MTV what the Lexicon has known for weeks, was specifically asked NOT to mention, and was supposed to be a surprise for the fans when the movie came out. Stephenie filmed a cameo in the Twilight movie.
EDIT: The article does tell about the scene Stephenie appears in. Be aware in case you don’t want to be spoiled
Don’t forget about the other big items today. Let Oprah hear your opinion.
Vote for Stephenie in the Time Magazine Newsmakers
EDITED: Ok, here’s the deal, in light of what MTV was told, which differs greatly from what I was told by official sources, that Stephenie wanted to break this news herself, I have edited this post to say to remove the word "leaked". However, let’s just say there’s been a lot of communication back and forth behind the scenes here and I am not the only one who was majorly surprised, caught 100% off-guard this morning, when I contacted my sources to say "what gives?"

Now it’s driving me CRAZY I want to see the movie so bad! HMMM… what would that dinner thing be about?
Stephenie should have been aware this was going to get out quickly and should have posted it on her website asap. Hindsight is 20/20. I know I’ll catch a ton of heat for saying this, but it seems this site comes across as having an attitude that’s a bit entitled. Like they’ve cornered the market on all things Twilight. We all get loud and clear that there’s a close & personal relationship with Stephenie, and therefore get the info straight from the source. We appreciate you keeping her “secrets”, but seem somewhat smug in having said knowledge. I know I am in the extreme minority here, just sharing my thoughts….
Sorry, I meant Diner!
ahahahaha Kim. I totally agree. but not as strong……..almost though, almost. well yeah, not much of a difference. but i don’t think it was right of the lexicon to write about MTV, that wasn’t any of their business and what got to me the most was
MTV what the Lexicon has known for weeks, was specifically asked NOT to mention,
“known for weeks” and we were supposed to know ’bout this when the movie came out. seriously!!! you’re kidding me.
and i doubt that i would have spotted stephenie anyways cause i would be too busy looking at the cast and watching that i’d miss her. i am glad this got out
I don’t like MTV anyways so this is just another black mark for them in my book. Stephenie should have been the one too announce this not MTV. I do think it’s really cool that she making a camoe in the movie, can’t wait to see it.
Call me crazy but isn’t it a good thing that MTV reported this news (whether they were allowed to or not)? Seeing Stephenie have a cameo isn’t anything that is really pivotal for the plot. I don’t ever hear anybody complaining about when they report interviews from the cast who do leak spoilers themselves (i.e. Kristin talking about the treetops). I thank MTV for reporting this information and all of their other reports and interviews. Also, according to the reporter that leaked the news, he was given permission.
Now we all know what happens when you all start talking about the errors of the legendary lexicon….yep the comments get shut down….better watch it people the might Pel is gonna lock things up!!!
ROFLMAO
Yeah, people should be thanking MTV in the first place for spreading the word (whether they are big fans or not) so that the movie could be turned into a bigger success. This is all media hype which will be a positive thing for the success of the movie. So thank you MTV!
Breel – I agree totally. It has always really irked me that a lot of websites seem to rub it in when they have information that they can’t share ie. “we have more pics and news coming but can’t share it yet.” That has always rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t think this is quite as big of a deal as some people are making it into. I only feel bad for the people who are trying to avoid movie spoilers and were thus spoiled by this no matter what website they saw it on.
BReel I think you hit it on the mark. And your opinions are not the minority, in the real world. If the Lex hadn’t planted thoughts into impressionable minds, we would all be delighted at this news, bottom line.
MTV might not have even known it was supposed to be a secret. Summit certainly wasn’t treating it as a secret, and that is not the fault of MTV.
Ugliness ensues!
This isn’t a matter of who had more information then who. This is a matter of knowing that Stephenie wanted to share the news herself. I think you can understand having some exciting news to share and then someone sharing your news for you. Its disappointing. No matter what the source.
