I would love for that scene with Edward & Bella to make it in the movie Eclipse!
We know Melissa can write screenplays, it was Catherine that messed up the first Twilight. Lets get going on Breaking Dawn girl!! Summit has definitely got the money now!!!!
Melissa Rosenburg was the one who gave the horrible script to Catherine, who then ruined it even more.
Melissa Rosenburg sounds like a man. LOL.
I really hated the script for Twilight. So much randomness and horrible transition, added with Catherine’s inability to direct, plus Kristen’s inablity to act.
New Moon was a lot better, and that’s thanks to Chris
He needs to re-do Twilight. David Slade…I’m not sure what he’s done, but the photos he’s given us look good. I’m putting my faith in him like I did with Chris. But if they don’t have the line about Switzerland, I’m gonna go start a riot. -_- I’m already upset they cut Ben Cheney out and have Angela with Eric, plus other random little things that bug me (like Jasper’s hair?! Supposed to be long and not short/curly -_-) I’m going to stop rambling now.
Agree with you totally!
It’s so weird right now, with New Moon and Eclipse so close, that I’m dying to see New Moon again for the 5th time, AND want to start hearing all kinds of news and see clips, etc., about upcoming Eclipse! It’s such a delicious Twi-overload-gasm
“It’s such a delicious Twi-overload-gasm” OMG! I love it!!!!!!!!! I’m right there with you.
Melissa Rosenberg is terrible and should be ashamed for cheating Bella and Edward fans out of powerful and emotional reunion scenes in New Moon! She also totally eliminated important dialogue in the bedroom scene after the return from Italy. She rushed and cut the scenes so badly and I feel betrayed by this horrible woman! She and the studio promised Edward and Bella fans we’d be pleased with the reunion but they lied!!!!
I hardly think it makes her a horrbile person. But I did wish we got more of their reunion.
She did cheat us out of the reunion, and to me, that was what the whole point of the book lead to…
I feel like they lied horribly too, that reunion sucked. That may sound melodramatic but its how I feel.
Melissa Rosenberg is AWFUL. She’s this absurd writer who can’t seem to string together a decent dialogue, DESPITE it being RIGHT THERE IN MEYER’S PAGES, and has this delusional idea of what the saga should be. I’ve never been more disappointed. And now I hear she’s writing the script for Breaking Dawn, which is going to be the cheesiest, most ridiculous-sounding thing anyone’s ever seen because she can’t make anything seem organic and real. She has no understanding of the character development in the books, nor is she able to convey the intensity of Edward and Bella’s relationship without coming off as completely cheesy and elementary. She should have been fired long ago, and upon reading the early script for Eclipse, it’s clear that the 3rd movie is going to be just as bad. Why these people don’t use a panel of professional, die-hard fans to edit this piece of crap is beyond me.
So it sounds like Eclipse is going to be backstories and new born fighing. Well, that’s just great. I have to stop listening to this stuff, because I have such little faith in David Slade and Melissa that I think Eclipse is going to be a total flop…I want Chris for BD… New Moon was done beautifully!!!
I loved New Moon, it was very close to the book, but I agree that they cut out too much of Edward and Bella just like they did in Twilight. Who knows who is responsible for that, but I would like to see more of ‘them’ after all it is their love and devotion to each other that made these books what they are.
But, I still LOVED New Moon, it was fantastic!
I agree…I would love to see/hear more dialog from Edward and Bella. Their romance is what draws us to the books. I feel the film makers think they need to widen the fan base by adding action and other characters, which maybe true, but at the expence of depicting the love story between E/B. The one thing missing for me from New Moon is that conversation in Bella’s bedroom upon returning from Italy.
I would have loved to see edward carrying bella while charlie berates them. But it’s all good to me. Love the editing!!!! Flawless
If they completely stuck with the main story of the book then why make the movie? *sighs* damned if you do, damned if you don’t…the story of twilight lol
What exciting information!
Riley:
New Moon was a two hour movie, whether you agree with that decision or not. You clearly have an abysmal amount of knowledge where making a film is concerned, because certain cuts for prose have to be made. As an adaptation, New Moon was as faithful as you could possibly be for a two hour film.
