won the award, she totally deserves it. I can understand why Kristen might feel that she got it just because the Twilight fans voted. But as Noel said, she was picked by the industry people first, so she should be proud to receive the award. By the way, I’m a huge Doctor Who fan as well so it’s amazing to see my two favourite franchises connect. I adore Noel! :)

  21. vampbball says:

I didn’t even know she was nominated for a BAFTA, much less won one! Yay, Kristen! Well done.

  22. safina says:

Congratulations Kristen! You completely deserved it! And it’s not just because of Twilight. You are truly a great actress. I’m really happy for you!

  23. Chernaudi says:

Just to respond to a few comments. Everyone knows who Kristen is because of Twilight, and I know that some people have a hard time seeing past that(internet trolls, those who say she’s ugly or stupid, people who have nothing better to do than put her down for whatever moronic reason). Twilight has been a double edged sword-her fandom and people interested in her and her work has grown immensly, but the tabloid cretins don’t know when to back off. And sadly, Twilight is all that some know her for and don’t care about her other works.

She’s awkward when it comes to interviews, but Kristen herself has said that she’s not the best at self evalutation and condensing her feelings and thoughts into 5 second soundbites. I say just be glad that she sometimes says anything at all, because sometimes, she does seem overwhelmed by it all with the fame.

And with some of the British press criticizing her interviewing, maybe they should have a run-in with one Jeremy Clarkson, who is an automotive journalist mostly known for being a host and producer of Top Gear and a writer for The Sunday Times and The Sun. I’ll bet that even Jeremy, with his brash tounge in cheek style, would give Miss Stewart the benefit of the doutbt. And let’s not forget where most Americans are partly ancestored from-England. Commonality with humor, commonality with thoughts. Some people, regardless of nationality, don’t get it with Kristen, and they ought to try and give her a break, as they’re asking a lot of a 19 year old who really didn’t expect all of this, bad of good.

However, it’s about time that some out there are giving Kristen Stewart some respect and admiration, and it’s well deserved for someone who never asked for it and would be just as well in her mind without it, as well as provided some entertainment for us and is kind and generous to friends, fans, and people at large and has never asked to be thanked.