We have in no way encouraged anyone to “bash” MTV. Everyone has their right to an opinion on the matter. I only hope this can be resolved without any more issue. Unforunity Stephenie’s oppurtunity to suprise her fans, whom she loves, is now gone. Maybe she will get joy in telling us the details anyway.
I think that Breel has a point. I thank the Lexicon for all their news, hard work, and dedication. But it seems a little weird for them to act a little smug about it. Just report that MTV "leaked" it but don’t make it where they are in the wrong. It’s not use to point the finger until you actually know the real facts.
Aww…I agree with some other posts…if this story wasn’t posted on here then I wouldn’t have even known. The only sites I go to are SM.com and the Lexicon. That sure is a bummer, I would’ve rather heard it first from Stephenie, oh well. That’s so freaking exciting that she makes a cameo
whatever. it was leaked big deal.
I am a huge Twilight fan, but I doubt I would be in the theatre and go, oh look there’s Stephenie Meyer.
it’s not like everyone knows what she looks like.
and I agree with BReel.
all movie cameos have gotten leaked countless times from many other movies. so what makes this any different.
That is awesome!
This is kind of sad. All the fighting I mean
It’s okay everybody just relax! We’re not going to be mad at the Lexicon, MTV, or (especially) a each other!! The Twilight fandom has to stay united AND calm or else no one will pay attention to us anymore. If we keep fighting with each other instead of being something positive, Steph’s fandom will turn into something crazy that people will start to tune out or frown upon. We don’t want that we want people to know we’re here and we want them to join us. Us fans have to remember that the reason we’re making ourselves known is so that Stephenie, her books, and the movie(s?) will be a big success and to spread the joy we found in discovering this series with others. So yeah, maybe it’s a bummer Steph didn’t get to tell us, maybe some people think it’s not. It doesn’t matter it’s out, lets all move on and keep working towards making this HUGE
!!! (I hope I don’t sound mean or rude in this or anything I just want us all to be nice to each other. It sounds lame, but it’s true! I like talking about the books and stuff with all of the other fans around the world and it sucks when we’re fighting.)
Okay that’s my uber long “Why can’t we be friends?” schpeel.
Omg!! the offical twilight movie site is up!! it takes forever to load so dont be impatiant if you come up with a black screen…….*wink wink*
http://www.twilightthemovie.com
Haha Heart3bbroken lol the movie site has been up for a while.
Woah!
Take a chill pill people!
We all need to relax and enjoy the news. Not point fingers, not try and be so mad about it, not throwing MTV or The Lex under the bus. I admit it would’ve been an awesome surprise. I probably would’ve knocked someone out having seen her whether it be surprise or not.
Like ashley said, it’s happened before.
In my opinion, I don’t think it was needed to put blame on Lexicon on this matter.
What they were told was that Stephenie wanted to announce this herself. Of course Summit and others wouldn’t know that. It’s just unfortunate MTV beat her to it. The fact is Lexicon wanted to respect Stephenie, the author, on her wishes. Can you blame them for wanting to keep that respect? What I got from this wasn’t that they were being smug about knowing information. They knew Stephenie wanted to keep her movie cameo a secret until she said it herself. Just because all movie cameos have been leaked before doesn’t mean people should automatically think this one isn’t any different. To some, this is different. And to some, it matters.
Same thing goes in regards to Twilight Moms Insiders. They know a heck of a lot more on what’s going on than what they’re telling us NOW. If they were informed that Stephenie wanted to announce this herself, they would have kept it to themselves until it happened. If they were leaked it would have been the same thing. They would also have said “What gives?â€
I am not in any way bashing Twilight Moms but they would apply since they’re also “in the knowâ€.
Quite frankly I respect both Lexicon and Twilight Moms for knowing things and keeping things from us. There’s a matter of trust given to both sites and we shouldn’t get mad at them for wanting to keep that trust.
