Stephenie’s visit to Italy

As previously reported, Stephenie will be visiting Italy in May. She’ll also be swinging back to Spain for the Retiro Book Festival.  Here are some details courtesy of "Cullen" from the Italian version of the Lexicon called Twilighters.:

We're ready to welcome Stephenie and really looking forward to her visit in May.

Of course we will write a chronicle, take thousands of photos and shoot some videos and share them with you in English. We're soooo excited!!!

We're currently promoting a contest together with the Italian editor: "Write a love letter to Edward". The winners will have the possibility to join the staff of Twilighters in an interview with Stephenie, granted by the editor. The contest closed last week and the winning letters will be published on a small booklet attached to a teen's magazine on 26th April (when New Moon will be issued here in Italy).

The editor is working on a big event in Volterra on 19th May and we've organized the Italian fans meeting over there. I've been there in advance, just to have a look and I must say Volterra is simply amazing. I shot this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGnsrFzmhgo enjoy it 😀

So stay tuned for more details.

Eclipse Countdown Timer

I thought I would share a countdown timer that I just cooked up. Now if I can just figure out how to create a box so everyone can download the code easily we are in business.

And, there are at E-Prom details on Stephenie’s website.

Back at Number one

New Moon is back in the number one position this week on the New York Times best seller list!

I wonder if that had anything to do with interest sparked by the cover release and blurb of Eclipse?

Eclipse release…pick a number, any number…

This is cross-posted from a thread in our forums concerning B&N posting that Eclipse was available for pre-order and giving a "release date"

As several people in this thread have stated, this is not an official release date. This date could change multiple times over the next few months. If memory serves, the New Moon release date changed approximately six times, and then the real kick in the pants was when Amazon.com delivered their books about two and a half weeks before what we were assuming was the release date.

Lake Girl has an informative piece on publishing FAQ’s found in the link on the right side of this page. In a nutshell, what happens is that the release date is more like a guideline than a hard and fast rule. Only books like the Harry Potter series, Lemony Snicket, get a special guaranteed release on a certain date, which then leads to great midnight release parties. No such guarantee has been given to Eclipse. In fact this type of release is EXTREMELY RARE only a handful of YA books has ever been given this type of release. Believe me, if any of Stephenie’s books is given a firm release date we’ll be out there leading the charge with midnight release celebrations.

So for now, if you want the Eclipse release date, until we officially hear from Stephenie, take out the late summer/early fall 2007 calendar and throw a dart at it. Whatever date you hit is as good of a guess as any.

EDITED: UPDATE FROM STEPHENIE:

"Actually, Eclipse WILL have a lay down date. It’s not officially absolutely-without-a-doubt-for-sure August 7th, but it will be in August. I expect to have an official date in the next few weeks."

So to recap: when we get a lay down date confirmation  we’ll shout it from the hilltops, along with any potential information we may have in regards to release parties.

Stephenie in Spain Youtube style

Here is a video of Stephenie’s visit to Spain. Granted there is a lot of Spanish spoken, but you don;t need to be fluent to get the gist of what is happening. From what I can tell it features several of our good friends over at Crepúsculo, the Spanish version of the Lexicon, who are also posters here. I feel like I was playing Where’s Waldo, but I think I spotted our joint members Edward Cullen, La Tua Cantante, and  Alice.

Account creation

Bear with us, folks! If you want to create an account with us be aware of the following:

1.  you will probably get an error message because we have a server issue causing a bug

2.  It takes a mod to approve your account, usually within 48 hours.

3. Once you are approved, post on the New Kid in Town forum.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t create multiple accounts hoping it will speed up the process. All it does is make more work for me. All work and massive account deletion makes Pel a cranky mod!
