Maintenance

I know this will come as a wild surprise to our regular readers, but we are going to be moving the Lexicon’s server host again. Yes, I have lost count how many times this makes this. In any case, tonight through the rest of the week, expect the Lexicon to be unavailable at given points. We may lock off the forums early as a precaution.

Kristen Stewart talks about twilight

Kristen Stewart mentioned Twilight in an MTV interview, and sounds really excited about the project. Thanks to multiple people for the heads up.

***Please remeber that this was just an intereview.  Many of you ar taking things out of context and making judgements without information.  Be patient, judge the movie when you see it otherwise you are just going to be angry everytime new information appears.  The comments are being turned off.  Please keep the manifesto in mind when posting.

My order can’t be filled? What does that mean?

I ‘ve just had a couple of e-mails from concerned readers who just got a notice from Amazon.com that they are not able to fulfill their Breaking Dawn order.  Don’t panic, it doesn’t mean the book won’t be published.

Here’s what I believe the deal is, but we will give you more firm info when we can. Months ago Amazon advertised a pre-order and gave a release date that was not official. This release date was confirmed as not official by Stephenie and her publicist. So, (this is guesswork on my part here) Amazon had to tell people that they couldn’t fill their order because frankly there was no way they could fill them on the date promised; therefore they had to cancel to avoid false advertising actions.

Additionally, if you look up Breaking Dawn on Amazon’s website, it says that you can sign up to get an email when the item becomes available.

Twilight Movie mentioned in Oregon papers

The Twilight movie got a brief mention in The Oregonian today.  Seems like people universally really like director Catherine Hardwicke.

Also, since everyone and their pet werewolf keep asking this:

  1. No it isn’t unusual that the rest of the cast isn’t posted on the IMDB
  2. It doesn’t mean they don’t have the parts, it just means that they are busy doing other things to prep for the movies
  3. No it doesn’t mean they are disorganized
  4. Past tense of cast is not "casted". Casted isn’t a word. Today I cast the role, yesterday I cast the role and I have cast the role….please…please…"casted" is hurting my brain and Alphie’s
  5. And no, I don’t know when or if they will make an announcement, the info will come when it comes.

To the 95% of the fans we thank you

I just want to preface this by saying I think 95% or even higher of the people who visit this site are awesome. It”s kind of like school, most people are really great, but it’s that 5% that make the teachers nuts and ruin it for everybody else.

So, here’s the thing. I’ve lost count of how many times we have said that we are a non-spoiler site, but today someone felt the need to post a review of The Host because they were able to read it in arc (advanced readers copy) form.  That person has been banned.

If you are fortunate enough to have an arc because you know a major bookseller or a industry publication person who has one, great for you. God ahead and read it, enjoy it. You are not allowed to review it, talk about it, put quotes from it in your signature or avatar here until the book is actually in release for the general public. I don’t want to have to shut down these boards for the next two months, but I’ll do it if that 5% is going to ruin it for everyone else. Incidentally those industry professionals have dates that they can go public with their reviews, why should people who were not even asked to review be any different?

One last thing regarding arcs. They are not supposed to be sold. The people who receive them know this and frequently it’s even stamped on the cover. I recently saw some on EBAY that went for $100’s of dollars. All you are doing by buying one of those is making the person who got it for free and EBAY rich. Ebay won’t stop an arc from being sold unless the author or the publisher complains. They do this on purpose so they can make more money (ain’t corporate greed great!) It seems awfully silly to me since you can get the same thing for about $20 in a couple of months, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can sure think of a bunch of other things I’d do with all that money.

Sad day in the Twilight fandom

Regrettably, one of the very first Twilight sites has had to close its doors. The Twilight MySpace Community was an early place, prior to the Lexicon going up, where Stephenie could interact with fans. It was a major part of rallying fans.  In fact there are major chunks of the personal correspondence that the MySpace Group graciously let us archive.

