Reagan Arthur, senior vice president and publisher of Little, Brown and Company, announced today the publication of THE CHEMIST, mega-bestselling author Stephenie Meyer’s first thriller. The worldwide English-language release of the book is set for November 15, 2016.

Stephenie Meyer said: “THE CHEMIST is the love child created from the union of my romantic sensibilities and my obsession with Jason Bourne and Aaron Cross. I very much enjoyed spending time with a different kind of action hero, one whose primary weapon isn’t a gun or a knife or bulging muscles, but rather her brain.”

Reagan Arthur said: “Stephenie Meyer’s considerable storytelling talents have made her one of the most beloved, bestselling authors in the world. Those talents are on full display in THE CHEMIST, and we are over the moon that she’s returned to the world of adult fiction with this exciting, edge-of-your-seat thriller.”

About the book:

In this gripping page-turner, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn’t even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They’ve killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

When her former handler offers her a way out, she realizes it’s her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.

Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialized skill set. And she shows once again why she’s one of the world’s bestselling authors.

  1. Lotte Niks says

I see nothing that specifies a new website… so why would you tell us about there going to be a new website and then don’t specify anything about it?

  2. AAAH! so excited! Can’t wait to read The Chemist. Although don’t care for the cover, hope its only temporary and they change it, but oh well. Yes! Stephenie’s releasing a new book!

  3. Joel Emmett says

“First!” So I have to ask, “Why isn’t this the-book-which-shall-not-be-named?”

Actually, I’m just delighted to see she hasn’t given up on writing.

There are lots of producers in the world, but only one Stephenie Meyer!

Plus, I cannot believe that she actually updated her website. Thank you, thank you, Method Agency. (Also, is Stephenie actually an octopus-haired mermaid?)

  4. Fantastic to hear! 🙂

  5. Yay! I love her storytelling. Sounds exciting!

  6. I am SO pleased to see this book and that it will be a series is wonderful :)………Thank you Stephanie!

  7. Where’s Midnight Sun?????
It would be an instant Best Seller. It’s a mystery to me as to why she never finishes her book series.
Twilight is unfinished because Midnight Sun is missing and The Host was supposed to be a trilogy and its unfinished. Who’s to say this new book that’s supposed to be a series won’t end up an unfinished project also. I’m done buying books that never are completed. I’ll wait until they are all out before I’ll buy anymore.

    • Marianne – it’s nice to know I’m not the only one that feels that way! The Midnight Sun situation irked me, waiting for a sequel to The Host was disappointing. But, to be honest, the one that bothers me the most is New Moon graphic novel vol 2 now being completely swept under the rug. It was postponed for years, and July 19, 2016, the date it was FINALLY supposed to come out, it was no where to be found and nothing was said about it…and coincidently, the same day there was an announcement about the new website and book. As if to distract anyone who may be disappointed, yet again. And it seemed to have worked…no one seems to be asking about NM vol 2, maybe it’s been so long people have forgotten about it…who knows. For me, not only have I looked forward to it, I feel gyped that I only have the 1st volume, which cuts off 1/2 way through the story…leaving it incomplete on my shelf. Though deep down I’m excited for a new book from her, like you, I feel like I’m done putting $ in her pocket after this last disappointment.
