The Daily Vanguard, the newspaper of Portland State University, has announced that Solomon Trimble, of their student body has been cast as Sam Uley.
EDITED: There is a slight error with MTV being credited as the studio making the film, but the rest of the info is correct.
Also please note: Summit has signed all the actors to a three film deal. It’s a standard sequel clause. It’s how they are guaranteed to get people back if the movie hits big and makes them stars. The best recent example of this coming into play is the Pirates of the Caribbean series that resurrected Johnny Depp’s career, showed that Orlando Bloom could be more than an elf, and made Kiera Knightly a household name beyond teen flicks like Bend It Like Beckham. If they didn’t have that sequel clause in play, they never would have gotten those actors back.
It should be noted that Summit can’t proceed to make any sequels, regardless of what they have signed people up for, until Stephenie gives them the right to do so. On her recent German tour Stephenie clearly stated that she has not yet granted filming rights for anything other than Twilight, and is thinking about it, but has not yet given her OK.

At first, I thought he didn’t look anything like the Sam I imagined, but I covered up his hair and imagined he had–ummm…not more hair, but just not in a ponytail, and I could totally see it!! And anyways, his acting skills, not his looks, are the things that matter the most. =]
Sam is only 19 I’m pretty sure in Twilight.and he is 23.
so fine to me. i always wondered if he had already transformed into a werwolve during Twilight cause after he sais,The Cullens dont come here…he looks away towards the dark forest.I always wondered if he was looking out for something in the woods,like he knew more than he let on but but of course couldnt say anything.I wonder if he believed the Legends up front, I still wonder cause i guess your not supposed to communicate or be around regular people after the transformation. Has any one ever read any comment about it from Stephenie?

He’s okay as Sam. Not really what I pictured, but I’m sure he’ll do great! Someone posted a comment saying that is they’re making Sam such a dominant role when he isn’t in Twilight that much then they must be making all the movies. I have to say that it’s true. They have to make Sam a dominant role just in case they CAN make the other movies. Stephenie Meyer still hasn’t even given them the rights to it yet, however Summit did sign all of the actors on to do at least three movies if they end up making them. I’m sure when she sees how good the first movie does she’ll say yes right away. Anyway back to Sam, he’s okay, pictured him bigger though lol Here’s a pic:

Solomon is ok, he’s not the first kind of person I’d think of, but he’s definitley able! Yeah, he may not be a huge character in this one, but he’s soooo important in New Moon!!
i think he’s OKAY as sam. i mean, not like a brilliant choice or whatever. but the movie will probably be sooo good, that I’ll forget all about it. and i think its pretty obvious who taylor lautner will be playing.

Hee… I heart Solomon. He actually lives one floor above me and I’ve known him for a few years now. I took a class with him. I was so excited for him with I found out! When I saw him I freaked out and was jumping up and down! He’s pretty excited to be playing Sam, and he’s going to be reading the books I think over spring break. I can’t wait to tell him what everyone is saying about him. lol (sorry it didn’t post right before)

wow i like him for Sam. Sam is supposed to be older looking than the rest, and besides…he looks normal, totally ordinary. i just feel bad for his little brother tho ;_; i wonder if he ever got a small part in the film as well.

I think he has the authoritative vibe that is supposed to come from Sam as the leader of the pack. He only has like one line ion Twilight, so we won’t really see his acting prowess until New Moon, i guess.

In the article, they made corrections… Solomon says he signed on for the other 2 films.. he did not.. only Twilight.. so I’m guessing to say that if he doesn’t do a good job… they can replace him!?!