I understand you didn’t instruct anyone to BASH MTV but you did your best in the original post to make it sound like they had done something terribly wrong. If they had, their story would have been pulled down or edited. But it wasn’t. I think you ladies here need to be responsible in how you post your information and the fact that you had to edit your posting and MTV didn’t, tells me as a reader… MTV was not doing anything underhanded as you led your members to believe.
That is the point…. and again it’s a situation you created not MTV.
Just in case this was not clear. This was not a story the Lexicon was going to break..EVER. It was a story that Stephenie was going to break, Stephenie lost out, not us.
oh sorry…….i’m pretty slow huh…..
i was talking about the cover
heart2bbroken:
Thats not the official cover. Thats a fan made one thats been on the net for awhile.
Amen Chela! We all just need to relax and stop placing blame and negative thoughts on mtv and the lexicon. The people who run this site not only do a good job with keeping all of us fans up to date with the info we all crave but they are respectful of the wishes of those they get their info from. If they weren’t we probably wouldn’t get as much information. I also just have to say that even if the lex didn’t post anything about the mtv thing somebody would have inevitably posted something about it in a link…the lexicon was just probably taking preemptive measures.
twilight moms has pictures of Charlies house.
Can we all just stop drinking the hater-aide for awhile?! Whether you’re upset with the lexicon, or upset with MTV, just stop! We don’t know the full story from both sides. This is all just ‘he said, she said’ right now. Lets be excited about what was actually written in the article! STEPHENIE IS IN THE MOVIE! YAY! End of story. I know it sucks that Stephenie didn’t get to announce it herself but there’s not anything we can do about it now. Lets all stop being so bratty to each other and the sites.
Our fandom already seems to have a problem being seen as immature and all of this bickering does nothing but support that belief. Don’t let this get in the way of our enjoyment of these books and our excitement for the film! A break in the fandom over these sort of things make me sad.
There’s nothing you can do now. It’s out already.
Can Meyer sue, though? I mean, MTV didn’t have the permission…
Thank you Anna.
uh… its ok guyz…
no need to freak… yay stephenie… and lexicon- i wouldnt have known about it if you hadnt put it on the site.
but… i dont really care that ya did i just thought it was a little funny that you worked so hard to “keep it secret” but then you inform us all its mtv’s fault i know now (when i know because of the info found on your site) ?… hmm… thats a little funny…
KOOOLLLLLL, i sort of guessed she was going to have a cameo, but i wasn’t sure. GEE THANKS MTV. you had to ruin a good surprise now didn’t you. not fair to stephenie.
wats a cameo?
There is no legal justification for a lawsuit. She was seen by many people on the set and filming out in public. As long as MTV never signed a contract with Summit about releasing information seen on the set there is no issue and if so it would be a legal matter between Summit not Meyers.
Let’s face it: It’s too bad that Stephenie couldn’t tell us all herself…but think about how much more exciting everything is that she tells us herself.
I mean, anything that she writes to us is like a new creation in itself!
I am just super excited that this movie seems to be getting better and better!
All that matters is that we continue to show support for Stephenie and her works! So let’s all calm down, read chapter 13 of Twilight again, and be happy!
thats what america needs– more lawsuits and sueing- does anyone else have a problem with that… life will go on having this “secret” out!!!!!people dont need to be sued. how the snot do you spell that??!!?
I must say that I agree with that fact that it’s a shame that Stephenie didn’t get to share this news herself.
But at the same time, based on the response from the writer of the article, I can understand why MTV did share the news.
It seems to me that they didn’t exactly know that this was supposed to be a secret.
Apparently they interviewed people on the set and those people openly shared the information.
As a reporter, once you are told something big like that OPENLY, your first instinct is to probably write an article about it.
Why would you contact the author of the books to ask for permission to say this information without any reasoning to believe that it was meant to be a secret?
And obviously the person interviewed wasn’t aware of this, either, because if they were then they wouldn’t have said anything.
