The LA Times covers how things got a bit out-of-hand at Robert Pattinson’s movie shoot in New York City. Rob is in town filming Remember Me.

Man… I actually feel for any production that stars Rob right now… so much more to deal with… it’s sort of a nightmare! (Of course, if I had been in NY…I’d have been there trying to catch a glimpse!)
poor Robert.Always experiencing tug of wars with his fans and paparazzis. Can he still act his role with all the crazy and adorable people around him? Mmmm. I know he will for his inspiration will always be there for him, East to West coast of US. Love that expression. More power Robsten!!!
jeeeezzz….. I feel so sorry for Robert at times like this… he’s not a standout actor (and he knows it) but he seems like a cool guy, one you could easily be friends with….. Which just makes it all the worst that these supposed “fangirls” feel comfortable raping his personal space everytime he attempts to go out in public. It won’t suprise me if one day he decides he has had enough and chucks a rightfully deserved agro at the lot of them… then they will probably be the ones complaining that he’s horrible to his fans….
Personally, at this point, I, along with the majority of the sane Twilight community, give Robert free reign to take a swing at the lot of them…. he’s showing far more restraint than i ever would….

I agree with you 100%. that is absolutely insane. What do they expect him to do? Invite them to his trailer? Pretty sure he’s more intelligent than to let the crazies in. Go ahead and convince yourselves that what you are doing is perfectly normal, and that Rob should just deal with this. Bottom line: it’s just plain wrong.

If anyone saw the video of him walking to his trailer on TMZ, it’s absolutely disgusting. Groups of female fans are following him and even attack him, jumping on his neck (weak security). It’s horrifying, and Rob isn’t happpy or angry – he just looks scared. Just because you’re a fan, it doesn’t give you the right to attack someone like that. I wonder who these girls are and if they have any shame whatsoever. He is a human being, and I really wish that they just stop following him altogether. I know that’s ridiculous to say, but I really feel out of all the celebrities in Hollywood who get followed non-stop, Rob shouldn’t be one of them. He doesn’t seek out the attention of photographers, he’s just walking down streets. It’s all rather boring, but he’s big right now, and so he has to be photographed everyday. It’s a shame and I feel bad for Rob (and normally I don’t care about how celebrities feel when the paparazzi or fans are following them. That video was just appalling).
I couldn’t agree with you more. Those girls looked really stupid. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, the line between REALITY and FANTASY is so blurry right now with these people, that it’s all coming across as pathetic and psychotic.
I agree with you, initially I always thought that twilight fans were intelligent and thoughtful people. As the series gained more popularity, fans started to take ownership of the characters and then the actors portraying them. As you said there is such a blurring of the line between reality and fantasy, it’s now becoming insane. I feel so bad for the poor guy.

I agree with all that is said …Poor rob hes a 23 year old guy.All these young teens are chasing him around and they need to chillax.Show the man some respect and be polite he is working and its just rude.I think the media and the fans should just leave him alone. Me and my sister always joke that at the end of the twilight saga movies hes gonna come out and look like johnny deeps character in SWEENEY TODD!! Hes just a person like the rest of us and should not have to live his life like this…

I just saw him this morning! I’m a student worker in the area where he is filming and the security allowed people who were waiting to pass as they changed the background. They even allowed us to take photographs. When I saw him he was indoors (the 1st floor has huge glass windows), so hopefully today he won’t be harassed the same way.
this is what i always think whenever I see people like that: celebrities are just normal people, leave them alone.

