Kellen Lutz Talks To MTV Before Heading North

Kellan Lutz  stopped by MTV to talk about (well as much as he’s allowed) New Moon.  See the full article here.

EDITED: There’s also a secondary article where Kellan gives hints regarding the Eclipse director.

Cool Twilight Game

If you enjoyed Julika’s Twilight game last month, we have another game for you this month. Lexiconer James and his team have put together a a YouTube game. The instructions are below. Have fun!

The game is a challenge to all Twilight fans who absolutely love the movie.  Especially for those who have seen the movie more than once.

Here is how it works:

  • -15 movie stills have been scrambled.
  • -Look carefully at each still to identify the scene, then put the 15 scenes in sequential order to when they appear in the film.
  • -Once you have your numbers in the correct order, email them to [email protected]
  • -Each correct entry will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card to one of the following: Best Buy, Amazon.com, Hot Topic, Wal-mart or Target. (The winner chooses)
  • -The winner will be selected at random on March 16th, which gives the winner a chance to buy their choice of the DVD in time for its release.

Twilighters, do you think you know the movie front to back?  This is actually harder than you think!

What’s It Like To Run Into Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner

Mae is back with her report on exactly how she ran into Rob and Taylor yesterday:

So my friends and I were walking on Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver for my birthday dinner. My friends were walking ahead of me and I trailed behind in pain from walking in heels. As I look up and see my friends walking in front, I see a face of a man I’m all too familiar with. All I could think about was “No way, you’ve GOT to be kidding me!”. You see, my friends and I knew Robert was in town and at the beginning of the week we were joking around saying it’d be hilarious if we saw him downtown.

My friends were just staring star-struck as he passed them. As soon as he reached me I whipped out my camera and immediately asked Robert if I could take a picture with him. He was SO friendly and said “Sure of course!”. I mentioned it was my birthday and he greeted me. We had a little discussion about how I met him before in Kalama. He was surprised and asked around what time that was. I said it was in March during their last days of filming there, but I don’t think he remembered, hehe. It’s okay. The whole time we were talking I looked to his left and realize Taylor Lautner was standing there! I freaked and said hi to him. He was all smiles, of course 🙂 So I got my picture with them and then my friends and I just started socializing with them for a bit. And then I asked Taylor for a group picture and he gladly said yes. But their bodyguard said they had a meeting, but I refused to not have a group picture (haha yes, I was quite demanding). Then we said our goodbyes & I asked Taylor for a hug. Ladies … he gives the best hugs EVER! And let’s just say … his 6 months of working out felt REAL nice 😉

It was an AMAZING birthday. Moral of the experience: Expect anything & everything at any given time or place.

Mae Meets Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner

About a year ago, Lexiconer Mae traveled down to Oregon to visit the Twilight filming locations. Like a lot of fans who traveled to the set, she stood in outside the roped off area in the hopes that cast members might drop by. Well, she did get lucky and Rob dropped by making her day. You can see the coverage of that here and here.

So the thing is Mae actually lives in Vancouver, Canada. She and her friends were out last night and who should she meet? (Mae is the deliriously happy person in between Rob and Taylor.)

We’ve asked Mae to explain in her own words exactly what went down. Stay tuned for that later this week.

How Did Twilight Make It To The Big Screen?

It seems the answer to that question is, “by some good old-fashioned networking and co-operation”.

According to Variety,

“A recent example of the value of co-agenting can be found in UTA’s brokering with the Writers House a Summit film deal for “New Moon” and “Eclipse,” the second and third installments in Stephenie Meyer‘s “Twilight” series, with UTA screenwriter client Melissa Rosenberg also in the mix.”

What’s also notable about the article is that it only mentions the first three films. Numerous actors have recently been quoted about wanting to do Breaking Dawn, that the fans seem up for Breaking Dawn, etc.

