Summit Officially Denies the Reboot Rumors

Earlier today we reported on the latest on the Twilight rumor mill that Summit/Lionsgate was looking to do a Twilight reboot and/or sequels, and our opinion that sequels weren’t going to happen and a reboot might take place, but not likely for 10 years down the line.

Now Rob Friedman of Summit(who has been with the franchise since practically day 1) directly contacted Deadline Hollywood to set the record straight.

”We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change.”

  1. That’s a pretty firm denial. Except that he isn’t denying what the article actually claimed, and it’s especially weird because they predicted this exact denial:

“They’ll deny it, right here, right now. We’ll get plenty of eggs in our face. Sites will burn us at the stake like a witch during the Salem trials. Still, the fact will remain: it’s true. In fact, they’re already discussing it internally.”

So the actual claim is that they are “already discussing it internally,” which he does not actually deny.

The quote includes the word “internally,” which one supposes means: Without consulting Stephenie Meyer & Co.

So, idk, but my reading is that they really — really — don’t want to irritate Stephenie, despite any internal discussions.

That would be our take too. Talk is cheap. I mean hypothetically internally they could be talking how they would do a Hunger Games and Twilight crossover, it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