Honestly if I would have the chance to meet him one day…I would go against the grain and say no! Just because I know he is sick of all these “fan” encounters…it’s too bad when they act like that…this is not a way to show you appreciate him…by invading his private space! I feel SO badly for him. I saw those pictures and I wanted to cry. He seems like he tries so hard to be cool and friendly but people just take advantage. My heart literally broke when I saw the frenzy around him. They did the Vanity Fair photo shoot literally 5 minutes from my house. The entire cast of Twilight just minutes from me of a country road (no one in sight) and we didn’t go. Wanted to, but didn’t.
I live in So. Cal and there is filming around us constantly and people just leave the stars be. I realize this is Rob were talking about and people want to see him but still…leave the poor guy alone.
Seriously PEOPLE, what do you want? he’s working, give him space or he’s just going to leave the States…for good. Really, who needs this craziness, it’s practically dangerous to have someone hanging on to you without your consent. I hear “it’s part of the job”, but stars have their own rights too. Holy Crap Batman!! just watched the video and then showed my husband. We have come to the conclusion that the secruity detail need replacing, the didnt assess the situation and they didnt guard their mark (pattinson) they were just laughing thinking this was a joke, and the chap in the grey top and white trousers needs to pay attention more he let those girls go right past him and pattinson got attacked now it may have been a kiss on the cheek but what if it had been something else like a knife.
both me and my husband work in security and have done for many years and that entourage was the pitts. robert should complain but we all know he wont .. that situation could have easily gone out of hand poor form.. now ive worked for some shit firms but even they could have done better! no joke

Like all of you I’m horrified by what happen to him yesterday …I feel so bad for the poor guy ..there is a very fine line between admiration and lunacy and we all must not cross it, give him his space ..The man is working just like all of us he has a job to do , and don’t we enjoy him on the movies ? how is he suppose to do them?? anyway I just hope that everyone gets a conscience about this and leave him be ..

I know, right! A friend sent me a pic that she thought I’d like, and he was smiling. So she sent me a link to the story. I was really disappointed. If I were ever to randomly meet Rob Pattinson somewhere, the nicest thing I could do would be smile and walk away. Sad, sad, sad.

I was actually there for this. It was completely unintentional as I’m an NYU student and was sitting in the park reading a book for class.
All of a sudden I heard screaming and people running. It was so pathetic. I talked to one girl who was working on the set and she said quote on quote” Its too dangerous right now for him to be on the street so we are moving in doors” so they took over the silver building.
What really bothered me as I walked to class was seeing about 50 people on each side of his trailer during what I’m guessing was a lunch break, screaming and taunting him to come out and sign stuff.
I really wish they would give him some personal room. He is after all, just human.
That’s just so horrible to hear. He can’t even have any peace in his trailer.
Summit ought to be smacked for allowing such an incompetent security detail around its biggest moneymaker! Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart do not deserve these attacks and harrassment. There are always people with ugly personalities. They will cluster around such as the Twilight actors. It is SUMMIT’S job to make sure its employees are protected from such people. And Summit cannot pretend that this terrible event is a surprise… just look at what happened at last year’s Comic Con, and in Italy and Vancouver.
I love how you blame Summit for everything, and act like the crazy fans had nothing to do with this. These are not children they are teenagers, some of them college students and therefore they should be held accountable for their actions and they should know better. Yes, Summit did drop the ball protection wise or better yet it was his bodyguard that did, but you can’t blame them for fan reactions. How were they supposed to know how many people would show on the set. New York is a big city, there are movies shot here all the time without people knowing where the sets are. They weren’t the ones that released set locations, you can blame the stalkerazzi and gossip columnist for that. In addition these are male bodyguards dealing with females mostly teenagers, how much do you want to bet if they showed the full extent of their force they would be a couple of law suits.
And by the way it’s not only Summit that can supply Rob with protection, his agent and manager can get bodyguards for him as well, actually they are the main ones that should be doing it.
We can argue blame all we want. It’s really about personal responsibility. His next movie could be in any of our back yards. How are we going to conduct ourselves? Maybe with a modicum of common courtesy and decency. That’s a start.

