Jonas Brothers New Moon Hopes

According to MTV, it looks like the Jonas Brothers have jumped on the “put me on the soundtrack” bandwagon. Although the Brothers haven’t seen the movie, they definitely understand it’s wide appeal. According to Joe Jonas, “For a lot of guys, they want superpowers. He’s a vampire, but he’s pretty strong and stuff.”

It seems like every day we get an email in our inbox suggesting a band. Usually it’s an indie, on the rise kind of group that’s stong on lyrics.  So, who do you think should be on the soundtrack?

Comments

  1. Oh, no, “He’s a vampire but he’s pretty strong and stuff.” No!

  2. I was disappointed that Coldplay WASN’T on the Twilight soundtrack. I had actually compiled my own CD that included several Coldplay songs that would’ve directly related to the story line. So, I’m always hoping they’ll be on the next one somewhere.

  3. I don’t know. I do think coldplay would be good. I also think they should have muse on it. I started writing a song that kinda gave the feel of when edward left bella. It was going to be vocals and piano, but I couldn’t get to a descent piano because mine in damaged. I wasn’t able to finish it. I did however finish the lyrics.

  4. ya i agree with erin…..coldplay would be great on the album..there songs just scream twilight! but i dnt think that the jonas brothers would be the best choice for the soundtrack there songs wouldnt really go with he feel of the book or movie..but thats just my opinion

  5. For the heartbreaking parts of New Moon Rufus Wainwright would be just perfect. Norwegian singer/songwriter Ane Brun would be an excellent choice for the reunion. And perhaps Nine Inch Nails whilst in Volterra?

I’m sorry, but I’d perfer someone who has seen the movie and at least know more of the theme.
And I don’t know why, but the Jonas Brothers don’t seem to fit in the genre for something like the Twilight Series. If I saw their name on the soundstract I’d be like “Huh”.

I have this feeling this article is going to turn into something like that Vanessa Hudgens incident…or maybe I’m wrong

  7. I can think of many and the Jonas Brothers are not one of them!

  8. No WAY no jonas brothers please!!!!!

  9. Ohhhhh GODDD NO!

Never let the Jonas Brothers touch this. I would never see the movie then.

  10. If this actually happens i think i’ll lose faith in the soundtrack. i wouldn’t mind some more muse, after listening to the first soundtrack and stephenie’s playlists i think they’re AWESOME! the jonas brothers just don’t have the right sounds.
The fact that joe said: “He’s a vampire, but he’s pretty strong and stuff” makes me wonder if they’ve read the books, or seen the film. Though that ISN’T completely necessary, I just think it’d be respectful to actually know the project before jumping on the bandwagon.

  11. Sigh here we go again, I appreciate the intellegent posts of those who are not attacking the Jonas, but agree that their music may not be the right tone for the movie, unless they are willing to break away from their squeaky clean imagines and go dark.. Oppose to the two years olds now commenting or threatening they won’t see the movie if the Jonas touch this? I think it’s time for nap time. Tell your mommy to not let your near a computer until you reach maturity,

  12. Oh please no… not them… please no.

I was surprised Flyleaf wasn’t on the first one. That song seemed right up the Twilight alley.

  13. Uhm, I would definetely go “Huh” if I’d see the Jonas Brothers on the soundtrack aswell.
What we had hoped for during the preparations of the Twilight Movie was that it wasn’t going to be too Hollywood, too mainstream. And if it would now go Disney…I mean, that’s worse than Hollywood, even more mainstream! Yuck, I really hope not.

And honestly, those guys don’t know the movie, even less the book, and just want to be on there because it’s “wide appeal” and I think that does not deserve to be in something like Twilight.

Indie bands are fine with me. Muse, Colplay, Blue October, Paramore, Robert Pattinson, The Kooks, Paolo Nutini…things like we had in Twilight…”Grey’s Anatomy” soundtrack typo things…some classical Twitube songs (for me, that would be “Light surrounding you” by evermore, and “I still remember” by Bloc Party, and “Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional…

    Ooh, now I’m getting exited!

  14. You gus like Fall Out Boy? my sister got their cd, they got some pretty good songs. Like the Jonas, but their style too vanilla for NM.

  15. Ok…no offense to Jonas fans but… They just don’t fit with New Moon. This movies deals sadness, longing, and anger and call me crazy, but I just can’t see them singing anything that intense. This is Stephanie’s story, so why not refer to her playlist as well? I think Blue October’s “Hate Me,” and Muse’s “Sing for Absolution” should definitely be on the soundtrack. Both of these songs represent Edward perfectly. Also, how can you put an artist on a soundtrack, when they have no knowledge of the plot, moods, or themes of the story?