Sillygirl:
David Slade is one of my favorite directors, so I have complete faith in him. 30 Days of Night is one of my favorite modern vampire films, so I have to strongly, strongly disagree with you. You made your own conclusion about what Eclipse will be about. They did not say “newborns and fighting”. In fact, the three main actors have been talking about the intensified love triangle quite a bit.
Second that.
Yes Matt, the actors have been talking about that, they have also been talking about how much more action Eclipse has then the other the movies. The book has action but it is not necessarily the focal point. I just don’t want the feeling to get lost. I’m not saying David is a bad director…on the contrary, I’m just not sure he is right for this series, while he has loads of experience with action films, what will he do with the romantic tone of this book/movie. I liked Chris’s Classic feel to New Moon. And who knows, maybe I will be pleasntly surprised, I just have yet to read anything to make me feel as such.
Also, Riley:
It doesn’t only come down to the screenwriter when cuts have to be made. Then again, I didn’t think that you understand how these things work in the first place…
Exactly, the screenwriter does the writing. The EDITORS and directors cut the film. Its not her fault, she might have included those things. Like in Twilight she did leave in that Bella could cook, the editors cut it out to make the movie flow. There are probably so many things cut we dont know about!
Also:
I encourage you to follow Slade on Twitter. That man knows how to perfectly frame a shot. He has directed the music videos for some of Stephenie’s favorite bands, too. He’s an amazing visual stylist, and he has experience with vampires, too. Slade even got Peter Murphy to cameo in Eclipse as a vampire. How awesome is that?
I missed the line Edward had in Italy about “the blackest form of blasphemy”. I think their reunion was lackluster at best. I’m sorry…I know this was Jacob’s time to shine, but they left me high and dry with the nonexistent passion of Bella and Edward. They could have extended the film another twenty minutes and beefed up the intimate scenes between B & E in Italy, the bedroom afterwards, and the end.
Chris’ first cut of the movie was over three hours long, so I’m sure the full reunion would have been filmed. Hopefully he will include all the extra footage on the DVD extras. Fingers crossed!!
Blasphemy has a religous connotation and maybe they thought we wouldn’t know the meaning of the word!
It was the perfect way to express what he did to her. I remember reading that the first time and the impact of it.
I completely agree, there was not enough development between edward and bella in new moon. Only in the school parking lot did they seem in love…I hope there will be more in the cut scenes…
I was hoping that line would be in there, or something similar, but it wasnt. It is my all time favorite quote from the series. I too wish there was a bit more Bella and Edward reunion but overally really liked New Moon and am VERY excited to see Eclipse.
I would love to see the flashback or sorts that melissa talked about of E & B back in Edward’s time down on one knee!!
Let the countdown for Eclipse begin!
Can’t they just stick to the book!!!The main story!!!
Summit should now double the stars’ paycheck right?
I hope we have more time between Edward and Bella in Eclipse and that they don’t cut out most of it in order to add in the action scenes.
Please let that scene make it in! I love that scene. I still feel a bit hesitant about eclipse. Can David Slade effectiviely communicate Bella and Edwards relationship?or has eclipse just turned into one big fight scene? because in cast interviews all as you ever hear anyone talk about is the newborn vamp fight scene and sorry but Eclipse has way more going for it than one monodimensional scene.
aaahh feel better now that I have got that off my chest!!
I was so disappointed with New Moon. I waited for over twelve hours and I got that load of crap.
The scripts in both Twilight and New Moon were horrible. I really want to start a petition to get Melissa Rosenberg removed. I’m sorry, she’s a television writer who’s bitten off more than she can chew.
AMEN. The problem is that she just doesn’t get it. And the most dangerous part about it is that she doesn’t know that she doesn’t get it. I’m really upset with her for destroying these stories, but I’m even more upset with Stephenie Meyer for letting her. She’s a decent writer; she should have been able to look at these scripts and know that it wasn’t going to be a high-quality story. And why in God’s name would Edward ever say, “spidermonkey”? Don’t you know your own character, Stephenie? I cringed from the awkwardness in Twilight. New Moon was only somewhat better, but that was thanks to Chris, not because of Melissa, who should have been axed right along with Catherine. It all just makes me sick.
