Breaking Dawn Countdown Widget

Crepúsculo México has created a Breaking Dawn countdown widget. Definitely one of the better fan made countdown widgets I’ve seen in a long time.  You can get the widget here. Thanks to Veronica for the heads up.

Happy Birthday Edward

As you know, next week is Edward’s 107th birthday. To celebrate, we are making a list of the 107 things we love about Edward and Twilight, but we need your help.  Send an email to [email protected] your item should look like this:

I love Edward because he is such a gentleman (Your Screen Name or First Name Here).

This way we can can easily incorporate your idea into the the master list that will be published on the front page of the Lexicon. Be silly, funny, serious, crazy, whatever you want.

Also you never know, but Edward may be visiting the message boards.

A German magazine has an interview with Stephenie regarding The Twilight Saga and The Host.  We have a link to a loose Babel Fish translation, and a few better quotes from CéliAmbre, who gave us the original heads up.

"S Meyer: I can lose myself in endless details and descriptions. My editor is very strict und cuts a lot out. It’s probably good that way, but I often have to cry when something is left out. I am really very thin-skinned."

S Meyer: "I don’t think violence is needed to write an enthralling story. But it’s not true that my story is as peaceful as everyone always says either. Characters die every time, one was horribly burnt, others are ripped to pieces. I even wrote a scene once, that my editor and my agent censored as too brutal. Because I must admit, when writing, it sometimes is fun to me to torture my characters."

E-petitions

Lately we’ve been getting a ton of emails asking us to advertise various e-petitions. We’ve had people request everything from asking people to sign a petition asking for Twilight to be released on a certain date overseas to supporting an actress’ PETA alliance.

Aside from the fact that if we advertised every Twilight related cause we’d be posting nothing but petitions, there’s actually a better reason why at the Lexicon we don’t advertise e-petitions ever.   It’s not that we are trying to be mean, it’s that they don’t work. It’s too easy to fake signatures, and the people to whom they are sent regularly discard them for that very reason.  In fact, oftentimes the only person an e-petition helps is the owner of the e-petition site. You can read about it more here on Snopes, the urban legend site, the hands-down best place on the Internet for determining if something is Internet myth, hoax, or truth.

I know it’s hard to believe in this electronic age, but if you want to make an impact, and get people to notice you have to do it the good old-fashioned way: letter writing or a "stunt" that something concrete shows up.  Some recent examples of this would be fans of Jericho saving the show for an extra season by sending the producers bags of peanuts (a take off on a popular character’s line), or socks…lots of socks, sent to Mike Welch.

No, we aren’t jumping the gun and talking about anything in Breaking Dawn. Our very own Seraphyn, AKA Erica, tied the knot today with her own Edward, Walter.

Congratulations to Erica and Walter!