This whole thing, to mean, seems to be one huge misunderstanding of motives.
MTV interviewed someone on the set.
That someone, not knowing that it was supposed to be a secret, told MTV about Stephenie’s cameo.
MTV, also not knowing that it was supposed to be a secret, wrote an article about the cameo.
Turns out that Stephenie wanted to announce this news herself.
If anything, to truly prevent this from happening, the entire cast and crew should have been told ahead of time to not say anything about this news until Stephenie announced it herself.
Obviously that was not done.
Closing the set wouldn’t have been anything to clue the interviewee of any surprise in the making because it wouldn’t have been the first time sets were closed.
Point being:
I feel sorry for Stephenie’s inability to share this news as a surprise.
But I don’t think anyone shared this information with malicious intent.
MTV is just sour because they lost the script this is why they feel the need to report on Twilight every 2 seconds…it’s pathetic…
I think it is horrible that MTV leaked that news! Stephenie obviously wanted to announce this herself, and surprise her huge fan base. MTV was horrible to announce this, and many, many fans would have loved to be surprised.
It is wonderful news of course, but MTV was wrong! I am really, really mad at MTV right now, and they have done a very wrong deed.
I of course love the fact Stephenie is mentioned, and that the movie will turn out wonderful! But MTV should be huddling in a corner of shame.
I wish Stephenie got to say it and that MTV didn’t “steal her thunder” as Pel said. But it’s done and over with and we would have found out eventually anyway.
Either way, it’s cool that she’s going to be in it and I’m going to be scoping the crowd through that scene.
My guess for Stephenie’s cameo scene is…
THE WAITRESS AT THE RESTAURANT IN THE PORT ANGELES SCENE!
I don’t understand why the Lexicon felt the need to get involved in the first place. This is clearly something that is between MTV, Summit and Stephenie Meyer (or Stephenie’s publicist). Lexicon, you were asked not to share the news, you didn’t share the news, that is the end of your involvement. You did not have to go on a rant about MTV posting news YOU were asked not to. They were obviously not asked to sit on the news. What they post has nothing to do with what you are allowed to post.
Furthermore, you said Summit was not the one who told you to sit on the news. Summit is the company that owns the rights to the Twilight movie. They are free to share what they want and withhold what they want from the public. Clearly they thought Stephenie’s cameo was something that was fit to share. Again, their decision, not yours, not even Stephenie’s (unless she had worked something out with Summit in advance, which clearly she did not).
You went out of your way to vilify MTV. They clearly were given permission to post what they did. The only right thing to do would be to take down this post entirely.
Thats pretty cool its like what they did with Spriderman the dude who wrote Spiderman was in all 3 movies.
I bet she’ll just be eating at the restaurant in Port Angeles, near the table the hostess first tries to put them at. Thats my guess =)
Cool! I’m so glad she’s going to be in it. That’ll make us all squeal and giggle with delight.
I’m confused at the Lexicon – if this was such a big surprise that you WANTED SO BADLY TO KEEP SECRET from the world then why did you link to the MTV site? If that was really your intention, why write anything at all?
Anyways, what’s done is done. We’ll just have to get over it. I can’t wait to see Steph!
thank you MTV, i bet Stephenie totally is ticked off at you now.
but w/e i think its cool that shes gonna be in it, its such a shame that she wont get to announce it though, and i bet she would have announced it BEFORE the movie release. She just wanted to do it herself. Once again, lets all thank MTV for making another person hate them ahahaha
but really, stephenie, in the MOVIE?!?!?!?!?!?! AMAZING
I never thought about Port Angeles!!! Thanks Ann!!!!!

SOOOOO glad Steph is in the movie!
MTV is stupid they are not Twilight fans they shouldn’t be reporting the Lexicon’s and Stephenie’s business.
Stick to the stupid stuff you usally report!
And the FOOT IN MOUTH adward goes to MTV!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