Here’s our specualtion( we have no insider info, this is pure guesswork here based on information patterns): While people may want to do Breaking Dawn ( I mean who doesn’t want more money on a sure-fire blockbuster chain?) it doesn’t seem like Breaking Dawn was part of the initial deal.  If it is in negociations, it doesn’t look like ink is dry on that contract. If it were, Summit surely would have announced that, and Variety would be talking about it in this article.

Now, if the Screen Actors Guild could just get their contracts settled…

Catherine Hardwicke On Hollywood

Catherine Hardwicke talked to Austin 360 about life in Hollywood. Catherine will be inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame on March 12th receiving the prestigious Ann Richards award. The award is named after the tough-talking, never-say-die former Texas governor.

Here’s part of the interview:

What are your thoughts on coming down to your home state to receive the Ann Richards Award?

My dad was a cotton farmer and my mom a schoolteacher. This honor and my whole career are way beyond dreams I ever had growing up. It’s beautiful and unbelievable on so many levels. … I get a lot of cool letters from kids and people in small towns in Texas and the Valley, and they say, “You’ve inspired me to be a director.” And that’s really cool.”

Twi-Con Announces Call For Papers

TwiCon, the massive Con happening this summer in Dallas (www.twicon.org), has just re-released their Call for Papers. You can finally write a fun and academic paper (about 15-20 minutes long) about the properties of venom, or the role of music in Twilight and present it at TwiCon 2009! Take a look at it here.

Possible paper topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The Female Role in Twilight Explore the strengths and weaknesses of the female narrator, the impact of a female author and director and attention to the majority of the Twilight audience as female.
  • The Biology of Twilight Answer questions such as, “what are the properties of venom?” This panel will also discuss genetics of humans, vampires, werewolves and half vampire/half human species.
  • Twilight in the Media How is Twilight advertised or discussed on television? How is fantasy literature in general depicted by the media? This discussion will cover all media forms.
  • The Twilight Franchise Talk about how Twilight has gone from a small, successful novel to a cultural phenomenon sparking musical groups, fan sites and yes, conventions.
  • The Film Adaptation Discuss the cast, crew, locations, director, screenwriting process or anything involved with the adaptation of Twilight to the big screen.
  • Forum for the Generations What do younger vs. older Twilight readers share – and how do they differ – in appreciation of the Twilight saga? This is a great forum for mother/daughter groups!
  • Writing to Get Published Listen to editors and agents speak on the publishing industry and what it looks like for new and young writers. A Q&A session will be included in this panel.
  • Twilight in the Classroom Learn how educators can use Twilight in their curriculum, and how students can include it in their academics.
  • Historical Elements of Twilight What was 1600’s London like during Carlisle’s time there? What was Chicago like in the early 1900’s when Edward was a child? This is an interesting historical perspective for the Twilight saga.
  • The Classics of Twilight Join this discussion of the classics that influenced Stephenie Meyer and how they are utilized in the Twilight Saga
  • Quileute History and Folklore A guest speaker will regale us with tales of the Quileutes!
  • Vampire Folklore, History and Presence in Film and Literature How do Stephenie Meyer’s vampires differ from others in literature and what do those differences do for her story and characters? This is a must-see panel for vampire fanatics!

Happy Birthday To Us

Yep a bunch of you guessed correctly that yesterday was our birthday, well sort of. So here’s the story. Three years ago the Lexicon got put up during the month of March. It’s kind of hard for us to nail down an exact date because we were doing a lot to build the site back then. It was a lot of trial and error on what looked right, and what worked and what didn’t.

We started by just putting up basic timelines and character bios. Then we added the personal correspondence, and news. Can you believe we only used to have like four news posts a month? Then finally by March 31, 2006 we got the images right ( getting rid of the infamous red leaves) and opened our forum.

So in order to celebrate three fabulous years, here’s what we are going to do.  Instead of just picking a day. We are celebrating a birthday month. We are going to do some site triva over the course of the month and give out some fabulous autographed prizes to lucky Lexiconers. So keep watching the blog, and we’ll give out more details next week.

In the meantime take a trip down memory lane through the archives of our first forum.