  16. Definitely NOT The Jonas Brothers! Their squeaky little voices are not what a movie like New Moon needs. It’s, for the most part, a very depressing story, not some upbeat teen-flick.

Plus, I don’t want Disney anywhere near this franchise.

  17. If they don’t know what the heck the story is about then why even suggesting they be put on the soundtrack?

  18. runswiththewolves says

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That is all.

  19. You have got to be kidding me! The Twilight series is unique and the last soundtrack had many artists that were not as mainstream and it turned out to be pretty awesome. Muse was an excellent choice among others. New Moon or any of the movies for that matter don’t need untalented teeny boppers looking for recognition and fame.

  20. Edward Cullen is Smelxy (Smells good and sexy) says

NO! DISNEY GET THE HELL AWAY FROM TWILIGHT! WE DON’T WANT YOU NEAR IT!

  21. I love the Jonas Brothers, but I don’t think their style of music would fit “New Moon.” Like you guys said up there, Coldplay and Flyleaf would, I guess, work better.

  22. ome
    please???!!!

    jo bro in new moon!

    it will definitely suck!

    whatever

  23. Edward Cullen is Smelxy (Smells good and sexy) is right!!
get the hell away from twilight!!!

  24. Faktririjekt says

*beats the Jonas brothers away from the New Moon soundtrack with a stick*

  25. umm… when in the world did the Jonas Bros get in the same sentence as Twilight? Ew…anyways I honestly wouldn’t ever want them on the NM soundtrack…but hey again thats just my opinion….

  26. Jesus NOOO! Why does disney insist on butting in?! Stay awayyy!

  27. Please, no Jonas Brothers! I completely agree with CindyBlack, why are all disney stars getting involved with Twilight?

  28. NO JONAS!! Sorry, but not only are they the absolute wrong genre for Twilight, but they don’t seem to appreciate it at all. They haven’t seen the movie, I *know* they haven’t read the books, and all they have to say is that “vampires are strong and stuff.” They obviously don’t understand, and are just after a piece of the pie. Keep the Disney kids away from this.

  29. Alu Rathbone says

There are quite a few that I would love to see on the soundtracks… like… more muse… and deffinately Coldplay… maybe some Alanis Morrisette (Jagged Little Pill CD), Michael Buble (come on… think about it… the song Lost and Home would be perfect… plus a few others… And Buble is just plain awesome! several of his songs on my own Twi Series Playlist…) Savage Garden, Panic At The Disco (Idr what song i had from them on the list… and itunes is down right now) Relient K, The Fray, One Republic, The Postal Service, Angels and Airwaves, Plumb, and I think thats about it for now… when my itunes is up i’ll put up my playlist.

  30. I agree, do not let Disney ANYWHERE NEAR this franchise!!!!!!!!

  31. PLEASE DO NOT LET THE JONAS BROTHERS NEAR ANYTHING NEW MOON.I’M NOT COMPLETELY SORRY FOR SAYING THIS BUT I AGREE WITH FORJAZZ926 KEEP THE DISNEY KIDS (“ACTORS”)AWAY FROM THIS. BLUE OCTOBER’S HATE ME AND UGLY SIDE WOULD BE A GREAT CHOICE (THE RIGHT CHOICE)FOR THE BREAK UP SCENE AND FOR BELLA’S DEPRESSIVE STATE I WOULD RECOMMEND BLACK ORCHID AS WELL AS MUSE’S UNINTENDED THIS SONGS WOULD BE SOOOOOO AWESOME.ALSO MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE WOULD BE GOOD.THREE DAYS GRACE THE ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME WOULD FIT JACOB’S STORY TO A TEE.

  32. Wendybcl1979 says

In truth, I can not imagine any song from Jonas in New Moon, I hope not to offend his fans, but I think they are definitely not very consistent with what is required.
Recently I heard a song called Somewhere by Within Temptation, oh my God, is beautiful, would be perfect for when Bella goes in search of Edward in Volterra, we can also find My Immortal by Evanescence, beautiful lyrics, I wonder if there is the possibility of including both, just listen to his lyrics know that this is a time of pain and anguish of love, why not?
Please if someone could contact Stephenie and comment will be eternally grateful, we must exhaust all means?
If there is already a tentative list of songs chosen for New Moon and someone knows, please send me my mail to download on the internet and my views on this issue.

    wendybcl1979@hotmail.com Thank you.

  33. Please… really? the jonas brothers??? It seems like they want to turn this into a “highschool musical” type thing… New moon is suppposed to be darker, sadder…. not some one of disneys happy go lucky movies… please, this is ridiculous!

