Thousands of TWILIGHT fans across the nation participated in the “NEW MOON at Midnight” event and some were treated to surprise appearances by members of the cast as well as the film’s director.  Fans saw actors Justin Chon who plays Eric, Christian Serratos who plays Angela, and Michael Welch who plays Mike in Salt Lake City; director Chris Weitz and Nikki Reed who plays Rosalie Hale in Los Angeles; Peter Facinelli who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in New York; Edi Gathegi who plays Laurent in Pittsburgh; and Liz Reaser who plays Esme Cullen in Phoenix.  Other cast members of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON made appearances nationwide including Kiowa Gordon and Tinsel Korey in Cincinnati; Charlie Bewley in Denver; Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman in Atlanta; Daniel Cudmore in Houston; and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg in Seattle.

Summit Entertainment’s Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger stated, “Once again the incredibly dedicated fans of the TWILIGHT SAGA came out in massive numbers this weekend for the opportunity to be one of the first take home the second movie in the series.  As we have said all along, the fans are what make this franchise and we once again thank them for their support.”

“The support that we have received from our retail partners in accommodating the incredible demand for the title has been nothing short of amazing,” said Steve Nickerson, Summit’s President of Home Entertainment.  “The ground we have broken with in-store partnerships and the availability of this title has been a positive influence on the retail DVD business.”

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, directed by Chris Weitz and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, was released in theatres on November 20, 2009 and has since grossed over $705 million worldwide.  In the film, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as Bella Swan (Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before.  Following Edward Cullen’s (Pattinson) departure from Forks, Washington, Bella discovers his image comes to her whenever she puts herself in jeopardy.  In time Bella’s frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob Black (Lautner) who has a supernatural secret of his own.

The third installment of the TWILIGHT franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will be released in theatres throughout North America on June 30, 2010. “

  1. Rosmelie says:

I wonder how many aside from myself, bought more than one copy…

    • I bought two copies. I pre-ordered the Ultimate Fan Edition on Blu Ray from Walmart, but decided at the borders midnight release party that I needed the Borders special edition that came with the wolk pack/Cullen necklace to watch that night. So I have two copies.

    • Great question! I also bought two. Target and Borders.

  2. Lavinia Cullen says:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!! ZIt’s weel deserved 🙂

  3. Rosmelie, aside from you and me I wonder, but everybody save some money to go see The Runaways

    • I saw The Runaways on Friday night, got my DVD on Saturday morning and spent the rest of the weekend watching it all. 🙂

BTW-The Runaways was awesome. Kristen and Dakota were FANTASTIC!

  4. @rosmelie I’m with u cuz I got 3 copies of the movie lol their fr best buy, target and walmart 😀

  5. Congrats to Summit , thanks to us fans…No surprise here is there?

    • Michelle says:

  10. Cullenfanforever says:

  11. It’s not a surprise at all, and I’m really glad about it.

  12. Well I pre-ordered a Bluray from Amazon, the regular copy from Cineplex and grabbed up the 3 disc set from Target. I did my bit 🙂

  13. Michelle says:

    way to go!

  14. Stephanie Meyer needs a new book, i loved the host..more please

  15. Woohoo!!!!!

  16. Chris, while you were at Walmart, I hope you had a moment to stop and get a new shirt. 🙂

  17. They did so well because they put different extras on separate dvds. Personally, I’m a little peeved about this. We’re some of the most dedicated fans out there, so how do they repay us? By making us buy multiple dvds. Having some different extras and collector items at different locations is fine, but to split up extended scenes and deleted scenes and eclipse footage is pretty cruel. Thanks for pushing us to fork out even more money Summit, you’re so thoughtful!

    • I am surprised that more people are not pissed about there being so many different copies of NM. I am determined to only buy one, which is why I have not bought it yet, I can’t decide. Part of me does not want to buy one at all because it really does make me mad they they are taking advantage of “the fans”, but I want the movie. Does anyone know if any other movie has ever done multiple releases like this?

      • Oh, and JJ, here’s a suggestion: do a search online to find the Eclipse preview that was on the Walmart disc, as well as the extended scenes from the Borders disc, and buy the Target one because its third disc has the most stuff on it. All the studios are lamenting how everything ends up online and they make no money from it, but no wonder when they split everything up over so many discs! They’re contributing to the problem that they’re trying to avoid.

        • Thank you for your help, that is what I am leaning towards doing. I have been watching a lot of clips and have seen a lot. Now I am just waiting for my stubborn side to get over it and just buy one.

    • Absolutely. Summit sold a lot of units, but i think they lost a lot of goodwill in the process. It was very underhanded, considering how devoted we all are; they had to know this was a good way to drive sales. Shame on you, Summit!

  18. @mel yeah im upset to but im glad i got a copy to watch and rewatch! I do wish the walmart copy had deleted scenes but whatev!

  19. Tracey Pattinson says:

Yes I agree, the Host is really great. I know Stephanie says she would like to write about different things, but I really wish she would write all the series with Edward’s point of view, and finish midnight dawn…
I purchased 3 dvds by the way, and for my b-day in March, recieved every t-shirt, neclace,Rob calendars, Taylor calendars, posters, photos, pens, pins, you name it from new moon or twilight I got it. I suppose my family and friends think I am obsessed, I am not…maybe a little 🙂