I can see your point about the ‘fans.’ However, it seems that since thugs exist, it is best to make sure they do no harm. Summit is one of the stakeholders here, since it is in its interest that the movie be completed with its star physically intact.
As to Pattinson’s agent: my impression is that Pattinson is an affable man, trying to be pleasant to everyone around him. Which is where the agent should enter the picture, with an efficient, effective and tough security regime, ensuring that Pattinson is protected from the New York thugs.
This is crazy! I’m a huge fan and I go to school in downtown manhattan and I didn’t know about this. I heard he’s in NYC but I didn’t stalk where he’s going to be. So these fans must of been truly crazy and obssessd. Do they think he’s the Real Edward ?! Haha
Summit Entertainment ought to be reminded that part of their job is to provide actual security for their employees. There is not excuse for that physical attack on Robert Pattinson, and none of it is amusing. So, I telephoned the production office of Summit to register my complaint. I was not impolite, but I do think they should consider their responsibility in all this. Their phone number is 310 309 8400.
Also, I think Rob Pattinson’s agent should be taken to the cleaners, too. Rob’s job is to act, not to worry about impending physical attacks by ‘fans.’ The agent should be taking care of – at least – his well being.
I am surprised that a phalanx of lawyers has not rolled in on this.
It seems like this is all for publicity – for free and at the expense of the actors. Great way for execs to promote this upcoming movie. Rob is not the best actor, readily admitted by him but they release the set locations causing a frenzy in hopes of this movie becoming a blockbuster like Twilight. By the way, that is not a very good pic of Rob. He usually photographs much better.
That was not publicity, it WAS real life. And like I said before Summit did not release the set location. I live in NYC, it’s a big city, so saying that you’re shooting a movie in NYC doesn’t disclose set location.
You couldn’t pay me enough to be him. That scene was just outrageous. Amazing no-one was shuffled into a street and hit by oncoming traffic (hint for next time, perhaps??). Rob’s personal safety has got to come first. But other considerations have to be for the safety of the (idiotic, irresponsible) fans themselves and the general populace. Such chaos WILL end in tragedy. And then where will be? I would probably lose the ability to speak if ever within 20ft of the glorious Mr P but one day I might like the chance to have the slightest hope of a vague opportunity to do just that. But if this sort of thing happens too frequently, shy, inoffensive reluctant hero Rob is going to become reclusive Rob. And bald. How much love do you reckon he’ll have for us, the fans, in the future if such rabid, disrespectful encounters continue???? I’m thinking NOT MUCH. And that would be a shame.
I agree with you 100 percent. These fans must learn that this is Rob Pattinson, 23 year-old HUMAN, with real issues and insecurities, and not Edward Cullen, 100 year-old vampire, who is virtually indestructable. He’s not always one specific character in real life. He’s a person.

Everybody just needs to get a grip on reality – let him have some privacy. But here’s an observation on the photo that’s posted with this article…Rob needs to get some sleep and take better care of his skin. He has more wrinkles around his eyes than I do. And…I’m MUCH older than him!
That’s the exact same comment I made of his pics from Cannes. The lines and bags around his eyes were worse than mine and that’s hard to imagine considering I’m 14 years older, single mum and a night shift worker. He needs a long break, me thinks.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the girls say they ‘love’ him. Then they should know that love comes with respect. How would they like it if some random guy tried to hug one of them or give them a kiss? They’d probably beat their butts down to the ground.

Yeah, sure you admire him, you appreciate him, you think he is a great person, of course you are attracted to him because he is hot, but you do not love him! My friend’s brother was on the set because he’s a production assistant. He came home from NYC, and says to her “Can you tell me why a thousand girls were screaming when I was standing next to Robert Pattinson?”
She said she died when she heard the story, and yesterday I got to talk to him about it. He said it was crazy how many people were there, but he actually got to have a normal conversation with Rob. He said he’s a normal guy and he’s very nice. I think you know how jealous we all are of her brother.
I was there! my grandparent’s apartment is on the same block and I was visiting them that week! I didn’t see him though. Every once in a while we would hear screams coming from the street and I’d poke my head out the window to try to see what was going on.