As administrators and mods we are saddened that they are gone. They were like the neighbors down the block. Having had the pleasure of meeting Brit on more than one occasion I can state that she is one cool gal.  We have Brit’s permission to post below the explanation that she gave out as a MySpace Bulletin. We are turning off the comments and would ask that people be respectful of what had to be a painful decision.

Hi Twilight friends

As most of you have probably noticed, I deleted the Twilight page last night. This was a long time coming but after spending quite a bit of time the last week or so to try to sort out the page, clean it up and settle fights, I came to the conclusion that with 35, 000 members, it’s more than any person can deal with.

I did play with the idea of handing the page over to a new mod but came up against roadblocks when trying to decide who it would be, what criteria would I look for and eventually realized that for any one person to effectively manage this page, it would have to be a full-time job. Considering what a mess the page was, I decided that if anyone wants to take on a Twilight group, they should just start from scratch. MySpace groups are very difficult to run and definitely aren’t set up for as many members as I had. Many of you have communicated your frustration about the lack of organization, repeat threads and lack of a search bar for topics. In addition, MySpace only allows for one true moderator. These are a few of the reasons why I believe MySpace is in need of a groups overhaul.

I’m sorry that many of you are disappointed but it just didn’t seem like anyone was having much fun anymore. I’ve really enjoyed the last two years, while some times were better than others. I remember a long time ago, I thought the page had become unmanagable at 6, 000 members – almost 6 times that was unbelievable. I’ve met some really awesome people and I hope to stay in contact with them. Of course I still love Twilight and I admit that I’m going to enjoy being just a fan again. And I’ll be around if anyone wants to chat Twilight. I also hope to spend more time over at the Lexicon. Alphie and Pel offered me a job at the Lexicon but I’ve declined at this time. I feel that I have very little time to offer to be an effective moderator for them and I am also quite ill at the moment (nothing too serious but very draining).

I’m going to miss seeing so many Twilighters in one place ๐Ÿ™ If anyone is planninging a group and wants a little advice on anything (layout, group profile generation, setup etc) just let me know.

I’ve been getting a lot of messages and I will try to get back to all of you with time.

My best;

Brittany (Nimir-Ra)

Stephenie featured in BYU alumni magzine

Stephenie and the Twilight Saga were mentioned in a recent issue of BYU’s Alumni Magazine.  It seems that BYU has quite a group of authors amongst its ranks. Thanks to Geo Graphee for the link.

Filming Status Updated at Summit

Thanks to Dolphin Dog for the heads up.  Summit updated Twilight’s status on their page from pre-production to in production.

Kristen Stewert Fanmail

In the interest if fair time. Here is the address for Kristen Stewert who will be playing Bella. Again, be nice, no one likes a stalker (can you tell I’ve had my fill of crazy people for the week and it’s only Wednesday?).

Kristen Stewart
c/o The Gersh Agency
232 North Canon Dr.
Beverly Hills, CA 90210

When we have the rest of the cast (no I don;t know when that will be and no I am not panicked about not knowing this), we’ll create movie pages on the site that give facts on each actor and where to write to them.

I should also add thanks to Mae87 for digging up the address. As far as we know, there is no official MySpace for Kristen either, just a whole lot of "wannabes".

Filming Site Revealed

According to TDN, that serves the Columbia Valley, the Twilight movie will be using Kalama High School as a shooting location during the school’s spring break.  Whether or not Forks High School will be used at all is not at this time known. They may use Forks HS for exterior shots, but this high school for interiors.

Also, while I am at it, yes we are aware of the rumors circulating around the net. At this time they are just that–rumors. I wouldn’t put too much stock in anything until it is officially released by Stephenie or Summit. In other words, do the words "Colton Haynes" and staying up until 3:00am for Tory’s big announcement ring any bells?

Lastly, the fact that Summit is having an open casting for Jacob Black does not mean other parts have not been cast. It means they just haven’t announced it. Remember that movies are not shot in chronological order. Jacob has a small part in Twilight.  It is not a big deal not to have that part at this point.