  34. One wore, “No”. Let’s have bands on the soundtrack that are actually good.

  35. blah, even the idea of jonas brothers in the soundtrack makes me vomit!if they’re looking for good bands i would suggest Nickelback-they are great and their songs have really strong messages!

  36. Alu Rathbone says

I really do think you guys are judging these guys a little harsh… think about it…

what if you had been cast as a disney thing… and then… when you audition for other things… you get type casted as “Disney Purity” and you can’t get a role that is not strictly PG…

And JACKSON RATHBONE IS A DISNEY KID!!! HE WAS ON DISNEY 365 (or 411) HE PLAYS JASPER!!!!

Although I don’t think Jonas brothers would be ideal… don’t knock them out yet… they could come out with better things… and think about it… just cause they get their start on disney… doesn’t mean they can’t break away and make them selfs… more to your liking.

But trust me on the typecasting…

  37. I’m not going to lie… if they were ever on the soundtrack, I just wouldn’t buy it. I might buy it online… but not their track.

  38. I would like it if their were more indie bands. Honestly, I’m stuck on Naked Empire. Their stuff is awesome.

  39. I agree with Moe Moe and Wendybcl1979, New Moon is so deep and heart wrenching, you can’t just put the jonas brothers on the sountrack! I can hear it now.. “Edward was a super cool vampire, but he broke up with Bella on the phone..” Yes, I know that didn’t sound very good, but I’m trying to get my point across. My choices would be Within temptation, Hinder(just for the song BETTER THAN ME, listen to it :D) and some Muse of course, Hana Pestle, maybe even the red jumpsuit apparatus, for your guardian angel or cat and mouse :), and my Chemical Romance for Jake. Anyways PLEASE noooooooo Disney!!!!

  40. Shadowdragon13 says

    NO, NO, NO ! ! !

Jonas Brothers + New Moon = KISS OF DEATH!

New Moon needs MUSE (Sing for Absolution), eVANESENCE (Going Under, My Immortal), Within Temptation (Angels, Our Solemn Hour). Truly excellent Alterative and Symphonic Metal. I love the surreal, edgy sounds of the Twilight Soundtrack. Please don’t subject us to “tot rock” ! ! !

  41. Um…ewww…
    Keep pop crap away!

  42. ihadanEdwardRush says

NO!!!! FRIKKIN NO WAY!! NO JONAS BROTHERS!! heavens please no!

  43. All I know is that if the Quileute boys aren’t into Metallica, I’m going to be very disappointed. NO JONAS BROTHERS PLEASE!!!!

  44. Now that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. I recommend Saliva – Rest in Pieces, Blue October – Hate Me, Muse – Unintended.

  45. Sophie Cullen says

I don’t have anything against the Jonas Brothers as people. I’m sure they’re all very nice. However, I feel that if they’re just talking about being on the soundtrack because Twilight has as big (dare I say bigger?) fanbase as them, then they want to do this for the wrong reasons. What I would say to them is go read the book, watch the movie, then come back and talk about being on the soundtrack.

  46. This is my own personal playlist I made for the book… dunno about the movie:

“I Will Follow You Into the Dark” – Death Cab (Bella & Edward watching Romeo & Juliet)

“Sensible Heart” – City and Colour (Break-up Scene)

“You Have My Attention” – Copeland (Port Angeles w/ Jess – when she hears his voice for the 1st time)

“You’re All I Have” – Snow Patrol (Hanging out in Jacob’s garage)

“Gravemakers & Gunslingers” – Coheed & Cambria (Riding motorcycles)

“My Heart” – The Perishers (Jacob confronts Bella at the movies about his feelings for her)

“The Unwinding Cable Car” – Anberlin (Jacob tells Bella they can’t be friends)

“Flight of Kings” – Classic Crime (Jacob and Paul fight)

“Transatlanticism” – Death Cab (Cliff diving)

“The Funeral” – Band of Horses (Alice’s vision about Edward after he calls the house)

“The Sun and Moon” – Mae (Race across the square in Volterra)

“Cannonball” – Damien Rice (Bella wakes up with Edward there and thinks she’s dreaming)

  47. OH HEEEEEEEELL NO.

  48. THEY WOULDN’T! The twilight soundtrack was great,(tho I missed Coldplay like many persons said!)but still, They just cant do that! JB isn’t even good!

  49. NO
    NO JONAS BROTHERS
    PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE
    nononononononononononono

evanescence would definetly be good on the soundtrack…

  50. NONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gag me with a spoon…I can’t stand their moaning and complaining. Please, Lexicon, use all your magical powers and make sure that doesn’t happen.

    JUST SAY NO TO JONAS!
