Rumor Control: No Twilight Video Game In the Works

Yes, we know that Bronson Pelletier at a red carpet event talked about being in a motion capture suit and that he thought it was for a video game. Turns out he was wrong. Summit Entertainment has confirmed for us that, “There is no video game featuring the world of THE TWILIGHT SAGA currently in development.”

We are guessing that the motion capture suit was for CGI for the actual film rather than a video game.

This didn’t surprise us too much in that there haven’t been games for the previous movies and traditionally female-driven fandoms tend not to get video games. The largest gaming element is male teens-30’s, and since that isn’t exactly the Twilight demographic, games are unlikely.

Twilight Saga just doesn’t lend itself as a video game franchise. Granted Final Fantasy VIII worked an RPG around a romance, the story itself was about saving the world from Ultimecia (yes I geek), a time traveling witch… Twilight Saga on the other hand is really about the romance, and besides as most (99.9%) of all movie tie in games suck (no vampire pun intended), I’d rather not see somebody try and make a quick horrid buck, just to get a game out there.

The ONLY way the Twilight Saga could work as a legitament game (other than those stupid dating sims) is a MMORPG, where story doesn’t matter (think Second Life). You pick your class…vampire, werewolf, human. You choose your initial stats, and then live in a world based on the Twilight Saga. However, would girls want to live in this world, if they don’t have a chance at scoring with Edward? 😛

It is rather a pointless idea to make a video game, but the fans would buy anything. I’d be happy to see a Twilight video game made. I would even play it. But it couldn’t work as a story game. it couldn’t work with you being Bella and going through all the things she goes through. And if it was one of those games with an irrelevant plot, it would just be boring.

  3. You kidding me? I adore video games. They’re for EVERYONE to enjoy, not just guys. And I’m not the only one.

But yeah,it would be so stupid to see a Twilight video game lol.

it definitely insults me that you might think differently….and i have a bunch of guy friends who like it too! some guys just aren’t man enough to admit it! and as for the girls who don’t like video games, heed my words: THEY WILL BUY ANYTHING (literally, NO JOKE) WITH A TWILIGHT LABEL STUCK TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please don’t call me a loser just because i like something….everyone has their own opinion and i respect that. just know that this is a huge opportunity your passing up. you could even sell it in japan or china or wherever. when the last installment of breaking dawn finally gets out of theaters, the twihards (i think that’s kind of an odd name but it fits) will be hungry for more twilightish news, so let’s give them some! you know i’ve got a point, just consider it. Thanks 🙂

  5. I do consider all of the concepts you have offered to your post.

They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very brief for beginners. May you please prolong them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.

  7. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a 25
foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share
    it with someone!
